On a regular day at 7:00 pm, I finally got to eat the anglerfish hot pot I had been wanting for a long time. It's especially hard to make a reservation during this season, so I made a reservation months in advance for my first visit. I had bottled beer, probably around 4 cups of sake, and two servings of anglerfish hot pot with a mountain of angler liver. The owner said, "You can eat the liver just like that," and when I tried it, it was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating! As I sipped on sake and nibbled on the liver, he eventually said, "You should melt it in the hot pot." The liver was so tender and melted in your mouth, a real treat! The anglerfish meat was large, firm, and incredibly elastic. The soup was so delicious that I drank it all the way to the end with the rice porridge. The vegetables that had been simmered until they were tender were also delicious. The soup was lighter than the one at Hotei in Tsukishima and richer than the one at Hotei in Iriya, I think. We also had scallop sashimi, which had a firm texture and was fresh. I love scallops. The crab salad was unexpectedly normal, with thickly sliced cabbage dressed in mayonnaise with a little bit of crab on top. It reminded me of something that would be served at a relative's house. After enjoying the anglerfish hot pot and drinking plenty of sake, we asked for the bill. The owner said, "It's ten thousand yen." I asked, "How much is it?" and he repeated, "Ten thousand yen." As we walked home, we kept asking each other, "Did he make a mistake?" "But he did say ten thousand yen, right?" "Did you do the math?" "I don't know..." "Wow, the value for money is really good, right?" It was a truly satisfying night of anglerfish hot pot. I would love to go back during anglerfish hot pot season. Thank you for the meal!
