I thought about getting a sea urchin tasting bowl, but I wasn't sure if I could finish it all, so I opted for a half portion with tuna. I wonder why the surface of the tuna is cooked. The tuna bowls at the morning market were the same. It comes with crab soup and seaweed. Also, the kombu tsukudani (kelp simmered in soy sauce and mirin) with ginger is incredibly delicious. I also had some shellfish sashimi for 500 yen. It was crunchy and tasty. The salted sea urchin was delicious too.

I have visited Hakodate many times, but I have always had to give up on eating uni-don each time, which made me sad. However, this time I had the chance to eat what I wanted without worrying about others because I was traveling alone. When it comes to uni-don in Hakodate, I always think of the famous shop over there, but this time I decided to visit a newly opened uni-don shop near Hakodate Station called Yaito-ya. There is also a branch in Goryokaku in Hakodate. The name Yaito-ya rang a bell for me. It is from Yoichi, Hokkaido. I wondered if there was any connection with Yoichi. I know that Yoichi, located between Otaru and Shakotan, is popular for its high-quality seafood. The main store of Yaito-ya is actually in Yoichi. The Hakodate Station branch opens at 9 a.m., and I arrived just after 9 a.m. on a weekday. There were already several groups of customers ahead of me. I ordered the 5 Great Uni Comparison Donburi. The uni varieties on that day were from Rebun, Hakodate, Wakkanai, Russia, and Iwate. The appearance was sparkling and beautiful, a sight that uni lovers would adore. Each one was delicious. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to uni, but for me, the red uni (Bafun uni) was the best. It was rich and sweet, absolutely amazing. The miso soup that came with the donburi had a whole crab in it! There was hardly any meat, but the aroma of the crab broth was irresistible. It seems that the variety of uni changes depending on the availability each day. They are open all day from morning to evening, making it very convenient. #Grateful for delicious encounters

During my stay in Hakodate, I had lunch at "Uni Specialty Store Suiichiya Hakodate Asaichi Store". This shop is a popular "uni bowl" shop in Yoichi, now located in Hakodate Asaichi. It's only a 2-minute walk from JR Hakodate Station. I arrived around 11:30 and ordered the most popular menu item, the "5 kinds of uni comparison bowl"! I chose vinegared rice for my bowl. The uni bowl arrived in about 10 minutes. It included five different types of uni from various regions, along with seaweed and crab soup. I enjoyed the uni as it is, then tried it with soy sauce, wrapped in seaweed, and finally mixed with soy sauce like oyakodon. It's a bit pricey, but the uni here is delicious!

This is a sea urchin specialty store located on the outskirts of the morning market. It used to be at the fish shop in Honcho, so it might be run by Fish Masasan. The store is clean, with a good depth and quite a few seats. I'm not a big fan of sea urchin, so I was unsure about the menu. However, I was told that they had live squid, which is rare these days, so I decided to try the squid comparison bowl with sea urchin for 4200 yen. While I have had grilled squid legs at izakayas before, grilling them myself in front of me was a fun experience and the freshness was outstanding. The squid sashimi was chewy, and the sea urchin had no fishy smell, making me appreciate sea urchin for the first time in a while. The crab miso soup was also delicious with a rich broth. Of course, it is not cheap, but I believe it is better to come here than to eat a mediocre seafood bowl in the 2000 yen range at Donburi Yokocho.

Located on a small town road without the Chuo Line, with no private parking or affiliated parking. When accessing by car, it is best to use the parking lot of the adjacent hotel. This is the second attack on Hakodate by the Uni specialty shop in Yoichi Town. Following last year's visit to Honcho Umamasa store, the same dish, a 5-type Uni bowl (¥6,600) was ordered and served in just 5 minutes. The Uni bowl includes: 1. Seared Murasaki from Matsumae, 2. Bafoon in saltwater from Russia, 3. Murasaki in saltwater from Matsumae, 4. Bafoon in saltwater from Saroma, 5. Murasaki in saltwater from Iwate. Toppings include Kikauchi's button crab? All were delicious, with Saroma being the best. However, there was no excitement like last year... Is it due to personal condition? Uni condition? Rice vinegar issue? Or the amount being less? The Hira-Tsumegani miso soup and the topping of button shrimp were excellent though... Well, it's still preseason. Looking forward to what's to come.
