This weekend there was a food event at Goryokaku and in front of the station. I was thinking of going, but then I decided it might be better to buy yakitori from Takeshi and eat it at home. I made a reservation over the phone. The man on the phone was polite, saying "This is Takeshi," which made me feel relieved, as I'm not good at talking on the phone. I ordered pork skewers, chicken thighs, chicken liver, tsukune, gizzards, and chicken wings. My husband went to pick them up and they were just about to finish grilling. They made sure to have the hot yakitori ready on time. Even when we ate at home, it was still warm and had just the right amount of salt. The restaurant reminded me of a place in Sapporo that I used to frequent during my student days, where the owner looked a lot like Beat Takeshi. I always sat at the counter and watched the owner work. He would generously season the yakitori with salt and pepper. When I mentioned that he put too much, he said, "This is just right," and the yakitori that came out was indeed just right. That restaurant is no longer there, but I'm starting to like this owner at the Takeshi-related restaurant.

Yakitori starting from 100 yen each♪ Nowadays, you can get them grilled over charcoal for just 100 yen. The takoyaki is also delicious and a steal at 300 yen. It's nice to enjoy them in a retro atmosphere. I was impressed by the effort of individually wrapping each yakitori skewer in aluminum foil to prevent them from burning. (๑¯◡¯๑)

I used takeout service. It took about 40 minutes to order. I ate at home. It was my first time having meat in about two months. The chicken liver was tender and seasoned well. I also had chicken thigh, minced pork, and tsukune with sauce. They were all tender with great texture and flavor. I received a menu, so next time I might call ahead to order.

This restaurant has excellent customer service, as mentioned in a certain blog. When I visited the store, there was someone who seemed to be Takeshi, along with other staff members of the same age group. The yakitori is generally cheap, and the chicken thighs were tender and delicious, making it a good value for money.

I was talking with my husband about wanting to eat yakitori. We couldn't find it much at the supermarket. Cooking it ourselves also felt different (although we do make pork skewers). At that moment, my husband found Yakitori Takeshi while taking a walk, which is located in a hard-to-find place. We thought it would be good to call and make a reservation to pick it up, but since we were out during the day, we decided to stop by the store and order in advance. The store has a unique flavor, you could even say it's all about the flavor. The man inside was preparing, and we ordered while looking at the menu on the wall of the store. Chicken wings with salt x2 for 150 yen, pork minced meat, chicken thigh, tsukune (chicken meatball), chicken skin, chicken liver, gizzard, all for 100 yen each. We ordered one of each and added pork minced meat, chicken thigh, and liver, all with sauce. The man was writing on a memo paper on the back of an advertisement with a thin pencil. There was also takoyaki on the menu, and come to think of it, the signboard also had the word "takoyaki." Would you like one takoyaki too? Sure. We decided to pick it up at 5 o'clock. My husband went to pick it up on his bicycle, yay. The skewers were carefully wrapped in aluminum foil. We were satisfied with the yakitori that filled our stomachs. The takoyaki was also deliciously fluffy. I think we'll buy this occasionally.
