There was a ramen shop in front of Asahiyama Zoo, so we decided to eat before visiting the zoo. The locals were excitedly talking about bear sightings, which made us outsiders nervous. The ramen was average. [Access] △ About 2 stops away from Asahiyama Zoo by bus. [Good Points] Simple ramen ingredients.

I came to Tokichi for the first time in a while. I really wanted to eat Katsura-men, so I decided to come here since it's nearby. It was quite crowded, maybe because it's near Asahiyama Zoo. I ordered the Katsura-men (soy sauce) with regular rice for 1300 yen. To be honest, both the katsu and the ramen didn't suit my taste at all... Especially for a katsura-men, I felt like the katsu and the ramen didn't blend well together... The price was also quite high, so it was a bit disappointing. I recommend trying something else. By the way, I was able to use my train money quite a bit.

Tokuiichiban-san! This is a roadside shop with a parking lot. I wonder if it's a place where locals go? I also ordered miso ramen here! Hokkaido miso ramen is delicious, isn't it? The amount of noodles in the ramen here is quite generous, which is nice. The taste is well, just average, haha.

Recommended by locals and finally got to visit. The soy sauce ramen soup is rich and creamy, with plenty of umami that doesn't get tiring. The noodles are slightly thick, providing a satisfying chew. The thinly sliced chashu is large, tender, and delightful. Self-service coffee after the meal was a nice touch. The spacious and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant was also enjoyable.

This is the third installment of the nostalgic ramen tour in Asahikawa, focusing on "Tokuiichiban," a ramen shop established in 1950. The shop is located in a residential area, and upon entering, you are greeted by retro decorations and a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the soy sauce ramen, a classic dish in Asahikawa, which features a rich pork bone and fish broth soup with a hint of soy sauce. The noodles were thin and firm, and the toppings included two slices of pork chashu, menma, and green onions. Overall, the ramen had a delicious and authentic Asahikawa flavor. I finished every last drop of the soup and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Today's lunch was at Tokiichiban. I had soy sauce ramen for 700 yen and a mini curry for 150 yen. The soy sauce ramen is the Asahikawa ramen, made with pork bone and seafood broth. It's a familiar taste that I enjoy the most. The mini curry is slightly sweet. It's nice to have both curry and ramen when you can't decide what to eat.

This shop has a nostalgic atmosphere with old toys and antiques on display. I decided on the soy sauce ramen with simmered egg topping and chashu bowl. It arrived in just 5 minutes, quite fast. The soup had a blend of tonkotsu and mild soy sauce flavors which paired well together. The noodles were medium thickness, low water content, curly noodles that absorbed the soup nicely. If you prefer your noodles slightly firm, it's best to request it when ordering. The chashu had a nice seasoning and was quite tender, thinly sliced. The menma was thinly sliced and salted. It was delicious, but the slight disappointment was the lukewarm soup and soft noodles. The chopped green onions served as topping seemed a bit limp, like they were cut a while ago. The chashu bowl had cubed chashu with green onions and white sesame seeds on top. The rice was very soft, cooked with a water ratio of 3 cups to 2 cups of rice. It was nice to receive complimentary coffee after the meal.

I started working shortly after my student days, and one of my most memorable meals was ordering takeout at a workplace on a business trip. The taste brings back fond memories. This restaurant on Dobutsuen Street is a first for me, but I wonder when was the last time I ate here. It was probably about 20 years ago. I remember it being close to the center of Asahikawa, but at a different location. Although they didn't have a vegetable ramen option, I was craving some veggies. I considered ordering miso ramen, but the staff seemed preoccupied with their own conversation and didn't notice me trying to get their attention. My wife ordered shoyu ramen, and I settled for miso ramen. As we waited, I noticed old radios and a phonograph lined up for sale in the restaurant. They even had a jukebox and a figurine of Victor's dog. It was quite nostalgic. Our ramen arrived in just five minutes, both bowls neatly placed on a single tray. I raised my hand to indicate the miso ramen was mine, while the shoyu ramen was placed in front of my wife. The tray couldn't be separated, making it slightly awkward for me to eat from it alone. The miso ramen had a slightly reddish hue, with thin slices of pork and no vegetables. I had mistakenly assumed that ordering miso ramen would include vegetables, but that was my own misunderstanding. The miso had a hint of spiciness, and the noodles were firm and difficult to separate in the soup. When I tried the shoyu soup, it tasted like the typical Asahikawa style. The pork slices were too thin to really taste. The restaurant had a cheerful and bright atmosphere, with many families dining there. Located near the zoo, it seemed to attract both locals and tourists. I hope they continue to thrive. Thank you for the meal.

I had lunch at this place I happened to pass by. It seems like a long-established restaurant in Asahikawa. From the outside, it exudes a sense of history. Inside, it feels more like a parlor than a ramen shop. Upon looking at the menu, there were various options, but I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen." The soup seemed to be based on local soy sauce, but the exact location remains a secret. The ramen was delicious. The soup was cloudy and had a mild, easy-to-drink flavor with a miso-like soy sauce taste. The noodles were curly and chewy, and the toppings were simple: chashu, green onions, and bamboo shoots. During lunchtime, the place was almost full, and many people seemed to order curry as a set. Thank you for the meal.

◆Asahikawa Special Number Zoo Street Store◆ This is my first visit to Special Number located on Asahiyama Zoo Street. I ordered soy sauce ramen for 700 yen and a mini curry for 150 yen. The noodles were cooked firm, just the way I like it. The chashu was also delicious. The mini curry is truly "mini" as you can tell from the size compared to the spoon, but for 150 yen, it's a good deal.

In Hokkaido, there are various types of ramen such as miso ramen in Sapporo, salt ramen in Hakodate, and curry ramen in Muroran. However, the best ramen I have ever had was soy sauce ramen in Asahikawa based on my experience. When I visited Asahikawa in the past, I often went to restaurants like Oren or Hachiya. These restaurants are considered long-established in Asahikawa. The soy sauce ramen had all the toppings including chashu. It had a light taste with less fat, unlike the popular rich and heavy style. The chashu was thin and had a wide surface area, which I really liked. I prefer it with less fat. If butter corn is added, it becomes similar to Sapporo miso ramen, so I might not order it next time. It was delicious.

Asahikawa City Industrial Park 1-jo 2-chome, I had soy sauce ramen at "Tokuitiban Honten Dobutsuen-dori Store" along the Dobutsuen-dori street. (700 yen) It was a simple Asahikawa-style ramen with only green onions, menma, and 2 slices of chashu. It seems that this Tokuitiban has been in business since 1950. I remember visiting about 25 years ago. I think I visited when I came to Asahiyama Zoo before getting married. When I lived in Asahikawa, I tried to visit three times, but the store was closed every time I went. Inside the store, there are Betty-chan holding a ramen bowl. There were 5 counter seats, 1 table for 10 people, 4 tables for 4 people, and about 4 raised tatami tables. The interior of the store is non-smoking. The menu includes: - Soy Sauce Ramen 700 yen - Salt Ramen 700 yen - Miso Ramen 750 yen - Negi Ramen Soy Sauce/Salt 800 yen, Miso 850 yen - Vegetable Ramen Soy Sauce/Salt 800 yen, Miso 850 yen - Katsu Ramen Soy Sauce/Salt 1,000 yen, Miso 1,050 yen - Curry Ramen 750 yen - Katsu Curry Ramen 1,000 yen - Children's Ramen Soy Sauce/Salt 550 yen, Miso 600 yen, etc. Side menu items include: - Mini Curry 150 yen - Chashu Don 200 yen - Kobuta Don 250 yen, etc. Individual rice dishes include: - Tamago Don 650 yen - Oyakodon 750 yen - Hitsuji Don 750 yen - Butadon 800 yen - Katsudon 900 yen - Chahan 750 yen - Katsu Chahan 1,000 yen - Curry Rice 700 yen - Katsu Curry 950 yen, etc. There is also free coffee available inside the store. It is self-service. I had coffee after the meal. The noodles in the soy sauce ramen I had were from Fujiwara, I think, with Asahikawa-style noodles that are low in water content and less curly. The soup was a delicious blend of pork bone and fish dashi. The saltiness was just right for Asahikawa soy sauce ramen. Yeah, this is delicious. I enjoyed it. Thank you.

On the final day of our business trip to Asahikawa, we had some spare time and decided to visit this restaurant with a Sapporo staff member who loves ramen. Located near the Asahiyama Zoo in the outskirts, "Tokuiichiban" is a renowned old-school Asahikawa ramen shop that used to have its main branch in Asahikawa station. It was once more popular than "Aoba" and "Hachiya," and expanded rapidly with chain stores and branch systems. The legacy of its popularity can still be seen with several branches in the Tama area of Tokyo. The head chef of "Tenho" in Roppongi, Tokyo was also a former employee of "Tokuiichiban." The restaurant used to use medium-thick noodles, which is now replaced with "Fujiwara" medium-fine noodles. The ramen at this shop today features a double soup of seafood and animal broth with lard floating on top, which is a traditional Asahikawa ramen style. The soup is subtle in flavor, making it a perfect match for soy sauce, miso, or salt. Customers at the restaurant seem to enjoy their own unique flavors. Personally, I used to love the salt ramen here. I think this area is one of the top three ramen destinations in Japan, along with Takayama and Kagoshima. When I used to visit Asahikawa, I would always have ramen at "Tokuiichiban" before heading back. For me, "Tokuiichiban" sets the standard for Asahikawa ramen.

It's been a long time since I visited this particular ramen shop. Among all the ramen shops I've been to, this one is my favorite. The soup has a nice roundness to it, not too cloudy or with any off-flavors, and it's refreshing. The curly noodles are just perfect in thickness and texture. I like to wait a bit for the soup to cool down so the flavors can really soak into the noodles. I also ordered a mini curry for 150 yen, which is a great deal. The curry is a bit on the yellow side, with a good balance of spiciness and saltiness. The noodles here have a strong curl and chewiness that I love. It's been a while since I've been here, and I'm glad I came back!

Visited for the first time in August 2018, the 64th time in the Heisei era at "Tokuitiban," a restaurant with a long history in Asahikawa. There are two branches in Asahikawa that I have visited before, but I have not visited the branch in the industrial park. This restaurant is located near the final stage of the road to Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa, so I assumed that the target customers would be families heading to the zoo. Upon entering, I noticed many parking spaces, indicating that they are targeting holidaymakers. The interior is decorated with nostalgic objects and enamel signs. The menu includes English translations, which made me think they are targeting tourists. I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" for 700 yen. It is a traditional Asahikawa-style ramen with a clear brown broth. The soup is made from pork bones and seafood, but it is not overly salty like many Asahikawa ramen, and has just the right amount of saltiness. It is the most delicious among the "Tokuitiban" restaurants I have been to so far. The broth is excellent, typical of Asahikawa ramen. The menma (seasoned bamboo shoots) is not too bad, despite being salted. The chashu (sliced roast pork) is large and made from thigh meat, with two slices served. The noodles are slightly thick, low-water content noodles from the local Fujiwara Seimen. They are delicious as expected. This ramen can be considered among the best in Asahikawa. It is definitely not just targeting tourists. After the meal, they offer self-service coffee. Overall, I felt the service spirit of the owner throughout the restaurant, including the interior decorations. "Tokuitiban," a long-established Asahikawa ramen restaurant. It was a place where I could feel the pride and taste of a longstanding establishment.

I had the special number one soy sauce ramen and rice at a restaurant on Asahikawa Zoo Street. It truly felt like Asahikawa ramen, with delicious noodles and a soup that had a familiar taste. The rice, made with local rice, was also very tasty.

After leaving Asahiyama Zoo, we found this restaurant right near the parking lot. We were drawn in by the sign saying it was a long-established restaurant. The food was good, but it didn't quite meet our high expectations. It was a decent meal overall. Thank you for the meal.

It was quite crowded. It took about 20 minutes for the ramen to arrive. I have eaten bag noodles sold in supermarkets before, but it was my first time at a restaurant. It was very delicious, with a taste similar to Asahikawa ramen.
