At lunchtime, I saw a sign for "katsu-don" on my way to the intended restaurant, so I thought I'd try it next time. But when I arrived, the intended restaurant was temporarily closed. So I decided to try the other restaurant instead. It was around 1 pm on a weekday and about half of the seats were taken. I was torn between ordering the "zaru soba + mini katsu-don set" or the "katsu-don and mini soba set," but I ended up ordering the latter. It cost 698 yen (excluding tax) which was quite cheap. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering. The soba was average, the broth was not that great. The hot katsu-don had a rich sauce and was delicious. The egg was just the right amount of runny, which I liked. The pickled cherry blossom was soaked in a sweet vinegar (I prefer the thin sliced type of sweet vinegar that comes in bento boxes). Overall, considering the price, I think it was a really good deal. If I have errands around at lunchtime, I might come back again for the MEGA Don.

I used it for lunch. There are dishes where you can eat both tonkatsu and tempura in one bowl. Today, I ordered a bowl with tempura, tonkatsu, and fried chicken. The fried chicken had a strong seasoning and went well with the rice. The tonkatsu was surprisingly tender and the broth was sweet, just the way I like it. However, the shrimp tempura wasn't delicious... it was the typical cheap and tasteless kind. That was disappointing. Thank you for the meal.

Every time I pass by this place, I have been curious about the takeout soba made with local soba flour from Kuromatsunai. Today's lunch was leftover oden from yesterday, so I decided to go and buy some soba as well. They said they would boil it for me, so I decided to have it boiled. When they boiled it, it turned into a zaru soba form that can be eaten right away. I thought it might come in a plastic bag after being boiled, but it came as it is in the container, with dipping sauce, green onions, and shredded seaweed included as written. I ate it as it was in the container, and of course the soba was stuck together, but that's my fault for leaving it for about an hour, not the fault of the shop. It's takeout after all, so it's to be expected. It felt nostalgic and kind of nice. However, we, who are not used to takeout, were surprised by the amount of plastic containers after finishing eating.

First visit on December 10th. Today, I came to do some shopping at MEGA Don Quijote Hakodate store located in Bibara, Hakodate City. While wandering around the spacious first floor of the store, I stumbled upon Katsuten. (^O^) Since I hadn't eaten yet, I decided to get a takeout katsudon. Today, on the 10th, it was Katsuten Day, so the katsudon was only 390 yen. The katsudon felt heavy and substantial. The well-fried pork cutlet with sauce soaked in was delicious. (^O^) For 390 yen, it's fantastic. (^O^) This Katsuten also has specials on the 20th and 30th of the month. On the 20th, they offer tendon for 390 yen, and on the 30th, they offer zaru soba or kake soba for 390 yen. Even at regular prices, it's quite cheap, but on special days, it's even more affordable, leading to long lines of customers. (^o^;) Thank you for the meal. I'll definitely come back to buy more.

I tried the fried food set from a new restaurant inside Mega Don Quijote that also offers delivery through Walt. It was my first time ordering from there. The set was reasonably priced at around 1500 yen for the amount of food you get. However, I was disappointed because the fried chicken was tough and the tonkatsu was too greasy for my liking.
