Welcome. ---------- July 2021 ----------Located in a residential area off Naka Michi, near Odori Park. Next to a shop that fries calzone-shaped pizza bread, offering a variety of potato dishes. If you're unsure, go for the set option: "Colorful Potato Fries" with 7 types, 2 pieces each, creating a gradient shadow effect. The types include Shadow Queen, Northern Ruby, Baron, Touya, Inca Awakening, and Andes Red, among others. Each steamed to bring out their individual characteristics in texture, stickiness, sweetness, and richness. In the summer, dipping soft serve ice cream is also a great choice. I visited the 24th Autumn Hokkaido Fair at JR Nagoya Takashimaya and decided to line up at a stall that caught my eye. I waited for about 20 minutes and ended up getting the Trois Potatoes for 594 yen to go. The staff's freshly fried and hot call made me choose it. It was not dangerously hot, but it was delicious. I am interested in trying other types of potato chips as well. It was convenient to use PayPay for payment.

I went to the Potato FACTORY's harvest festival held during the three-day weekend. The display of 51 different types of potatoes in the store was amazing! Outside, they were selling various potatoes in bags (3-5 pieces) for 100 yen. My main target was the "Potato Soft Serve (Snow March)" which is usually 350 yen, but was only 100 yen at the harvest festival. By the way, the type of potatoes mixed into the soft serve changes depending on the season. Today, it was Snow March. The potato chips stuck in it are probably Toroapochi (May Queen, Northern Ruby, Shadow Queen). The combination of sweet soft serve and salty potato chips goes well together.

I visited the Hokkaido product exhibition held at Yagi Bridge Department Store. I stopped by the first-time participant, Potato Factory, and found that they were selling potatoes from Setana town, where the famous person from Kumagaya, Ginji Ogino, opened a hospital. Feeling the local connection, I bought the whole potato gratin and colorful potatoes. First, the whole potato gratin. A large potato is hollowed out, filled with white sauce, topped with cheese and corn, and baked. I enjoyed the fluffy potato with the white sauce and the salty taste of cheese. And the colorful potatoes contain many different types of potatoes. Despite being sprinkled with salt, some had a sweet taste similar to sweet potatoes or sugar mixed in. I was able to enjoy a variety of potato flavors, from fluffy to moist. It was an opportunity to learn about the history and varieties of potato cultivation.

I purchased freshly fried potato chips from "Potato FACTORY" at Daimaru Kyoto store during the year-end Hokkaido fair. The event was even frying chips inside the store! I was surprised to find out that the expiration date was on the same day. Although I know that once you start eating potato chips, it's hard to stop, I decided to carefully choose two types. The event had a limited menu, but they collaborate with a farmer who cultivates 45 different types of potatoes, so there should be a wide variety available. I tried the Jomon kelp and the original flavors. I enjoyed the Jomon kelp chips on the same day, and they were packed with the deliciousness of homemade potato chips. The taste of the potato was great, and the fried kelp added a nice snack-like flavor. The original flavor, which I tried a bit later, was a bit too oily for my liking. I should have paid more attention to the expiration date, even though it's not a best-by date but a consume-by date. There were also colorful potato chips available, showcasing the wide variety of Hokkaido potatoes.

I went shopping at Matsuzakaya in Nagoya where they were holding a "Autumn Hokkaido Local Products Fair". Here is a summary of my purchases: Jomon Kombu Potato Chips for 540 yen. These are extremely thin potato chips, about 1mm thick, with a strong kombu flavor. The crispy texture is perfect, with a rich umami and salty taste, followed by a hint of sweet potato flavor. Premium Potato Chips "Inca no Mezame" for 540 yen. These chips are also crispy, with a light saltiness and a full mouthfeel of sweet potato flavor. They are completely different from any potato chips I've had before.

I visited the specialty sweet potato shop attached to Poket Pizza in Goryokaku a while ago, but I couldn't register the store, so I haven't posted about it yet. There is a parking lot in front of the store. They sell various types of fried potatoes, including ones that are fried and frozen.

Gelato Potato. It's not gelato, but rather potato salad on a cone. The base is Kitakamui, with toppings of North Sapphire, Shadow Queen, and Inca Awakening. The soft serve cone was incredibly sweet.

This year, I discovered Toraya potato chips for the first time at Nihonbashi Takashimaya. Later, I found them at Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro. And now, I found them at Ueno Matsuzakaya. I have become completely addicted to Toraya potato chips.

From April 25th to May 9th, there was a colorful potato stall next to the beer section that caught my attention, so I decided to have it as a side dish with my beer. I tried the wintered potatoes with butter, which came in various colors. The taste of the potatoes varied, but I found that they lacked the fluffy texture that I was hoping for.
