Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. This is the Shinjuku branch of Azabu-Juban's Michelin Guide-listed restaurant "Tenpura Yokota". Opened in August 2021. The nearest stations are Shinjuku Station, Shinjuku Sanchome Station, Seibu Shinjuku Station, Shinjuku Nishiguchi Station, among others. Located on the basement floor of a commercial building along Yasukuni Street. We had a satisfying course meal of sushi and tempura ✧٩(。•̀ᴗ-)人(-ᴗ´•。)۶✧Yatta! After a busy business trip back and forth to Yamanashi in December, I treated myself to this place that I had reserved in advance. It was almost full with many customers arriving before and after us at 7 pm on a weekday. There were relatively many young customers, probably due to the location. There were also customers from Western countries. I could see at least 4 staff members. We sat at the counter seats where we could enjoy the craftsmanship of the chefs up close. There are also several private rooms available. The atmosphere was not too formal, and it felt homey (*^ω^) The hot towel had a nice scent of cologne, which was refreshing. I'm not very familiar with it, but it had a pleasant scent, which helped me relax (*´-`) We were handed the drink menu and I ordered the classic sake. [Drinks] Nabeshima Special Junmai 1300 yenTanshu Special Junmai 1300 yenKudoki Jouzu Bakuren Ginjo Extra Dry 1000 yen*Each serving. Only my selection is mentioned. We started with the appetizer (appetizer), took a bite of the Tosazu vinegar, and had a gulp of Nabeshima♪︎ We entered the world of Japanese cuisine in one go. The visual presentation is beautiful, isn't it (o^-')b! The crunchy texture of the Bai clam, which I rarely eat, was exceptional. Next, we had the steamed dish of crab and lily root. Around that time, the staff showed us a box containing 8 types of fish roe, and we chose 3. The classic soft and rich-flavored ikura, the crunchy golden caviar, and the jet-black hybrid. The sushi rice is placed underneath. Fish roe definitely goes well with vinegared rice d(・∀・`*) Now, it's time for sushi. Starting with a bang with Otoro! The king is indeed delicious♪︎(๑´ڡ`๑) The sushi rice is small and easy to eat. I haven't had Ebi sushi in a while. Next, the other main dish, tempura, was served. I love the Tanshu sake. We had a splendid Carabinero prawn, a fluffy hairtail, a meaty shiitake mushroom, and a plump scallop. We enjoyed them with salt and lemon. There is also curry powder on the table φ(..) Towards the end, a crisp♪︎ switch to Kudoki Jouzu Bakuren, and a break with the simmered dish and oyster Chawanmushi. Then, more sushi. We started with the fatty part of the seared Kinmedai, and of course, we wanted some Akami. The Yamagata beef steak roll topped with Bafun Uni was perfect. Finally, we had the red miso soup with Ise Ebi. For dessert, strawberries and Dekopon. The meal was served in a specific order.
