Today I went on a solo trip to Sapporo izakayas. After visiting izakayas and a sake bar, I headed to a malt bar, "MaltBarKirkwall." I told the bartender my preferences and they selected a whisky for me. I asked for it straight. It was an 8-year-old Laphroaig, bottled by House of Macallan. It had a quite smoky flavor, with a nice roughness to it. I enjoyed it with some chocolate, taking a moment to relax. I decided to have one more drink. It was a 12-year-old Springbank, cask strength, from Whisky-san. It had a floral aroma and a strong alcohol presence. It was delicious. The back bar had an impressive collection of bottles. I thought I'd like to come back earlier next time and enjoy a leisurely drink. Now, it's time to head back to the hotel. Thank you for the wonderful experience. "MaltBarKirkwall" is located at 3-55-3, Minami 5-jo Nishi 3-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Open on weekdays from 6:00pm to 1:00am, and on the day before holidays from 6:00pm to 2:00am.

A traditional bar specializing in malt whiskey. It only has a counter. The charm is malt chocolate. They also have cigars. When asked how I wanted my drink, I expressed my preference, but what came out was Johnnie Walker Red. I wanted something different, but oh well. I wanted to try something a little more unique. The master is friendly and easy to talk to, and the bar is not pretentious, so it's easy to stop by. It seems like the master enjoys fishing and was recruiting companions. Next time, show me before making it. I want to go with my friend next time. Thank you for the meal! ♡

As usual, I had 3 glasses of half-pours. ・DB Springbank 56.2% A really liked distillery. This local Barley might be the last one this year. Very typical of Springbank. The aroma spreads in the mouth. Smoky and briny. Elegant sweetness. Really delicious. It's a limited edition, but it ranks quite high among current products. ・DB Highland Park 2005 12 years 61% Single Cask for The Whisky Hoop Pre-filled Sherry Butt Official single cask for Japan! Spicy and smoky. The richness of dried fruits and sweetness. A calm sherry and peat behind the sweetness. It's smoother than I thought, but it's 61% so it's quite impactful. ・Glen Massul 2nd 55.1% A blended whisky with 80% malt. Selected by the whisky lovers, Team Glen Massul. Made with original liquor from Nagahama Distillery in Shiga Prefecture. Apparently, it makes a delicious highball, but it's good as it is. It has a unique impression, but it's fruity. Well-balanced.

I had two half glasses of Carn Mor Bequest Imperial 1994 and Laphroaig Valinch & Mallet Hidden Casks Collection 16 Years Old. I usually reserve my judgment with only two drinks, but the bar I visited, the aura of the master, the selection of whiskies, and the reputation were all top-notch. So, I decided that the ratings were sufficient.

Arrived at the restaurant before 9:00 PM. There were 4 customers before and 4 customers after me. I love Springbank 14 Year Bourbon Wood (OB). It has a sweetness that spreads in the mouth. On this day, in addition to the charm rice crackers, a regular customer brought banana manju as a gift. The sweet manju goes well with the sweet Springbank. It is a little-known snack from Ikeda-cho, famous for wine in Hokkaido. I also tried Springbank Local Barley 10 Year (OB) 2017 bottling, a new release aged for 10 years. It is rich and has a wonderful barrel influence, oily. Bowmore 15 Year (Douglas Laing OP) is a joint bottle from Shinanoya and Club Qing (Hong Kong). It has a very colorful label and is a delicious Bowmore. I also had a Single Malt Whisky from Orkney 17 Year (Berry Brothers & Rudd), which actually contains Highland Park. It is peaty and sweet. A foreign guest brought Ukrainian brandy as a gift, and I got to taste it. The foreign guest called it Cognac. Indeed, there is a brandy-like taste in the finish. For the 5th drink, I left it to the master. Glen Cadam 1995 22 Year (Whisky Hoop Edition) is quite high proof at 61.2%. The balance of citrus and spiciness is enchanting. All half-pours, and 5 drinks cost just over 5000 yen. Is it really okay to have such good whisky at such a low price? With delicious whisky and the personality and knowledge of the master, I can work hard again from tomorrow (laughs). No Whisky, No Life! Thank you for the feast.

Hello, I'm a casual drinker. The standard score is 3 points. I always rely on Malt Ya as a malt shop. It's Malt Barker Kirkwall. There are probably about 10 people at the long bar counter. Beginners can feel at ease as they are taught carefully. Half shots are also available. I heard that they can make simple cocktails. This time, I went to drink the Alan that I was interested in as it had just arrived. It's Alan Angel's Reserve 19 years. I hadn't tried the 18-year-old before, so I was very interested. I had the image that Alan is a sherry-based drink with flavors of green apple and honey, but I wondered how this one would be. When I tasted it, it was thick like flower nectar. Very delicious, but it was a bit different from what I had imagined. I also tried various other drinks, but I forgot them. Thank you for the meal. Additional note: I remembered that I had another drink afterwards, and it was so delicious that I lost my memory. Please guess based on the photos. 😅

The restaurant has a deep interior with a calm decor, and there is space behind the customer seats so you don't have to worry about passing by. They offer a wide variety of malts, including official and independent bottlers, making it fun to compare different versions of the same brand or different vintages. The owner's friendly service is also appreciated. Located in the center of Susukino, it is a convenient place to visit as either the first or last stop of the night.
