Located in a shopping street about a 2-minute walk from Fujimidai Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, Bai Ming Dian is a Chinese restaurant that offers authentic Chinese flavors rather than the typical Japanese-style Chinese cuisine. Their dishes, based on Cantonese and Shandong styles, are all delicious. [Ordered Items] - Assorted appetizers (small) - 2390 yen - Stir-fried pork with black pepper soy sauce, paprika, and bell peppers - 1880 yen - Stir-fried king crab with egg white and Shanghai crab miso sauce - 1580 yen - Salt-cooked pounded shrimp and tofu - 1300 yen - Crispy fried chicken with vinegar soy sauce - 1350 yen - Seafood trio with Fujian-style fried rice in sauce - 1430 yen - Beer - 730 yen - Highball - 680 yen - Shaoxing wine - 580 yen [Impressions] Every dish we ordered was delicious. The assorted appetizers are a must-order, offering a variety of flavors that pair perfectly with drinks. The stir-fried pork with black pepper soy sauce was flavorful and satisfying. The king crab dish with egg white had a fluffy texture and rich flavor from the crab miso sauce. The salt-cooked shrimp and tofu dish was light and tasty. The crispy fried chicken was a popular menu item with a bold flavor. The seafood trio with fried rice in sauce was a surprising dish that combined the flavors of the seafood and rice beautifully. Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit for its consistently delicious food that reminds me of beloved local spots in Hong Kong.

I decided to go to the Seibu Ikebukuro Line side and searched for a delicious lunch and Chinese food, and this restaurant came up. When I asked my wife, she said she had been here 10 years ago, but I had no recollection of it. The interior of the restaurant is calm with a grey color scheme. The green of the foliage plants is beautiful. The daily specials looked tempting, but I found the An Sauce Fried Rice and ordered it without hesitation. The large shrimp and squid provided a perfect texture and flavor. When I dug my spoon into the sauce, I could see fluffy egg and rice underneath. The seafood's saltiness and the softness of the fried rice were seasoned with a gentle touch, and I was very satisfied. The price of 1,500 yen for lunch is reasonable, and I would gladly pay for this meal. I will definitely visit again at night next time!

I had some business in Tomigaoka from the morning, so I decided to have lunch at this place. It's one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in Tokyo for 2021. The exterior and interior of the restaurant had walls that looked like plaster, and the tables had an aged look, giving it a slightly grungy atmosphere. I was surprised by the style of ordering through a QR code on my smartphone. The menu displayed by the QR code or on hand had enticing options like a lunch set for 2,500 yen or a daily special for 1,390 yen, but I ended up ordering the Mapo Tofu set through the smartphone menu. When the dish arrived, I was taken aback. It was a scorching hot day, and the Mapo Tofu was loaded with whole chili peppers... As expected, it was spicy and hot, packing quite a punch. If I had a towel at hand, I might have been able to finish all the chili peppers, but I ended up leaving about 4 of them. I did manage to eat over 10 though, sweating profusely. Despite the spiciness, it was delicious. Did anyone else find the Mapo Tofu a bit too salty, or was it just me? Perhaps it was due to the salt content for heatstroke prevention? The soup with a unique aroma was amazing, really making the meal memorable. A lunch that left my handkerchief soaking wet, this Mapo Tofu was a bit intense for this summer.

I visited the restaurant two weeks in a row because the mapo tofu I had last time was delicious. This time, I tried the tantanmen noodles! The balance of spiciness, umami, noodles, and ingredients was wonderful. The flavor was to my liking with the addition of Sichuan pepper. The broth was so delicious that I wanted to drink it all!

I had been curious about this place for a while, so I decided to have lunch there. I ordered the mapo tofu (you can order through the app or verbally) and it was amazing, with a strong flavor of sansho pepper. Personally, it was the most delicious mapo tofu I have ever had! My husband ordered the garlic sprout and green pepper miso stir-fry, and the miso was also delicious.

Order for lunch: Appetizer: Squid, eggplant, and lettuce. They all have a Japanese touch and are delicious. Soup: Clam and daikon clear soup. Dim sum: Shumai. Main dish: Sweet and savory stir-fried golden threadfin bream and glass noodles. Not too spicy, so it's probably from the Tohoku or Guangdong region, not Sichuan. Very delicious. Dessert: Black honey ice cream.

The numbing spiciness of the hot mapo tofu is incredibly delicious. It's completely different from homemade mapo tofu. I visited this restaurant near Fujimidai Station, which is relatively quiet, because it's a popular place. The taste exceeded my expectations. The mapo tofu set meal came with soup, white rice, and a side of pickles. Despite being a weekday lunch, the restaurant was very crowded. It wasn't enough to line up, but it always felt full. The female staff seemed quite busy handling the hall duties alone. It may have taken more than 15 minutes from ordering to serving, but the deliciousness made it worth the wait! Next time, I plan to try the tantanmen! I highly recommend everyone to visit this place at least once!

The nearest station is Fujimidai Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. The owner of this restaurant trained at famous restaurants in Yokohama Chinatown, such as Chinryu. They offer a variety of authentic and delicious Chinese dishes. The restaurant has a slightly modern finish with spacious seating. The staff were polite and attentive. You can easily access the menu using a QR code for contactless ordering. The daily stir-fried pork and eggplant dish had just the right amount of spiciness and was delicious. There were also several side dishes available, which was a pleasant surprise. I finally got to visit this place.

Happy New Year 2023.1.1. Thank you for your continued support this year. To start off the year, I would like to introduce the Chinese New Year dishes from "Genpou Rin". The head chef of this restaurant is Yoshiwa Deguchi, born in 1967. He honed his skills at Yokohama's "Hochinro" and Minami Aoyama's "Koman Moto". After further training in Hong Kong and Beijing, he established his own restaurant in Fujimi-dai in 2000. In 2022, I enjoyed an authentic New Year's feast at "Asami" in Ginza, so this year I decided to try something different with a Chinese New Year feast. Reservations are required in advance, and on the day of pick-up, only the payment is required. The set consists of two tiers, with the first tier including the following dishes: Smoked Orange Duck, Sichuan Spicy Pig Tongue, Crispy Dried Fish with Yuzu Flavor, Salted Water Abalone with Bamboo Shoots, and Marinated Fish Roe and Milt in Shaoxing Wine. The second tier includes: Spicy Soy Sauce Lotus Root, Braised Shiitake Mushrooms, Cumin Shumai, Stir-Fried Shrimp Balls with Shrimp Roe, Stir-Fried Large Prawns with Chili Sauce, Sweet and Sour Cucumber, and Pickled Sweet and Sour Red Turnips. While the traditional Japanese New Year dishes are the main focus of the menu, the Chinese essence is incorporated throughout, such as using shrimp chili instead of simmered shrimp and marinating salmon roe in Shaoxing wine. The feast offers a flavorful and refreshing way to start the new year. The combination of Chinese and Japanese elements creates an interesting and delicious feast. The meal is not too oily, leaving a light and satisfying finish. I highly recommend experiencing Chef Deguchi's full culinary skills by dining in at the restaurant when you're tired of traditional Japanese New Year dishes.

I came all the way to Fujimi-dai, so I decided to have lunch here today. The door of the restaurant is made of old-looking iron, giving it a rustic atmosphere. It's called "Genryu." The interior of the restaurant was smaller than I expected. I used "AutoReserve" to order, which was quite cumbersome. I had to enter an authentication code every time I placed an order, and the lack of Wi-Fi in the restaurant also added to the hassle. In the end, I placed my order verbally, but if they want to use this system, Wi-Fi is a must, right? I ordered the "Lunch Set" for 2,500 yen and the "Genryu-style Almond Jelly" for 560 yen, totaling 3,060 yen (tax included). It seems you can also order a la carte during lunchtime, but the "Grilled Shrimp and Chive Bun" was sold out (sad face). The lunch prices here felt a bit high... The "Lunch Set" would be great if it included both meat and fish, but you have to choose one. In terms of cost performance, it's a bit... meh. And I wish the dessert, even if smaller, was the "Genryu-style Almond Jelly." It was ice cream, so I added it separately. The "Jasmine Tea Sorbet" was also sold out (sad face). The "Genryu-style Almond Jelly" was indeed delicious. It had a perfect balance of firmness and softness, with a distinct smoothness. It was so delicious that I wanted a larger portion. Maybe it would have been better to enjoy it a la carte? That's the impression I got.

I visited this restaurant without hesitation as it was listed in the top 100. We arrived just before lunchtime and the place was already full, with a few people waiting. I was torn between the tantanmen and the mapo tofu set, but ended up choosing the mapo tofu. I thought I could make mapo tofu myself, so maybe I should have gone with the tantanmen. When the dish arrived, the presentation was truly professional! Now, how did it taste? "Incredibly delicious! This is not the kind of flavor you can find at just any Chinese restaurant in town!" It was oily yet not too heavy, with a spicy kick and a rich umami taste. If you're in the vicinity of Fujimidai Station, this place is a must-visit. I don't come here often, but I feel it's worth coming all the way here to eat. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely come back!

■Sichuan Mapo Tofu Set Meal 1,390 yen (Sichuan-style spicy stew with minced beef and tofu) Comes with side dishes, soup, steamed rice, and pickles. I ordered the Mapo Tofu with extra spiciness, and it was delicious with a generous amount of bird's eye chili, giving it an authentic kick. After finishing the meal, I counted the bird's eye chilies and found out there were 15 pieces in total. ■Genpei-style Almond Jelly 560 yen I usually don't find almond jelly particularly tasty and it's not my favorite dessert. However, I decided to try the almond jelly at Genpei and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was.

The spice boom is not just about curry! Located a short walk from Nerima Station, just 3 minutes from Fujimidai Station, there is a Chinese restaurant called "Genpoulin" in the shopping street. Lunch is a must-try with long lines. The recommended mapo tofu uses spices in an exquisite way! The harmony of spices in the midst of spiciness is not boring. The tantanmen was also delicious! Lunch is reasonably priced and recommended, but the restaurant also looks delicious for dinner, so I would like to try it someday!

I saw the owner of the ramen restaurant "Goon" that I used to eat at before referring to their mentor on Instagram (2021.12.24), which made me want to visit. I tried their Tan Tan Men (920 yen) and parked my car at a coin parking lot (100 yen for 20 minutes). I arrived on a Friday at around 5:29 PM, and the restaurant was already open. There were 6 customers dining and 2 customers waiting when I left. I had checked the information beforehand, which stated that they were open for dinner from 5:00 PM, so I visited the day before around 4:59 PM. I could see the staff through the window, but the restaurant didn't open until 5:05 PM. When it started raining, I asked the staff and was informed that they open at 5:30 PM. I gave up on my first visit and came back for a second try the next day. The photo near the entrance was taken the day before. Inside, I was seated and looked at the menu to place my order verbally. I was interested in the Ebi and Nira Yaki Manju, but they were sold out, so I only ordered the Tan Tan Men. It was served around 5:36 PM. I thought I had ordered the Tan Tan Men without broth, but it was served with broth. I didn't say anything and just ate it. The Tan Tan Men had a Chinese restaurant-like flavor, not too spicy and easy to eat, with a nice sesame flavor that made it delicious.

On weekends, I participated in the PayPay festival in Nakano Ward, where you can get a 30% cashback until October 31st. The restaurant opened at 11:45, but I arrived at 11:15 and there was already one group of customers waiting. The line quickly grew longer, and by the time the restaurant opened, it was full. It's a family-friendly area, so seats fill up quickly. After ordering, you are served cold tea first. In less than 10 minutes, the Sichuan mapo tofu set meal (tax included 1,320 yen) arrived. It was a generous portion, flavorful with depth as expected from a Sichuan dish. Despite having about 10 pieces of chili peppers in the dish, it wasn't too spicy. The meal comes with a large portion of rice by default, which is great. I decided to put the rice into the mapo tofu dish, and it was delicious. The set meal also comes with a side dish, today it was a chicken and cucumber cold dish, which was not as spicy as it looked and tasted great for a flavor change. The soup was a light cabbage soup with pickled mustard greens. I also ordered the xiaolongbao (tax included 700 yen), but the skin was a bit thick and the soup didn't overflow as much as I expected. Maybe I should have ordered the leek dumplings instead. The restaurant had a stylish concrete interior with partitions at each table. I spent about 30 minutes from entering to finishing the meal. Payment can be made with PayPay. This is a delicious mapo tofu meal.

Today I went to a hidden gem in Nerima Ward, which looked like it was in Nakano Ward due to a PayPay campaign offering a 30% discount. However, upon arrival, I saw a sign saying "Cash payment only today." Despite this setback, I decided to give it a try since I had come all the way. The entrance had a very impressive door. I arrived 10 minutes after opening, and the place was already full. The staff politely asked me to wait for about 15 minutes. However, some customers left, and after waiting for 40 minutes, I finally got a table. I ordered the Shark Fin Soy Sauce Thick Noodle for 1500 yen and a draft beer for 730 yen. The ramen had a clear soup base with shark fin topping. The shark fin had a firm texture and the thick soy sauce made the dish not cool down quickly. The flat noodles, which were reportedly homemade, were excellent at absorbing the sauce. It was a delicious and luxurious lunch experience. I later found out that their dry tantanmen is a specialty, so I'm curious to try it next time. It would also be nice to come back for a leisurely Chinese drinking session in the evening.

On Saturday at 1:30 PM, we waited for about 15 minutes with 5 people ahead of us, and finally got seated as a party of 2. I had decided on the spicy tantanmen from the start, so I ordered that for 880 yen. My companion ordered the seafood sauce over fried rice for 1,400 yen. The tantanmen had a perfect level of spiciness in the minced meat on top, packed with flavor. The noodles were delicious and the soup had a refined spiciness. It was definitely tasty and had good value for the price. The seafood sauce over fried rice looked as beautiful as in the picture, with plenty of shrimp and scallops. The fried rice had lots of scrambled eggs mixed in, making it very filling. I was glad we didn't order the garlic chive dumplings, as we were already full.

Visited the popular Chinese restaurant "Genkappan Hayashi" located a 2-minute walk from Seibu Ikebukuro Line Fujimidai Station. Arrived 10 minutes before opening on a weekday and found no waiting line. However, there were about 10 people waiting by the time the restaurant opened. Managed to enter as soon as they opened. The restaurant was full. Ordered the daily special crispy fried chicken thigh with sweet and spicy sauce for 1,320 yen. It came with side dishes, white rice, soup, and pickles. The dish was served promptly. The crispy fried chicken was similar to chicken tempura rather than fried chicken, with a crispy coating and juicy meat. It was delicious. The sweet and spicy sauce had a strong sesame oil and green onion flavor, complementing the crispy fried chicken well and making the rice very appetizing. The portion was generous, and I left feeling full and satisfied after enjoying the meal until the end.

This is a visit for a popular restaurant tour. I made a reservation by phone in advance as it is a popular place. When I entered the restaurant, it seemed to have 22 seats. The atmosphere was lively with what seemed like regular customers. I ordered "appetizers," "Sichuan mapo tofu," "tantanmen," "xiaolongbao," and a few alcoholic drinks. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and as for the taste, the mapo tofu was the first to arrive. Despite the large amount of bird's eye chili in it, if you don't bite into the chili, it's not too spicy and actually quite delicious. Next, the tantanmen. The sesame soup was very tasty. It had just the right amount of spice, not too overwhelming. Overall, everything had a consistent quality and good taste. It's nice that you can order a la carte instead of a set course. The popular chive dumplings were sold out, so I'll definitely come back to try them. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered the Mapo Tofu set meal for 1320 yen. There were also daily specials (that day was fried shrimp) and noodle dishes available, but I wasn't in the mood for fried food or noodles, so I went with the regular menu. My companion ordered the daily special set meal with a beer. The Mapo Tofu looked spicy from the appearance. The first bite was indeed spicy, but not as much as it looked, it had a good level of spiciness that you could taste properly. The depth of the spices made it addictive, it wasn't just about being spicy. However, what bothered me more was the saltiness and greasiness. It was more salty than expected, even when eaten with rice. Also, there was a strong oily taste, maybe from chili oil or some unique Chinese seasoning. The portion was generous, so I got full quickly and ended up having to share with my companion towards the end. Even though I wasn't in the mood for fried food, I tried a piece of the shrimp from the daily special, and it was really delicious. It's a bit frustrating when what others order turns out to be tastier, based on their preferences. This was the case this time. It was Sunday lunchtime, and we didn't have to wait to be seated. However, the restaurant was consistently 70-80% full, with a steady stream of customers coming in, so the number of people and timing seem to be important.
