Once I decided to come to Arashiyama, I looked at various information sites and decided to visit this restaurant. The location is just across the street from the main gate of Tenryuji Temple, so it was easy to find. The first floor is a takeout counter selling soy milk donuts and yuba soft serve ice cream. The yuba soft serve is said to not fall even when turned upside down, but it might be difficult to eat in mid-November. If you come during the hot season, it's worth trying. The second floor is the main dining area. Although there are a fair number of seats, due to various factors such as Kyoto-style tofu dishes, the view of the autumn leaves at Tenryuji Temple, the lunchtime on weekends, and no reservations, the wait time is unbearable. I had to wait for about an hour before being called. The menu is confirmed at the time of guidance. I ordered the Hand-Drawn Yuba Omotenashi. Since it was crowded, the service was a bit rough, but that shouldn't be a concern. The food arrived shortly after being seated. It didn't even take 10 minutes. Considering the long wait to be seated, this was surprisingly fast and appreciated. Along with rice and miso soup, the main dish was the hand-drawn yuba, miso-marinated tofu, sesame tofu with okara, warabi mochi (kinako), with a high soybean content. The only exception was the sesame tofu, which is not made from soybeans, but it was still considered tofu. The hand-drawn yuba comes with two types of soy sauce and ponzu. Since it is soaked in soy milk, the saltiness of the soy sauce and ponzu gradually mellows out, making it not too overwhelming. And there was more than I had imagined, which was nice. The side dishes, such as the sesame tofu and okara, had a gentle yet flavorful taste, making them easy to eat as much as you like. I finished it in no time. Despite appearing to be a small portion in the menu photos, I felt quite satisfied after finishing the meal. As I left, the line was still long. I wanted to buy the soy milk donuts, but I completely forgot as I was enveloped in a feeling of fullness.
