Hotel Paco seems to have changed its name in June 2016. I will visit again to confirm at a later date. Please understand that this review is based on my visit in April 2016.
April 2016: After having a few drinks with friends, I had to catch a train back to Sapporo. It was my first day of a business trip, so we decided to go to this bar near the station as our second stop. It is a bar located in Hotel Paco Asahikawa. This hotel offers not only business services but also hot springs and karaoke. The bar has a casual atmosphere, suitable for a business hotel. The highlight was the view of Asahikawa's night scenery. I enjoyed a couple of shots and decided to stop at two drinks as I had to head back to Sapporo. It's a nice bar for a light drink before catching the last train.

I heard from a local that the shot bar on the 14th floor of Hotel Paco Asahikawa near Asahikawa Station is recommended for all-you-can-drink. You pass through the front lobby and take the elevator to get there. It is also connected to a karaoke bar. There are two seating options: a counter and sofa seats. The customers seemed to be mostly solo travelers staying at the hotel. The night view of snow falling is not as open as Edisons due to the many buildings around. I ordered the 120-minute all-you-can-drink + snack set for 3,000 yen (tax included). The all-you-can-drink option is available for groups of two or more. I chose chocolate and potato chips for snacks. I ordered whiskey, cocktails, shochu, and whatever I felt like drinking at the time from the menu. I lost count of how many drinks I had in 120 minutes. I had a very enjoyable time chatting with the bartender and gathering information about Asahikawa. It's a convenient place to drink cheaply. However, it can be a bit tough if heavy smokers are nearby.

I arrived at the hotel at 9 pm, completely drunk and exhausted, but managed to recover by staying up all night! (laughs) Since I was already up, I decided to head to the bar on the upper floor. I took the elevator, walked down the hallway, and found the karaoke room on the left and the cocktail bar on the right. The bar was empty except for me, which made me a bit nervous. The apprentice bartender made me a Moscow Mule, which was delicious as a welcome drink. The bar had a glass window overlooking the bustling nightlife outside. It was my first time experiencing such a view at night. The atmosphere was different from the Grand Hotel's bar. I then ordered the recommended frozen cocktail, which was perfectly balanced in terms of acidity. It had a strong strawberry flavor, which made me smile. Lastly, I chose a rich cocktail made with eggs and milk. It was a creamy and satisfying drink, perfect for the winter season. The bar is open until 3 am on weekends, starting at 5 pm, making it convenient for a night out. I'm thinking of visiting the sauna on the lower floor before coming here next time for dinner. It's a good plan, if I do say so myself! (self-praise?!)

Today is a solo trip to an izakaya in Asahikawa. After taking a bath at the hotel with hot springs, let's start from the hotel bar. I started with a gin and tonic at "Lovers." There were no other customers. I sat alone at the counter, enjoying a izakaya-style gin and tonic. It's great to have a bar open early. Next, I switched from cocktails to whiskey. I ordered Talisker straight. Also, please bring a chaser. The bar is located on the top floor of the hotel. It seems convenient for groups. Thank you for the meal. This time, I stayed at Hotel Paco Asahikawa, so I used this restaurant on the top floor of the hotel. As a benefit for guests, there is a welcome drink service, and on weekdays, there is a happy hour service where you can drink beer or sours for 200 yen until 9:00 PM. Since I used it after dinner, I only ordered pizza and a cheese platter from the food menu, which was very authentic and delicious. In particular, the cheese platter offered a variety of options to choose from. With a Paco Gold Card, you can receive a 10% discount, which makes it very cost-effective.
