On April 29, 2022, the first day of Golden Week, I visited the restaurant despite heavy rain. This was my fifth visit, and I chose a counter seat on the first floor. As always, I had a good impression. The dishes I enjoyed were: - "Shirasu salad" - "Fresh oysters" which were sweet and domestic - "Sea bream with angler liver sauce" - "Steamed abalone with liver sauce" - "Fugu shirako chawanmushi" - "Bonito flakes" - "Grilled fugu shirako" - "Beltfish" with just the right amount of salt and rich flavor - "Grilled scallops" - "Sayori" - "Surf clam" - "Kue" which had a mild taste and firm texture - "Gizzard shad" with a good balance of acidity and vinegared rice - "Ark shell" with a nice texture and sweetness - "Botan shrimp" - "Chutoro" - "Akami" - "Golden eye snapper" - "Negitoro" - "Sea urchin" which I love for its rich aroma and creamy texture - "Conger eel" - "Eel miso soup" - "Tamago" Additionally, I ordered: - "Sake-marinated snow crab" similar to Shanghai-style "drunken crab" - "Gizzard shad" - "Akami" - "Tuna negima" - "Botan shrimp" - 9 glasses of Hakushu highball. The total bill for two people was 56,000 yen. The freshness of the ingredients, variety of dishes, quality of each dish, and overall value make this restaurant a great choice. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Lunch set for 5700 yen. It includes 13 pieces of sushi, 2 side dishes, and a soup, so it's quite filling. Personally, I really enjoyed the lightly seared surf clam, which had a nice texture and flavor, so I ended up ordering more. The location is great, and since it's run by the same company as Masaz Kitchen, you can't go wrong.

If you want to enjoy sushi in a relaxed atmosphere at a high-end restaurant, this is the place to go. The ingredients may not be super high-end, but they are skillfully prepared. For example, the matsutake mushroom in the chawanmushi is said to be from China, but it is well put together so there is no sense of discomfort. The large pieces of sushi that completely cover the rice are visually appealing. The hotate (scallop) and nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) left a lasting impression.

I had a course meal from 17:30 on Friday. Considering the quality, I think this restaurant offers great value for money. The chefs are very attentive and the taste is better than the price suggests. The only downside is that they only offer one type of wine by the glass.

I chose the Chef's Choice course for 13,200 yen. Various dishes were served and all of them were delicious. I mentioned that I don't like yuzu and shiso, and they made sure not to include them in my dishes. Everything was so tasty that I ended up eating too much. The sushi was especially delicious. Among them, the medium fatty tuna was incredibly tasty.

Second visit. The interior is clean. Every dish is incredibly delicious. It's a sushi counter, but easy to casually enter. A wide variety of drinks available. However, when we first entered and were the only customers, the chefs seemed a bit tense with each other. That was the only disappointing part.

I visited this sushi restaurant for the fourth time because I wanted to enjoy delicious sushi without any hesitation. I am always satisfied with the taste and price at this restaurant! The quality of the fish and the way it is prepared are excellent and delicious. I made a reservation for the "Matsu" course, had three drinks, and ordered three additional pieces of sushi for each of us. I have only been here for lunch, but it is a favorite place where I can visit with peace of mind. The sushi is as shown in the photos! They ask for your preferences beforehand, so my companion was able to avoid the types of fish they don't like. It was a satisfying sushi lunch. Thank you for the meal!

Lunch at Gin no Matsu for 5700 yen. Absolutely delicious. Great value for the quality. The meal included sea bream, snow crab, flounder, kinmedai, tai, ishikage shellfish from Sanriku, chutoro, sea urchin, blackthroat seaperch, marinated salmon roe, button shrimp, kampachi, pickled tuna, negitoro, saltwater eel, tare tamago, and pickles. It might be best to inform them if you don't like pickled vegetables. I was able to enjoy this meal using a 6000 yen local tax payment voucher. No change was given.

This time I visited for the lunch course, and I felt it was more delicious than when I went at night before. It may be because the person who made the sushi was different, but the sushi was big, fresh, and delicious. It was a very satisfying sushi experience. I want to go back to this restaurant, where you can eat delicious sushi at a good cost performance for lunch.

I visited the restaurant at 11:30 on a weekday. It was my first time visiting, although I remembered the name of the place. I had originally reserved just a sushi lunch, but I decided to change it to a course with appetizers because I also wanted to have some drinks. The appetizers were delicious, but they weren't exactly my favorite type. The variety of drinks was enjoyable, and the vinegar rice and sushi itself were satisfying. The lunch price seemed reasonable, which is probably why there were many young people there. I would like to visit this restaurant again.

I used this restaurant for lunch. I had plans afterwards so I mainly had beer with my meal. I ordered a course meal which included a variety of appetizers and sushi. The dishes were skillfully prepared with seasonal ingredients, and I enjoyed chatting with the chef. It was a delightful experience and I would love to visit again in the evening to try more dishes.

Lunch at this restaurant is difficult to reserve. I made a reservation about a month ago for a company lunch event. The sushi set with 13 pieces (5700 yen), fresh shirasu (appetizer), flounder, bonito tataki (appetizer), golden eye snapper, fatty tuna with salmon roe, amberjack, flatfish, horse mackerel, shrimp, lean tuna with salt, sea urchin, toro roll, octopus, egg (finale) were all delicious and better than what I have had at other sushi restaurants. The flounder from Hakodate was thick and chewy, with a fantastic texture. On the other hand, the amberjack was thin but also had an amazing texture. The shrimp from Amakusa with miso had a unique chewy texture and a wonderful shrimp aroma. The bonito tataki from Makurazaki was grilled with straw, giving it a fantastic smoked aroma. The toro roll is usually made as a roll, but here it was served as sushi, which was interesting. All the carefully selected ingredients from around the country were excellent and well worth the price. The only downside is that the facility is old. While there are no issues eating at the counter, the toilet door is peeling and lacks cleanliness compared to the first floor when I used the second floor for dinner the other day. It's not a problem for regular use, but it may be a bit lacking for entertaining VIP guests. Other than that, there are no complaints. I revisited this restaurant for lunch after a long time and realized once again why it's so popular. It's truly a great deal for this price in front of Ebisu station. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I would love to come back again.

This time I ordered the pine course (5700 yen)! It came with 14 pieces of sushi and 2 side dishes, and I was very satisfied. The most delicious was the seared nodoguro. The tuna was also delicious. Overall, the balance was good, and I was very satisfied. It's enough to fill a woman's stomach. Men might want to order more. Highly recommended!

The staff was very attentive in accommodating a last-minute change in the number of people. I had the lunch course at the counter. For each dish, the origin and how to eat it were explained, allowing me to enjoy it very much. The wide selection of whiskies is also a recommended point.

This is a restaurant review of "Matsuei Ebisu Honten", a place I have been wanting to visit for a while. The head chef here trained at my favorite sushi restaurant "Rinda". Located diagonally across from "Kamamoto Tanbei", it is a 2-3 minute walk from the station. I visited for the 5:30 pm seating. The restaurant has both counter and table seating, with enough space for more guests than a typical sushi counter. There were three sushi chefs at first glance. The atmosphere was relaxed, without the typical intense vibe of a sushi restaurant. The course menu was mostly prepared in advance, with some dishes like the oyster being quite small. The dishes included various ingredients like Dandong black beans, Hokkaido sea urchin with jelly, and an appetizer of crab and jelly. The dishes were good, but some seemed like they were pre-made and stored in the fridge. The shrimp marinated in seaweed was surprisingly refreshing. The matsutake mushroom and shark fin chawanmushi was flavorful with a great texture. The flounder with foie gras sauce was a standout dish. The abalone and liver sauce risotto was disappointing, being watery. The grilled cutlassfish was firm, but not very fatty. The course ended with a variety of nigiri sushi, which were decent but lacked any standout pieces. Overall, the experience was decent for the price of 13,200 yen, but the additional 4 pieces of nigiri for 18,000 yen seemed questionable.

This is my third visit, and it's always a satisfying sushi restaurant! They only have a lunch menu, but I always order the Matsuzushi! You can enjoy sushi slowly at the counter. The chef is friendly and engaging! The sushi was delicious as always, just like in the photos! We ordered an additional two pieces each, and my companion's favorite was the negitoro! I enjoyed the hirame! It's great that they have a variety of seasonal ingredients! I've already decided to visit again! Thank you for the meal!

Established in 1966 (Showa 41), "Matsuei" is located in Ebisu with its main store. I made a reservation in advance for a business dinner. I was guided to a private room on the second floor after climbing the stairs. We ordered the chef's choice course, which included 9 appetizers and 10 pieces of sushi. I was pleased to see a variety of appetizers for the drinkers. The menu listed only a few types of sake, but on the day there were 10 brands available, so we each enjoyed a glass of our favorite. The dishes were all delicious. For the sushi, we were given a brush to apply soy sauce ourselves. I prefer lighter flavors, so I lightly brushed the soy sauce and enjoyed the sushi. The restaurant is clean and I think it is a great place for business dinners. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

You can enjoy a course for 30,000 yen for two people, with each person paying 15,000 yen. The dishes include delicious dishes such as Watarigani Awabi, Ankimo, liver tare, Hirame Ankimo with vinegar rice, Katsuo sashimi, refreshing crab and chawanmushi, Kue simmered dish, Kanjankenjan, Hamo, Aji, Saba, Karasumi and Nodoguro, Quail egg topped Maguro, Anago, Uni nigiri, and more. The variety of dishes is enjoyable for adults, and it's interesting to taste dishes that you may not have appreciated in the past. The menu changes with the seasons, making it a place worth visiting regularly.

I was taken to the recommended sushi restaurant, Matsuei Ebisu Main Store, by a friend. We ordered the 5700 yen course. The dishes included a salad of raw seaweed, boiled young fish, various nigiri sushi such as flatfish from Hakodate, marinated sea bream from Izumi, seared scallop from Tomakomai, bluefin tuna from Shiogama, sea urchin from Nemuro, golden-eye snapper from Choshi, grilled mackerel from Ohara, seasonal fish from Kushiro, seared beltfish from Koshiba, stick sushi of golden cutlassfish from Ishinomaki, marinated white shrimp from Amakusa, seared fatty tuna topped with quail egg from Shiogama, and a comparison of conger eel from Tsushima. We also had red miso soup and seared scallop, although I forgot to take a picture of the scallop. The cost performance is amazing, right? I was so full after the meal. My friend learned about this place from someone at the dancyu editorial department, so it must be reliable. The chef's meticulous craftsmanship is truly amazing, and he pays great attention to the origin of the ingredients. We were able to enjoy the seasonal ingredients to the fullest. Even though we just visited today, I already want to go back! We made a promise to revisit when the season changes.
