Meguro's "Toriyaki Sasaya". Is there a particular reason why the name of the restaurant is "Toriyaki" instead of "Yakitori"? The owner used to work at "Toriyoshi" in Naka-Meguro, a place where reservations are not accepted (you can get in if you line up). Incidentally, he is a disciple of Ikegawa-san from "Torishiki". He exudes an aura of a true craftsman. The main chicken used is Date Jidori. It's an omakase style where the dishes keep coming unless you tell them to stop. The tsukune, finished with sauce right from the start, is the specialty of Sasaya. It seems like their aim is to make you want to eat it the most when you're really hungry, with its rough texture that lets you feel the crunch of cartilage. The sasami, with a generous amount of wasabi on top, packs a punch with each bite. The power of the wasabi that tingles with each mouthful is addicting despite its spiciness. The sasami itself is cooked thoroughly and the flavor comes through nicely. The chouchin style of skewering liver at the tip is inherited from Toriyoshi. Each skewer is so delicious that you'd want to keep eating them forever. The casual atmosphere inside the restaurant, with the classic yakitori shop vibe, is very calming. The reliable yakitori cooked by the seasoned chef was truly satisfying. Below are the dishes we had: - Tsukune - Salad - Sunagimo (gizzard) - Shishito peppers - Negima (chicken and leek skewers) - Sasami (chicken breast) - Bonjiri (chicken tail) - Atsuage (deep-fried tofu) - Tebasaki (chicken wings) - Quail - Ginnan (ginkgo nuts) - Shiitake mushrooms - Seseri (chicken neck) - Chicken skin - Chouchin (chicken lantern) - Heart - Liver - Hatsu (chicken heart) - Hatsu motsu (chicken heart and intestines) We had some sake and the total cost was around 10,000 yen per person. It was a lively atmosphere with lots of laughter and chatter. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Budget: 13,000 yen Omakase Course Nukazuke Salad ◆Tsukune 〇 Goes well with lemon, has a rough texture. ◆Sunagimo Small ◆Negima ◆Shishito ◆Sasami Sabiyaki 〇 ◆Atsuage ◆Tebasaki Easy to eat ◆Bonjiri Puffy with not much fat. ◆Toumorokoshi ◆Hishinamban × Got a bad draw. Too spicy, numbed my tongue. Unnecessary. ◆Uzura ◆Kawa × Soft texture ◆Seseri 〇 Chewy ◆Ginnan ◆Hatsu Small ◆Liver Yakiniku cooked well. ◆Chouchin The meat at the bottom was meaty and may be a different part from what is usually served with chouchin at other restaurants. ◆Shiitake Forgot to mention I don't like shiitake. ◆Tebasaki 〇 Loved the sauce flavor. ◆Segimo ◆Sori Large, favorite part. ◆Jagabata Not much flavor. ◆Abura Beef Hormone like Maruchou. ◆Hatsumoto ◆Garlic sprout ◆Pecoross (not part of the course) ◆Soboro Don, soup was strong in flavor, enough for one person. ◆Cheese (Gouda) Portion was normal, sometimes a little larger. Initially thought it was expensive! Completed the course, stopped by the restaurant. Non-alcoholic for 13,000 yen. Omakase course with a stop system, but the more you eat, the more it adds up, so if you finish everything, it naturally becomes more expensive. But at this price, I would have preferred a place where I could choose only the skewers I like to eat. I didn't need this many vegetable skewers, and there were some chicken skewers I didn't need. The taste was okay. Would have been happier if it was under 10,000 yen.

I'm not a big fan of tsukune, liver, or chicken tenderloin, but all the other parts I tried at this yakitori restaurant were the most delicious I've ever had! I'm not sure about the grilling technique, but it was amazing. I brought in a birthday cake and they allowed it without any extra charge. Thank you so much!

Today, I visited a yakitori restaurant that has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. The head chef used to work at the famous Nakameguro restaurant "Torayoshi" and is a senior disciple of Ikagawa from "Torishiki". We had a reservation for 8:30 pm, and it was an omakase course. Despite being a weekday, the restaurant was bustling with customers and full of energy. The head chef, who seemed intimidating at first, greeted us with a lovely smile. We started with beer and then moved on to cold sake. Here is what we had:
- Assorted pickles including cucumber, nagaimo, turnip, and more.
- Daikon radish with grated radish as a chopstick rest.
- Salad
- Sabiyaki (rarely cooked) chicken breast
- Tsukune (chicken meatball) with a crunchy cartilage texture
- Momo (thigh meat) and sunagimo (gizzard) served together, both delicious
- Shishito peppers with a perfect level of cooking
- Grilled corn served hot
- Bonjiri (tail meat) and thick tofu served almost simultaneously
- Hishinomansaku (a type of pepper)
- Tebasaki (chicken wings) juicy and thick
- Quail with a well-cooked texture
- Ginkgo nuts
- Hatsu (heart) and liver
- Shiitake mushrooms
- Skin (chicken skin) served almost simultaneously
The timing of the skewer servings was quite fast, making it difficult to eat slowly. If you prefer to enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace, it might be challenging. The yakitori is best enjoyed immediately after being served, as by the time you finish the third skewer, it has cooled down. Despite this, the cooking was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious yakitori. Thank you for the meal.

First visit. Reservation available for counter seats from 20:30, and being from a famous restaurant, expectations were high. Upon arrival, the place was packed as expected. However, we were seated at a table as they don't take reservations for the counter. Usually, we make reservations over the phone, but this time we used an automatic reservation system. We had to go for the set course only. They keep grilling until you say stop... We eat quickly, so it was good in the beginning when dishes kept coming one after another. But as the counter seats emptied out and we were moved around, by the middle of the meal, we couldn't keep up with the food as others around us were done eating. When I asked if we could take a short break instead of stopping, they said it was already last order. It was my first time, so I'm not sure if that was the right approach, but the grilled skin and chicken wings were weak, maybe because it was the end and the charcoal fire was dying down... Personally, it wasn't to my liking. Towards the end, it was just vegetable grilling one after another... No one asked if we wanted more, and that was it. Since I mentioned what I didn't like at the beginning, my partner's favorite items never came out... It was tasty, but I don't feel like going back. The charm of eating at the counter was missing, so table seating might be better.

For the sake of privacy, there are no photos. We were a group of three, so we sat at a table instead of the counter. The table had a semi-private feel with two adjacent four-person tables. There were thin blinds between the tables. They serve three skewers at a time. The skewers here are really delicious. I particularly like the tsukune skewers. This might be my favorite dish from Toriyoshi's restaurants.

When searching for "yakitori in Meguro," there are quite a few options available. I chose to make a reservation at "Yakitori Sasaya." We arrived a little early at 5:30 PM and waited on the bench outside until the lights came on and the curtain was raised, indicating that the restaurant was open. We were seated at the counter at the back of the restaurant. The rule here is a "stop system," where you call "stop" when you've had enough, and three items are served. We started with drinks, ordering a draft beer and a pickled vegetable assortment, followed by grated daikon with tsukune. The meal then began with tsukune, which was delicious with chunks of cartilage and chicken meat. The sand liver was crunchy and tasty. The restaurant was dimly lit, making the green shishito peppers stand out. We also enjoyed the Fukushima sake "Sasa Masamune," which paired well with the yakitori. The dishes kept coming, including negima, rare sasami, corn, bonjiri, chicken skin, thick tofu, quail, and more. We ended the meal with a yuzu sake on the rocks and ordered the "kiji-don" as a final dish. It turned out to be regular chicken meat, not pheasant as we had initially thought. The owner's fan, which had turned yellow from the heat and oil, caught our attention. Overall, it was a satisfying and delicious meal.

The skewers are delivered at an amazing speed. You have to keep saying stop until you're full, because if you wait until you think it's time to stop, you won't make it. The food is delicious, so it's easy to keep eating, which can be dangerous. By the time we left, our stomachs were full. I was worried that eating such delicious yakitori would be expensive, but I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable it was. Truly a top-notch restaurant. If I had to nitpick, I would say I wish I could eat in a more relaxed manner. - The skewers that come out first are like the three sacred treasures, which is great. - All the skewers are delicious, but the sabi-yaki and chochin were especially tasty. - The corn and thick tofu were also delicious, providing a nice variety. - The selection of sake may not have been to my liking, but I appreciated the range available.

Just made it before closing time! As I entered the restaurant, I remembered a previous meal I had there. While reminiscing about that time, I enjoyed the skewers. Usually, grated daikon radish is served as a palate cleanser, but at Sasaya, they also serve pickled root vegetables and yam in soy sauce. After that delightful dish, they kept bringing out delicious chicken and seasonal vegetables with rich flavors. Everything was top-notch. Feel free to add seven spice powder, sansho pepper, or lemon from the table.

This is my second visit. While exploring various yakitori restaurants in Ebisu and Roppongi, I decided to venture into Meguro and was completely enchanted on my first visit. Sitting at the counter is recommended. Once seated and served with appetizers, the master yakitori chef and the person managing orders are in front of you, and the grilled dishes keep coming non-stop. You can inform them when you're full after three skewers, and they will adjust accordingly even if you leave midway. The service and hygiene are perfect! The cost performance is also excellent. There is a wide variety of drinks, and they promptly notice when you need a refill. Besides grilled dishes, there are plenty of side menu options, including tempting rice bowls! We ordered egg over rice and chicken mince bowl for two towards the end, and they checked with us before serving. There is a smoking area outside, which is convenient for smokers. The customers are elegant, and there are probably many regulars. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the feast!

I recently discovered Toriyaki Sasaya in Meguro, which was featured in Tokyo Calendar. They have a unique style where they keep serving grilled chicken until you say stop, allowing you to enjoy a variety of cuts. The atmosphere with lanterns was nice, and the food was delicious. #ToriyakiSasaya #Meguro #MeguroGourmet #MeguroDinner #MeguroGrilledChicken #WantToConnectWithGrilledChickenLovers

Had a delicious dinner at the famous yakitori restaurant Sasaya in Meguro. I realized that the taste of yakitori really depends on how it's grilled. We had an omakase course where the skewers kept coming until we said stop, totaling 19 skewers including vegetable skewers. In addition to yakitori, we also enjoyed a salad, chicken skin with ponzu sauce, and finished off with oyakodon and chicken soup. It was so delicious that we ended up eating too much. The CEO, who is a Foodie, mentioned that the head chef at Sasaya, Mr. Sasatani, trained at Toriyoshi and is a disciple of the famous Torishiki's Ikagawa. It was a satisfying experience to have such tasty yakitori after a long time. It was very convenient to be able to make a last-minute reservation on the same day. The style is to serve a variety of delicious yakitori dishes and then stop. Some dishes were a bit oily, but overall, you can enjoy tasty yakitori here. It's convenient that there is no simultaneous start time, making it easy to use.

I had been curious for a while, and finally managed to get a reservation on the day of. Let's go! First, we had some daikon radish with grated radish and chopstick rest. Then the skewers started coming. In a sea of small portioned shops, this place serves big portions! It's satisfying!
- Gizzard
- Tsukune (rough minced chicken cartilage inside. I like the uneven shape)
- Salad
- Shishito peppers
- Negima (green onion and chicken)
- Wasabi flavored grilled meat
- Bonjiri (could have been grilled a bit more)
- Thick fried tofu
- Liver
- Shiratama (rice cakes)
- Seseri (chicken neck)
- Chicken wings
- Snap peas
- Ginnan (gingko nuts)
- Shiitake mushrooms
- Momo (thigh meat)
- Soboro bowl (finely minced meat. A bit strong in flavor, but balanced out with plenty of seaweed in between. Delicious.)
* For drinks, it's best to stop after 2-3 rounds per person. Even if you say to stop, they'll still grill 3 more skewers, so it's best to stop early. After stopping, they served 3 more vegetable skewers before finally bringing one meat skewer, which was a relief. It would have been nice if they had changed our plates midway... My favorite was the tsukune. As a tsukune lover, this place's tsukune ranked high in taste. It's a shop in the Toriyoshi series, with a slightly homely feel. Good cost performance. I hope it doesn't become a difficult-to-reserve place. I'd like to casually drop by... Thank you for the meal!

It's a 7-8 minute walk from Meguro Station. The restaurant is located in a calm and quiet area. I made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a holiday and the place was packed with customers. The small restaurant had a lively atmosphere, more like an izakaya than a quiet dining experience. We sat at the counter and enjoyed the omakase course, with various yakitori dishes served one after another. The food was delicious, but we suddenly felt full. They serve a good variety of meat and vegetables, so you can enjoy different types of yakitori. We ended the meal with egg rice, which was a nice finish. Overall, we had a delicious and enjoyable dining experience. Thank you for the meal!

It was incredibly delicious! This stylish yakitori restaurant is like a hidden gem. They grill each skewer right in front of you, and it's all up to the chef's choice until you say stop. They keep bringing out recommendations of the day so you can eat until you're full.

It is located in a relatively inconspicuous alley in Meguro. I had seen it often on my friend's SNS, so I was curious about it. Three friends sat at a table! The counter was full, but it was relatively easy to make a reservation even on the same day. The yakitori tasted delicious. However, if asked if it was exceptionally delicious, I would say it's good. It's not bad, but I wouldn't say I want to come back. When yakitori costs over 5,000 yen per person, you start to wonder about the skill level. It's a difficult industry, isn't it? If you're not a master craftsman, you can't achieve that perfect balance of salt and grilling. Ah, I want to go to that yakitori place in Yoyogi.

It had a lively and fun atmosphere, with many salarymen drinking after work. All the skewers were delicious, but the chef seemed busy cooking alone, which was a bit strange. Also, even though it was a stop system, a few skewers came out after we had stopped eating, which was confusing. I couldn't try the one I wanted (chouchin) but I left feeling full and satisfied. It was delicious!

I made a reservation for a counter seat a week ago and visited for the first time! It's about a 10-minute walk from Meguro Station, called Toriyaki Sasaya. It has been selected as one of the top 100 yakitori restaurants. They offer an omakase (chef's choice) course! The wasabi is quite strong. Some dishes had too much fat, and some were difficult to chew, which was a bit disappointing. I wanted to have a rice dish at the end, but after requesting the stop, four more skewers were served, so I couldn't eat anymore because I was already full. Thank you for the meal.

Thank you for visiting. I thought it was relatively easy to make a reservation, but it turned out to be a popular restaurant that is always full. It may have just been good timing. They mainly serve skewers on omakase style. I was surprised by how tender the chicken gizzard was when it came out first! The potato butter skewer that came out at the end was surprisingly delicious. It was a bit disappointing when the staff didn't listen to the order properly or served something I mentioned I didn't like. It would be nice if they offered free refills of grated radish...
