The atmosphere had a traditional feel. There were only two of us in the restaurant. Despite it being the peak time at 12:30, an elderly man was running the place alone. The whole place felt greasy. Looking at the menu, the prices were indeed cheap, just like they used to be. It was nice to see they were maintaining their traditional style. The old-fashioned towel handkerchief was a nice touch. Now, the 730 yen miso ramen soup had some flavor, but it was too salty and lacked miso taste. The broth and richness were lacking. The noodles were not what I expected, not egg noodles! They lacked flavor. The stir-fried vegetables were cooked well, even though the portion was small. The bamboo shoots were average. The chashu was small and tough, but it had some flavor.

Nostalgic Sapporo ramen shop with a unique chain style that was popular in the past. The miso ramen tasted like Ramenya, with a small serving of rice. It took quite some time to be served, but the presentation was excellent. The elderly man who served us alone did a great job.

I visited "Ramen Horyu Asao Store" on November 5th for the first time. I went there alone for dinner at 8:00 pm. There is no parking lot available. Across the road, there is a paid parking lot in the shopping street. I entered through a white half-curtain. The entrance and the curtain are slightly misaligned, but it's okay. There are counter seats on the right side, with a kitchen in between. Acrylic panels are used as partitions. There are table seats at the back. There were no other customers at the time. The owner came out from the back. It seems like he's running the place alone. I sat at the second counter seat from the back. I checked the menu. I decided to go with the top item, Miso Ramen for 730 yen. Salt and Shoyu (soy sauce) are also the same price. By the way, it's called Shoyu, not soy sauce. It reminded me of an old-fashioned term. They use a pay-first, eat-later system here. They provided a wet towel and water first. The wet towel was a cloth type, which is nice. Disposable towels feel bland. The food was served in about 7 minutes. The owner personally brought the food to the counter. Sometimes there are places that hand over the food across the counter. They cook the noodles without using a timer. They check the firmness by pressing the noodles with their fingers while timing it. I haven't seen that in a while. It's okay to hand-roll sushi, but pressing the noodles with fingers feels a bit off. The toppings were small slices of Chashu, slightly firm Menma, crunchy kikurage mushrooms, sliced green onions, bean sprouts, and onions. The crunchiness of the bean sprouts and onions was nice. The soup had a noticeable layer of fat on top. You can enjoy the hot ingredients and noodles until the end. The sweetness of the miso was present, which was okay. The noodles were curly noodles with a strong yellow color. Personally, I found them a bit too soft. I think they are medium-thin noodles, but it's hard to tell when they are soft. Maybe the water content is high. I wonder if they would get it right if I asked for firmer noodles next time? The restaurant has a rating of 3.02 on Tabelog (as of November 8, 2022), but I would give it a slightly higher rating. Next time, I want to try the Aroma Miso or Spicy Miso for 830 yen and the half-fried rice for 270 yen (only when ordering with ramen). Thank you for the meal.

When it gets hot, my symptoms worsen, as I have a designated rare disease by the government. There is no cure for my rare disease yet, but I temporarily improve my symptoms by receiving "blood products" for 5 consecutive days. Last year, I was hospitalized 5 times for rare disease treatment. On April 4th, I was admitted to the hospital for the second time this year. While I am hospitalized, I may not be able to like or comment, but I will definitely do so later. Your supportive comments are always a source of encouragement for me during my hospital stays. I am truly grateful for them. Thank you for your continued support. In April 2022, I will only be posting reviews that I prepared before my hospitalization. "Horyu Ramen" is a ramen chain with its main store in Sapporo. The main store in Sapporo was established in 1957. Each store has different tastes, prices, and set menus. I visited the Asahikawa store of "Horyu" for lunch with my usual companion after a long time. This store is located near Asahikawa Station in Sapporo's Kita-ku Asahikawa-cho area. Please check the exact location of the restaurant on Tabelog. I visited around 1 pm on a weekend. The restaurant has counter seats and table seats. There were no customers in front of us, and only two customers behind us. We sat at a table. The Asahikawa store offers lunch menus. During lunchtime, the "miso, salt, and soy sauce" flavors are priced at 730 yen but discounted to 650 yen. Additionally, during lunchtime, you can get a large serving of noodles or a small rice for 700 yen, which is a good deal. "Horyu Ramen" is known for its miso ramen. There is no ticket machine at the store. I ordered the "Lunch Miso Ramen Large Serving for 700 yen." My usual companion ordered the "Lunch Miso Ramen for 650 yen." After waiting for 6 minutes, our two bowls of miso ramen arrived. We also asked for garlic on the side. ■ Miso Ramen Noodles: Medium-thick curly Sapporo noodles, cooked to a soft texture. Soup: Hot and simple with a nostalgic flavor, strong miso aroma. Adding garlic enhances the umami flavor. The soup is gentle on the body but has a solid miso taste. Minimal surface oil. Toppings: Chashu, bean sprouts, onions, menma, wood ear mushrooms, green onions Lunch Price: 650 yen (tax included) Large Serving: 700 yen (tax included) This miso ramen has a nostalgic taste of Showa era ramen. It's a miso ramen without the heaviness of lard, strong flavors, or excess oil. Adding garlic gives the flavor a nice kick. This Asahikawa store offers a comforting taste. It would be convenient to have a ramen shop like this near my home, but unfortunately, it's far from where I live. I look forward to visiting during lunchtime again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I met up with a friend I haven't seen in 10 years and stopped by a place in Azabu for a drink after. In the past, Ho-ryu was well-known not only in Sapporo but also in various parts of Hokkaido. However, nowadays it has been overshadowed by popular restaurants, and there are only a few branches left in Sapporo and Azabu. At Ho-ryu, I ordered the soy sauce ramen and also tried the dipping noodles. The noodles were not thick but were medium-thick and curly, which seemed to be a signature of this long-standing establishment. The noodles were served cold and were delicious when dipped in the slightly sweet soup. It didn't have the heaviness of thick noodles, but you could sense the pride of the old establishment. I asked for an extra serving of noodles, but unfortunately, they didn't offer it. I had to make do with drinking up the soup. Overall, I was satisfied with the experience!

In Sapporo, Hokkaido, there is a ramen shop called "Ramen Horyu Aso Store" in Aso Town, Kita-ku. The Aso area has a lot of dining options, and this time I tried their Negi Ramen in soy sauce flavor for 900 yen. I wanted to order a mini fried rice as well, but the owner said they couldn't make it because the rice was just cooked. The lunchtime offer includes free rice, so I decided to have that. The ramen arrived in about 7 minutes, topped with plenty of white leeks. The curly yellow noodles and sparkling soup looked great. The taste was a bit salty for my liking, but the freshly cooked rice complemented it well. Overall, it was a satisfying meal!

Miso ramen is 730 yen, but during lunchtime it's 650 yen♪ It's been a while since I had hot ramen. I've heard that the taste of Horyu can vary depending on the store, but I wonder how it is here? The soup is a little sweet and on the rich side. The chashu is delicious, and I don't sense any gamey flavor♪ It's generally tasty, but a bit salty (sweat). I also ordered half fried rice for an additional 270 yen! The fried rice is also flavorful (sweat). Should I ask for more rice? Lol.

At Asou, I tried the "shime" ramen for the first time at Houryu. I usually don't eat "shime" ramen, but I ordered it on a whim while I was drunk. So, please excuse the brief content of this review. The soy sauce ramen I ordered was priced at 730 yen, and it's nice that all three flavors are the same price, haha. It was served in about 7-8 minutes, and it looked simple. The soup had a lot of onions and tasted milder than it looked. It was delicious and perfect for someone who's had a few drinks. The noodles were cooked just right, and I finished them in no time! Thank you for the meal!

After enjoying some ladder drinks in Asao and singing karaoke, we had a bit of room in our stomachs so we decided to stop for ramen before heading home. There are many ramen shops in this area, but I had a craving for corn butter ramen so we chose "Horyu". Even though it was late at night, there were a few customers sitting at the counter, so we sat at a table in the back. Unfortunately, they were out of rice that day so I couldn't have the half fried rice I wanted, but I did order the corn butter ramen with salt flavor that I had been wanting. My husband ordered the miso ramen, which had a rich and hot soup that wasn't too heavy. The corn butter ramen had plenty of corn and the buttery richness mixed well with the light salt soup, making it very delicious. Ramen is definitely the perfect way to end the night. ♡

I was concerned about my weight, so I only had one bowl of ramen on this trip. It was late at night, so I went to Boryu near the hotel, and the soup was reminiscent of local Niigata ramen for some reason (laughs).

In Sapporo City, Kita-ku, there is Ramen Horyu Aso Branch. It is located right across the road from Asahikawa Station's number 1 exit. The area near Asahikawa Station is a fierce battleground for ramen shops. Among them are "Nakajima", "Kitayama Ryu", "Toshishun", "Ramen 41", "Asakura", and more. This time, I tried Ramen Horyu Aso Branch due to time constraints. I ordered miso ramen, half fried rice, and gyoza. The taste was not mind-blowing, but it's the kind of place you find yourself returning to every now and then when it's nearby. Thank you for the meal.

I'm sorry, this is a drunk person's tweet. Walking outside, the fishy smell reminds me of the crescent moon diner. When I arrived at the restaurant after 11pm, it was full of drunk people, including myself! I was already very drunk, haha. Of course, I finished with a miso ramen! The elderly chef carefully tasting the broth, with a sense of dedication. The gentle and mellow flavor of the miso ramen brings a sense of comfort rather than just being delicious. Ah, it's so soothing. The elderly chef who is serving proper food to us drunk people who can't appreciate the taste at this late hour. His back view is cool. I really hope this kind of restaurant can continue to exist for a long time.

One New Year's Day, I had lunch at a ramen shop that happened to be perfect for starting work again. It seemed like there was no parking lot. The interior of the shop was simple, with a counter and tables at the back. The background music was the results of a relay race coming from an AM radio. On this day, I decided to try the lunchtime special "Salt Ramen (600 yen)" and since I was there, I also ordered the "Half Fried Rice (250 yen)". Let's take a bite... The noodles were a medium-thin, slightly yellow curly type with a soft, chewy texture. The soup had a shiny oil film on top, showing the creamy richness of animal flavors, and it was slightly thick and not too salty, which was appreciated. The ingredients included crunchy onions, bean sprouts, green onions, wood ear mushrooms, sweet bamboo shoots coated in oil, and tender slices of char siu. Next, the freshly cooked half fried rice was piping hot, with a perfect seasoning that subtly brought out the pepper flavor. It was a simple but delicious fried rice, with well-cooked onions and bacon. Due to work commitments, I may not have many chances to visit again, but if the opportunity arises, I would like to come back. Thank you for the meal.

[Revisit] In June 2015, in Kita-ku, Sapporo, I visited the Ramen Horyu Asahikawa branch. This time, I ordered the spicy miso ramen and half fried rice. I visited around midnight on a weekend, and it was really crowded, with the husband and wife owners seeming a bit overwhelmed. The ramen was the spicy miso flavor, but personally, it felt a bit salty. The fried rice was average, tasting like something made at home... More than the taste, the environment seemed challenging with many people seeming to be drunk at this time. I wasn't drinking at all, so it was uncomfortable being around intoxicated individuals. I will consider the day of the week and time before visiting next time. Thank you for the meal. [First Post] In February 2015, in Kita-ku, Sapporo, I visited the Ramen Horyu Asahikawa branch. I managed to finish everything with ease, but there wasn't any particularly impressive deliciousness. It's the kind of place where you might stop by occasionally because it's nearby. Thank you for the meal.
