On a certain holiday, I stopped by Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store on my way home, which seems to have opened relatively recently, to visit a shop that sells pudding made with quail eggs and seasoned quail eggs. The store is located next to Shirokuma Sandwich Shop on the basement floor, with a space of two showcases wide. From the menu that day, it seems that the shop mainly sells pudding made with quail eggs and quail eggs seasoned in various ways. I wasn't particularly picky, so I decided to try a few items. I tried the "Quail Egg Pudding Plain (426 yen tax included)" which had a relatively pale appearance. After taking a bite... Wow, it's rich! The ingredients are said to include Hokkaido fresh milk, quail eggs, cream, sugar, etc., but it's a mystery which one is dominant. It had an intense richness and oiliness, and the benefits of quail eggs were a mystery to me, but it left a strong impression. I also tried the "Flavored Tamago 5 pieces (306 yen tax included)" which uses "slightly kombu dashi," and after taking a bite... It was not too salty, but the umami flavor had penetrated into the egg, leaving a good impression. Lastly, I tried the "Smoked Tamago 5 pieces (306 yen tax included)," which looked similar to the Flavored Tamago but had a smoky aroma when I opened the bag. After taking a bite... The base was similar to the Flavored Tamago, but the aroma was different, giving a different impression. Both were delicious. I suddenly realized that I love quail eggs. However, one quail egg costs about 70 yen including tax, and the pudding in this small jar size costs about 470 yen... With the three items above, the total cost was over 1,000 yen including tax. I wonder if customers in Sapporo will be willing to pay that much. Thank you for the meal.
