When I entered Kushiro, I had already decided to stop by Don Quijote on my way back. Actually, I had tried going in before, but I was intimidated by the crowdedness and long lines at the checkout, so I ended up leaving. Today, I was determined to shop no matter what. I don't just want anything, I want something unique, but I don't have much time and there doesn't seem to be anything that fits the bill. I settled on dango, but I'm not sure what makes it Don Quijote-like. Don Quijote placed dango on his child's head and shot an arrow through it, so dango definitely qualifies. But that's not enough, so I also got bacon as a snack. I'm not sure what makes it Don Quijote-like either. Don Quijote lined up his three children and showed them that a single piece of bacon can be easily broken, but three pieces together cannot be broken. Do you get it? The dango itself is hard but not too chewy, and the filling is rich and delicious. As for the bacon, it was as tasty as I imagined - not too greasy, with a mild flavor. Overall, it was a delicious experience.

I arrived at the store around 10:30 in July 2023. If you're planning to visit Don Quijote, it's best to go early on a weekday as the crowd can be off-putting at night. My main reason for visiting was to try the "yakiimo" (baked sweet potato) at Don Quijote. They were selling it piping hot and fresh. I personally prefer my yakiimo warm rather than hot, and this one from the Kushiro branch (unofficial) of the Baked Sweet Potato Association is my favorite. It remains delicious even after 3 hours of purchase. The sweet potato was sticky and moist, incredibly sweet, and quite large. I shared it with my companion, but it was so delicious that I could easily eat a whole one by myself. The taste, portion size, and value for money were all excellent.
