Last year, my eldest daughter brought me a souvenir from Hokkaido, "Sanpouroku" by "Yanagi Tsuki"! It was my first time trying the "Sanpouroku Plain", and the cute white birch pattern made me hesitate to eat it. When I heard that "Yanagi Tsuki" would be participating in the Hokkaido Product Fair at Mitsukoshi Sendai Store, I was eager to try the other flavors of "Sanpouroku", so I hurriedly went to the event. The atmosphere at the special venue was lively with shopkeepers calling out and customers bustling around. My main targets were "Yanagi Tsuki" and "Royce", so without getting distracted, I headed straight to the "Yanagi Tsuki" corner. The "Sanpouroku" comes in four flavors besides Plain: Maple, Chocolate, and a seasonal limited edition Matcha. I wanted to try the Maple flavor, but since my second daughter doesn't like maple, I chose the "Sanpouroku Chocolate ¥699" this time. Similar to the Plain version, the moist texture and the contrast between the coating chocolate's crunchiness are interesting. I personally preferred the Chocolate over the Plain as it had a slightly more adult taste. During the tasting, the shopkeeper also offered me the "Kinachoco Black Soybeans ¥257", which was delicious! Coated with Hokkaido black soybeans and locally produced Kinako chocolate, the Kinako powder, which I usually don't like, was not gritty at all. Instead, the fragrant taste of black soybeans and Kinako was irresistible. The sweetness was mild, and the black soybeans gave a healthy touch, making it easy to overeat. Next, I fell in love at first sight with the "Garitto Cheese ¥360" that I saw on the event flyer! It's not a cheese cookie or a rice cracker, but a rather mysterious snack. I love the lingering rich cheese flavor in the aftertaste. As mentioned on their website, it might be perfect as a wine accompaniment, although I have zero credibility as I can't drink alcohol at all. All my choices this time were a big hit, and I was very satisfied.
