Mocha MiLk Tea
Fourth stop. Saturday, 5:30 pm. The place I wanted to go for half-priced drinks was full, so I decided to check out Hanbei-san, which I had been curious about for a while. As expected of a place with slim profit margins, it was cheap haha. However, they only had Kinmugi beer, which is a type of happoshu. Kinmugi is easy to drink, so it didn't matter to me since I was just there to enjoy some drinks lol. The staff recommended getting the large size glass as it was more cost-effective. It was huge haha, 290 yen for a medium and 490 yen for a large. I think the large size was around 1 liter. The appetizer was cabbage for 390 yen, so cheap! The food was also inexpensive and had a wide variety to choose from. I couldn't decide, so I asked the staff for a recommendation, and they suggested frog legs. You can order two servings for 290 yen each and get to eat the lower half of the frog. The frog legs were muscular and elastic, and there was only a small part that could be eaten, but you could play around with them, like doing breaststroke or hopping up and down haha. The Hormone Stew for 140 yen had a rich flavor. There was a shop-like area near the entrance with old-fashioned candies. The interior of the restaurant was very cute with a retro vibe, featuring a red telephone, a figure of a robot, posters, and it was fun to look around. And you can get some candies for free on your way out. When I entered, only the reserved seats were taken, so it was quiet, but by 6 pm, it was packed. They also serve complimentary soup. I used a coupon to order ice cream, which felt like something from the early Showa era. As the staff suggested, I should have gone for the large glass if I was going to drink four beers, but I didn't want it to get warm haha. The appetizer was a bit pricey, and frog legs were only available in sets of two, so the total bill for two people was 3700 yen. I guess it's understandable given their slim profit margins haha. I'll go back when I'm a bit more composed next time lol. The food was delicious, and the staff's cheerful "Enjoy your meal!" made the experience even better. Thank you for the meal!
