When it comes to Sapporo, it's all about soup curry! I was looking for a good place and was drawn in by the sign. I chose the recommended miso-flavored soup with chicken thigh combination. It was definitely soup curry, but with a mysterious sensation of miso in the aftertaste. I immersed myself in the Japanese-style lingering flavor and finished it all. It was delicious. Next time, I want to try the seafood soup with pork belly.

The soup curry restaurant that opened on 6/10. The description of the restaurant states that it offers a different kind of soup curry from the traditional ones, focusing on enjoying GOKURI within the framework of soup curry with the motto "deliciousness is justice." I visited on a weekday at 11:45 and the restaurant was about half full, but by the time I left, it was almost full. The interior had a stylish cafe-like atmosphere with counter and table seating. I ordered the "Ultimate Soup with Tender Chicken Thigh (1380 yen)" which came with a choice of 3 types of soup (or upgrade to miso ultimate soup (+100 yen) or ocean ultimate soup (+100 yen)). The spiciness level couldn't be chosen, but it could be adjusted with chili pepper on the table. The owner recommended miso soup, but I chose the classic ultimate soup as it was my first time. It arrived in about 10 minutes in a wooden bowl with a colorful soup and sides of salad, rice, and papadum. The soup had a slightly oily surface, was mild and not bad, but lacked depth and became a bit watery towards the end, maybe the owner's recommendation of miso soup would have been better. The rice was slightly firm Indica rice, which was good. The variety of vegetables in the dish was nice, but they were cut thinly and long, making it a bit difficult to eat. The chicken was tender and passable. The cost performance was decent compared to the soup curry prices in Sapporo, but the soup portion was a bit small. The service was still a bit unpolished, but the energetic and polite service from the owner with drawings on their arms and neck was nice. Overall, the soup curry was decent with a good concept and presentation, although it lacked a bit in flavor (depth). I might revisit to try the miso soup after some time.

Located in the area near Subway Nishi 11-chome Station, just a short walk from North 1st Street, this soup curry restaurant used to be a curry shop before. I decided to stop by for dinner and found that the shop had changed. The entrance is narrow, and the interior has a cafe-like atmosphere with tables and counter seats. It was dinner time, so there were quite a few customers. The male owner was managing the place alone, and it seemed quite busy as the shop had recently opened. There were about five curry options on the menu, and I ordered the "Soft Chicken Leg" in the "Extreme Soup" style with regular rice. All curries come with fresh vegetables and papadum on the side. The "Extreme" soup is included in the price, but other soups are available for an additional fee. Rice size upgrades are also available for a fee, and spiciness cannot be adjusted, so you can adjust it yourself with the condiments on the table. Surprisingly, my order was ready in about 10 minutes. The soup had a light yet slightly thick flavor that would appeal to many. Besides the chicken leg, the curry contained potatoes, cabbage, carrots, eggplant, pumpkin, lotus root, quail egg, and mushrooms, all of which were deliciously cooked. I was seated at the counter, and the wooden bowl containing the rice was so large that I found it difficult to eat comfortably without knocking into the soup bowl. Although the portion size wasn't very large, and the price may seem a bit high, the soup curry was delicious, making it a good option for those looking to enjoy soup curry in this area.

On the other side of the door was a restaurant with a delicious aroma of spices. The rice was served in wooden bowls similar to what I saw at MARUYAMA LODGE 5&. The presentation was memorable and unique, which I think is better than being forgettable and eventually phased out. I tried the Soup Curry at GOKURI, where you can choose from three types of soup. As it was my first time, I went with the basic soup and added tender chicken thigh meat and crispy tempura-fried chrysanthemum leaves. The chrysanthemum leaves added a lot of volume to the dish. The Soup Curry was filled with plenty of vegetables such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, eggplants, bell peppers, lotus roots, and quail eggs. The ingredients were plentiful and delicious, especially the potatoes. The chicken was tender and had a good texture, while the Soup Curry had a rich flavor with a pleasant herbal spice aroma. The Basmati rice was light and went well with the vegetable-filled Soup Curry. However, I felt that the chrysanthemum leaves could have been less oily, and the amount of Soup Curry was a bit less considering the abundance of vegetables. The soup cooled down quickly, and I found myself wanting more by the time it was finished. I look forward to trying different soups and toppings next time! Today, a new restaurant opened, but unfortunately, they don't have a phone number available. It's a bit concerning that you can't contact them for reservations, forgotten items, or emergencies. It would be nice if they could consider the customer's perspective. Now, onto the new restaurant that opened where Hanaguruma used to be. It's run by a man with tattoos on his arms and neck, but I'm not a fan of the serious, slicked back hair look. But that's not important. I came here to eat soup curry. I chose the basic soup curry with the option to add miso for an extra 100 yen or seafood for an extra 180 yen. I went with the tender pork belly for 1,460 yen. The soup was rich and flavorful, unlike anything I've had before, and it was delicious. I'm curious to try the miso and seafood soups next time. The only downside is that the portion of soup was a bit small, with the vegetables floating on top. Oh, and the wooden bowl they serve it in looks familiar...I think I've seen it somewhere before, maybe at a pasta restaurant in Minami Maruyama.
