I was welcomed by a warm message card placed on the counter, and from the start, there were specialty dishes on display, as well as original and creative sushi and dishes. The sushi prepared by the smiling chef was so delicious that it left me speechless, and I couldn't help but wonder what would come next. I opted for the member-exclusive menu with specialty dishes and all-you-can-drink (¥16,500). Here is the menu that filled my stomach and heart:
- Specialty -
Tempura of fatty tuna topped with sea urchin and yuzu pepper sauce. A luxurious combination of crispy rare fatty tuna, creamy sea urchin, shallots, and yuzu pepper sauce on a bed of high-grade seaweed and rice.
- Palate cleanser -
Refreshing yuzu squash to cleanse the palate.
- Appetizer (sashimi) -
Bonito, medium fatty tuna. The bonito is seared, bursting with rich umami flavors. The lightly seared medium fatty tuna is melt-in-your-mouth delicious with a sweet fattiness. The thick slices were a pleasant surprise.
- Sushi (four pieces) -
Edomae-style kohada, horse mackerel, sandfish, barracuda. The kohada is elegantly vinegared, light and refreshing. The horse mackerel is tender with a hint of ginger and green onions. The sandfish marinated in kelp is subtly flavorful. The barracuda with seared skin has a delicate yet deep taste.
- Grilled dish -
Grilled sea bream with yuzu sauce. The sea bream wrapped in seaweed is handed over hot. The tender and flaky flesh is mouth-watering, making it perfect for pairing with sake.
After enjoying two glasses of dry CAVA, I switched to white wine "Baron Philippe de Sauvignon Blanc 2020".
- Sushi (four pieces) -
Bigfin reef squid, fatty tuna, mantis shrimp, fatty tuna. The bigfin reef squid is chewy with a hint of salt and yuzu. The fatty tuna and pickled radish are a classic combination. The mantis shrimp with a sweet sauce is delightful. The fatty tuna is topped with soy sauce and sautéed shallots.
- Unique sushi -
Dragon Ball roll with rich red soup sauce. A luxurious roll with fatty tuna, tuna, plenty of sea urchin, and a shiny egg yolk. The creamy egg yolk pairs beautifully with the lavish ingredients, enhancing the flavors.
- Intermezzo -
Simmered tuna with cream cheese. As expected, I craved red wine and enjoyed a glass of "De Gras Pinot Noir" as my final drink.
- Chef's creation eel dog -
Unagi grilled in the Kansai style, crispy skin, tender flesh, and exceptional sauce.
- Mini rice bowl and seaweed miso soup -
Despite feeling full, I devoured the salmon roe, tuna, and white fish chirashi with just the right portion size.
- Dessert -
White chocolate and berry mousse with mango sauce. The visually appealing mousse reminiscent of a Dragon Ball was light and airy with a hint of acidity, a perfect ending to the meal.
Looking at the entire course, it felt like I had consumed a substantial amount of rice, but the sushi rice was small in size and well-balanced, allowing me to enjoy every bite until the end. The value for money sushi with specialty dishes and all-you-can-drink was a delight for a sake lover like me. My favorites were the specialty dishes, Dragon Ball roll, and eel dog. The unique offerings make me want to visit again soon.
