Located on the 2nd floor of Kanari Building, 8th block of Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, is Hisashi, where I had a small dinner gathering. Ginza, one of Japan's most famous bustling districts. After passing through the evening crowds, I arrived at the building. As I entered, it felt like a sushi restaurant with a bright and welcoming atmosphere. The interior featured a long white wooden counter, making it suitable for solo diners as well. They offer set courses starting from 10,000 or 12,000 yen, but they are flexible in their offerings. The menu includes sushi, appetizers, sashimi, simmered dishes, grilled dishes, etc., based on the day's ingredients. They have a variety of drinks like draft beer, sake, shochu, wine, etc. I opted for the chef's choice course and requested something that would pair well with alcohol. The dishes I enjoyed included tuna innards, sea bass sashimi, fatty tuna sashimi, vinegar-pickled mackerel, grilled scallop with chili, grilled flatfish skin, sardine sashimi, grilled squid mouth, grilled sardine, sea urchin, and more. The chef, with 30 years of experience, sources fresh ingredients daily from Tsukiji Market. I particularly enjoyed the interaction with the chef while sitting at the counter. The total cost for the evening was around 15,000 yen. It was a peaceful dining experience in a hidden gem of Ginza, where I could relax and enjoy the quality food and drinks.
