JR Gotanda Station Central ticket gate, go to the West exit (right) and when you get out of the West exit, turn left and cross the pedestrian crossing, then go straight to the right and cross the pedestrian crossing in front of FamilyMart. Cross the bridge and go straight ahead to find Starbucks. The restaurant is located on the 6th floor of that building. I had the Chef's Omakase Nigiri Dinner Course. ~Course Contents~ *Appetizer *Five assorted appetizers *Steamed dish *Seasonal delicacy *Nigiri sushi *Seared kurodai rice bowl *Soup *Dessert The appetizer served upon arrival was a clear soup with shijimi clams, warming the body on cold days. The five assorted appetizers included dishes like ankimo simmered in soy sauce, shrimp, marinated sea bream, pickled cauliflower, blowfish liver, crab shinjo, pumpkin castella, marinated herring, cream cheese and sea bream with sake lees. Among these, the standout for me was the blowfish liver, with its exquisite jelly-like texture. The nigiri sushi included chu-toro, flounder, marinated sea bream, mackerel rice bowl, assorted dishes, and seared kurodai rice bowl, with the tuna marinated in yuzu providing a nice touch. The kohada and sumiika nigiri were seasoned with salt made from sumiika, adding a unique flavor. The golden eye snapper was a personal favorite due to its thick, moist taste. The rice bowl with seared blackthroat seaperch on uni mixed rice was a signature dish worth savoring. The crab sauce steamed egg custard was a delightful addition to the meal. The soup with wheat gluten and tofu was comforting, and the dessert of matcha mousse with red bean paste was a perfect end to the meal. I enjoyed Fukui prefecture's Sari Gohyakumangoku sake and GOTTAS DE Japanese tea special gyokuro. The Sari Gohyakumangoku sake had a gentle citrus aroma and refreshing taste, while the GOTTAS DE Japanese tea special gyokuro offered a rich aroma and mellow flavor. It is a premium gyokuro tea from Uji, Kyoto, with a unique extraction method developed over three years. This tea was served to world leaders at the 2016 G7 Ise-Shima Summit and the 2019 Osaka Summit.

A sushi restaurant that has won a Michelin one-star rating for two consecutive years is also located in Gotanda. There are a total of 7 stores in Tokyo and 13 stores nationwide. The menu consists only of chef's choice courses. The head chef is very friendly, and the conversation flowed smoothly across the counter. The Nigiri dinner course costs 10,900 yen and includes a variety of dishes such as appetizers, nigiri sushi, steamed egg, steamed dish, and miso soup. Each dish is carefully prepared and presented, with highlights like the marinated squid ink in the squid nigiri, the lightly seared fatty tuna that melts in your mouth, and the fluffy eel. The meal ends with a delicious egg custard and a flavorful miso soup with clams.

If you want to enjoy a variety of artistic creations in front of your eyes, produced by a chef who has won a Michelin one-star rating, then the Omakase dinner course at (`・ω・´)_Eat What_φ(..)メモ is the way to go! The course costs 15,900 yen and before starting, they will ask about any food preferences or allergies you may have. I mentioned that I don't like sea urchin (Uni), and even though the chef must have been troubled, he kindly changed the menu without any fuss (ㅅ´ ˘ `) Here is the course content: Appetizer Five types of appetizers Steamed dish Seasonal delicacy Sushi Seared mackerel mini bowl Soup Dessert Details: - Appetizers: Katsu salad, sweetened herring, blowfish, pickled lotus root, and spicy cod roe with sea bream - Squid with salt: A new discovery of squid with a powdered texture of squid ink - Kelp-marinated red sea bream: Delicate flavors of kelp spread throughout - Horse mackerel: Enhanced by the combination of green onion and ginger - Sea urchin and salmon roe sauce: A luxurious sauce made by crushing soy sauce-pickled salmon roe - Black sea bream and sea urchin rice: A combination of white fish and sea urchin, a luxurious delight - Seasonal delicacy - Grilled spiny lobster with sea urchin soy sauce: Succulent lobster grilled to perfection - Deep-fried scallop in kataifi: A crispy coating with a thick scallop inside - Chestnuts and ginkgo nuts: A taste of autumn - Finale: Mackerel with yuzu pepper, a surprisingly fresh taste Overall, the course was a delightful experience with a variety of flavors and textures, showcasing the chef's skill and creativity.

A new and innovative food and beverage company that specializes in creating top-notch sushi restaurants. Pleasure Foods, based in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, stands out for its stealthy approach to restaurant management, opening high-quality sushi restaurants with unique individuality. Some notable establishments include Sushi Seikai and the recently visited Sushi Matsumoto. These restaurants are set at a slightly lower price point compared to high-end establishments, but maintain a level of quality that sets them apart from chain restaurants. Among the various locations visited, "Ginza Kiyoshi" was particularly impressive. While the sushi craftsmanship at Sushi Matsumoto in Gotanda was not as refined as some other top-tier establishments, it still offered a decent level of quality at a reasonable price. The fish slices were somewhat lacking in perfection and the service interactions were a bit disappointing, but overall, it was a decent option in Gotanda. It seems that there are restaurants with highly skilled artisans and those that are still honing their craft, and Sushi Matsumoto falls somewhere in between.

I found this restaurant while looking for a good sushi restaurant for a work appreciation party with friends who only work. It had been a while since I went to a non-conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but everything was really delicious - squid, sea bream, marinated tuna, medium fatty tuna, etc. The black snapper and sea urchin rice that came out in the middle was especially delicious. The restaurant is about a 5-minute walk from Gotanda, so it was easy to get to. The chef seemed to have worked at another sushi restaurant before, so maybe they hire freelance staff? The alcohol was also delicious, so I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

"Enjoyed an early dinner at Gotanda Sushi Matsumoto. Located in a building near Gotanda station in a business district. Had made a reservation, so was seated at the counter. Started with a refreshing Asahi Premium Draft Beer 'Jukusen'. Opted for the 'Nigiri Dinner Course' which is omakase style only. The meal began with a flavorful clam broth and then moved on to a unique medium fatty tuna nigiri. The sushi at Matsumoto is brushed with soy sauce using a brush before serving, which adds to the presentation. The 'Appetizer Five Points' was beautifully presented with dishes like spicy pufferfish, tangy-sweet vinegar-cured conger eel, and seared horse mackerel with sansho pepper jelly. The meal continued with dishes like a delicious fig and sesame miso, marinated ikura, and savory tuna. Paired the meal with the recommended 'Hideho Junmai Daiginjo Super Dry AWESOME KARAKUCHI EDITION' sake, which was fragrant and had a nice balance of umami and dryness. The nigiri sushi included dishes like squid ink with sudachi, thick and rich snapper, and crunchy amberjack. The meal also featured a delightful steamed egg custard with sea bream and a standout seared fatty tuna nigiri. Finished with an airy conger eel sushi and a savory egg custard. The meal concluded with a comforting red miso soup with clams. A total of 10 dishes including rolls were served, each showcasing the chef's creativity and attention to detail. A peaceful gem in the bustling business district of Gotanda, open even on Sundays for lunch and early dinner. Highly recommended."

I visited for a lunch reservation on a holiday, expecting a pleasant time based on the Michelin restaurant endorsement. However, the operation was completely disorganized, with delays in food service and lack of sincere service. Despite having available seats, it seemed like they were over capacity, which made me disappointed. The lunch course included sushi, sashimi, and eel, but the cheese in the spring roll appetizer had cooled down and become hard. The eel, crab, and salmon roe rice bowl had dried out salmon roe on top, making it unappetizing. The sushi also had a slight fishy smell. The crab gratin chawanmushi and fruit jelly were delicious.

I went for lunch on a regular day. The counter was full, so I was seated in a private room. Recently, it seems that the prices have gone up, with the weekday lunch set costing 2500 yen (including tax). The fish was fresh and the rice was quite delicious. I think the cost performance is okay, but next time I would like to enjoy it at the counter. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the Michelin-starred sushi restaurant Sushi Matsumoto in Gotanda for dinner on a weekday. I was seated at the counter where the friendly head chef greeted me. I ordered the "Nigiri Dinner Course" for 10,900 yen, which included 5 appetizers, 10 pieces of nigiri sushi, chawanmushi, and miso soup. To start, I had a rich clam broth, followed by a variety of appetizers including tofu skin with okra, sea bream with sea urchin, shrimp with seasonal vegetables, pickled conger eel, and mascarpone cheese with sake lees. Each dish was delicious and offered a range of flavors. The nigiri sushi included tuna belly, squid with ink-infused salt, sea bream marinated in kelp, horse mackerel, bluefin tuna, grunt fish, salmon roe, fatty tuna, conger eel, and rolled omelette. Each piece was expertly prepared and flavorful. The meal ended with a comforting bowl of clam miso soup and I left feeling satisfied. The attentive service from the head chef made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a delightful meal.

The sushi is priced at 1900 yen per piece, but considering the quality, it is worth it. The flavors are a bit strong, but for 7 pieces, a roll, and a bowl, it comes out to around 200 yen per piece, so it's not bad. The service is average, but overall, it's a good deal.

I was looking for a place to make a reservation on Sunday and found this place available, so I made a reservation. I actually wanted to go to the Akasaka branch, but it was fully booked, so I gave up. However, when I entered the store, the sign outside looked a bit cheap and the interior was so-so, which was a bit disappointing. The chef was skilled at making sushi, but the service was lacking. I didn't get to talk to the head chef as our seats were different, but he seemed nice.

Five Tanda Station, which is my local Yamanote Line station, has been very helpful for meals. Recently, my impression of it has been getting better and better. I had been curious about a sushi restaurant in Gotanda, so I went there for a meal. I had the chef's choice sushi course. Each dish was carefully prepared and the portion sizes were a bit small, making it perfect for enjoying while chatting. Of course, the taste was also excellent, and the drinks went down smoothly. There are several private rooms available, making it a perfect place for a meal with colleagues.

The sushi restaurant with a crisp counter in the building on Osaki Hirokoji. The quality of the fish was good, but the chef seemed a bit inexperienced, making it a bit nerve-wracking to anticipate what would come next. They have a wide variety of drinks, so I look forward to my next visit. We had a decent amount to drink, and the total bill for two came to around 30,000 yen.

Enjoy a new sushi experience at Sushi Matsumoto in Akasaka, known for its Michelin-starred cuisine, where the contrast between innovation and tradition will captivate your eyes, taste buds, and heart. Combining the essence of other countries with traditional Edo-style sushi, the modern style of Sushi Matsumoto presents a unique dining experience. One of their specialties, the "Uni and Kinmedai Small Bowl," showcases the delicate fusion of high-quality Kinmedai and creamy sea urchin. At the Gotanda location, indulge in the original dish of steamed crab and shark fin with a Chinese twist, offering a gentle and flavorful taste. The sushi rice, made with Niigata Koshihikari rice, complements the ingredients perfectly, creating a harmonious balance. The seared Sakura Buri and tenderly melting thick slices leave a lasting impression. The friendly chef and the experienced gourmet @erika0825erika made the dining experience delightful. The menu consists of an omakase course carefully crafted to showcase the unique world of Sushi Matsumoto. The course includes clam dashi, medium fatty tuna, assorted appetizers, snapper, seared Sakura Buri, charcoal-grilled squid, hairy crab sashimi, Uni and Kinmedai Small Bowl, marinated tuna, ikura battleship sushi, crab and shark fin steamed dish, seared mackerel, seared fatty tuna, conger eel, rolled omelette, and seaweed miso soup. The paired drinks, Burgundy sparkling wine "Simone Feuillatte Cremant de Bourgogne" and Bordeaux white and red wine "Michel Lynch Blanc," along with a variety of fruit wines, were of high quality. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Gotanda Station, this "Sushi Matsumoto" is on the 6th floor of a typical mixed-use building in Gotanda. The elevator area on the first floor may be a bit concerning, but once you go up, you are greeted with a beautifully set counter, raising your expectations to the max. Today, I opted for a private room instead of the counter. The private room provides a comfortable space where you can relax without worrying about your surroundings, making it suitable for entertaining guests. I pre-booked the most expensive course at ¥17,900. I was surprised by the unexpected greeting of tuna nigiri. The meal continued with appetizers, nigiri sushi, and soup, with a focus on nigiri sushi, which was a bit different from the mainstream sushi restaurants nowadays. As someone who enjoys nigiri sushi, I was very pleased with the course. One minor downside was that, due to the private room setting, there were times when explanations of the dishes were lacking in the service. At this price range, I would have appreciated more detailed explanations of what I was eating. The nigiri sushi was served on plates with about 4 pieces each, but I felt that the experience of savoring each piece individually at the counter would have been the best way to truly appreciate the art of sushi-making. Despite this, the taste was undeniably delicious, so if you're looking for sushi in Gotanda, I recommend this place. Thank you for the meal! Ah, so satisfying.

Today is a public holiday in Tokyo, so I took the opportunity to come to Tokyo to eat sushi. I had sushi for both lunch and dinner at Sushi Matsumoto in Gotanda. For lunch, I had the omakase course for 7900 yen, and it was a delightful experience. The chef was a young man, and the atmosphere was cozy with only a few customers at the counter. I also enjoyed some sake, recommended by the chef. The first one was Tenhoichi Junmai Daiginjo, which was smooth and elegant. The second one was Kamikigen, a very refined Junmai Ginjo with a rich flavor. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend Sushi Matsumoto in Gotanda for sushi lovers.

In the lively area of Gotanda, there is a quiet and elegant sushi restaurant with a bright and classy interior, exuding a moderate sense of luxury. We enjoyed a sushi course and various dishes, along with wine pairings. What surprised me was that before serving the first sushi, they confirmed the amount of rice and preferred level of wasabi, allowing us to enjoy our meal with peace of mind.

I visited "Sushi Matsumoto" in Gotanda, a 5-minute walk from Gotanda Station. This is a new restaurant that opened in June last year, with one Michelin star, following the success of "Sushi Matsumoto" in Akasaka. I made a reservation for 6:30 on a weekday and sat at the counter, but there are also several private rooms available. The sushi toppings were prepared meticulously, and the rice had just the right amount of vinegar, making each piece delicious. Today, the chu-toro, horse mackerel, and squid were particularly fragrant and delicious! The sea urchin rice bowl was a new style with strained salmon roe on top, which was enjoyable. Another sea urchin rice bowl had grilled black sea bass, and mixing it with the sea urchin created a rich and flavorful taste! I enjoyed every dish until the end. [Menu for the day] 1. Clam soup 2. Chu-toro 3. Appetizers (5 items): Ankimo, marinated sea bream & shrimp, salmon marinated in miso, scallop with shiitake mushrooms & quail egg, duck loin 4. Flatfish 5. Horse mackerel 6. Squid 7. Sea urchin rice bowl with strained salmon roe 8. Shirako ponzu, sea urchin with firefly squid, abalone sautéed in liver sauce 9. Black sea bass and sea urchin rice bowl 10. Marinated tuna 11. Seared fatty yellowtail 12. Gizzard shad 13. Golden snapper 14. Crab meat chawanmushi 15. Seared fatty tuna 16. Conger eel 17. Soup 18. Tamago (sweet omelette) 19. Kanpyo maki

I visited the Gotanda branch of Sushi Matsumoto, a Michelin-starred restaurant with a branch in Akasaka. The interior of the restaurant has a calm wood-based color scheme with a mix of Western and Japanese elements, creating a relaxing atmosphere. With a counter seating for 8 people and a few private rooms in the back, it is suitable for both small groups and those looking for a more private dining experience. The chefs greet you with a smile as soon as you enter the restaurant, and their friendly and engaging demeanor adds to the overall experience. I decided to try the premium nigiri course, and I was impressed by the fluffy red vinegar rice that had a light and airy texture. Each piece of sushi was beautifully presented, with decorative knife cuts adding a touch of elegance. Starting with the tuna, followed by horse mackerel, squid, alfonsino, golden cuttlefish, gizzard shad, fatty tuna, marinated tuna, and conger eel, the meal was a delightful journey of flavors. In between the sushi, I also enjoyed dishes like snow crab chawanmushi, grilled alfonsino, simmered blackthroat seaperch, and sea urchin. Each dish was expertly prepared to bring out the best in the ingredients, resulting in a truly memorable dining experience. Personal favorites included the eel and squid ink salt, squid grilled in bamboo leaves, and gizzard shad. The gentle flavors of each dish showcased the quality of the ingredients. The restaurant offers a good selection of sake, ranging from premium Daiginjo to local Yamagata sake. While I wished there were more options for whiskey, the overall dining experience was exceptional from start to finish. The chefs were also kind enough to offer advice on choosing a knife, and I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and well taken care of. The restaurant's location may be a bit hidden, adding to its charm, and the fact that it is open until 11 p.m. makes it a convenient choice for late-night dining. Having visited other famous sushi restaurants in Roppongi and Ginza, I can confidently say that Sushi Matsumoto in Gotanda is on par in terms of taste and ambiance. The casual atmosphere and excellent food make it a must-visit spot before it becomes too popular.

I visited Ginza Sushi Matsumoto in Gotanda. It is a branch of the Michelin-starred Akasaka Sushi Matsumoto, and I was excited to visit. The building had a coin parking lot next to it, which was convenient for me as I drove there. The restaurant was located on the 6th floor and had a calm and elegant atmosphere. The course menu included clam soup, medium fatty tuna, 5 appetizers, squid, horse mackerel, flounder, sea urchin and salmon roe over rice, shirako, sea urchin, squid, and abalone platter, blackthroat sea perch and sea urchin over rice, skin, golden eye snapper, fatty tuna belly, marinated tuna, chawanmushi, fried tai fish scales, seared fatty tuna belly, tuna tataki, soup, and dessert. Everything was delicious! The sea urchin and salmon roe over rice with grated salmon roe on top was a unique and tasty dish. The appetizers were also delicious, especially paired with sake. The crispy fried fish scales and sweet potato side dish were also very flavorful. The owner was very kind and provided a relaxing dining experience. Although I didn't realize it at the time, looking back at the photos, the menu was quite luxurious. It was a truly happy and satisfying experience! Thank you for the wonderful meal. ★
