I wanted to eat Yudofu in Arashiyama, so I researched and found this restaurant which was relatively reasonable, so I decided to go. The location is right in front of Tenryu-ji Temple and very accessible. The seating is on the second floor, with a great view. When it comes to Yudofu in Kyoto, other places tend to offer a variety of dishes like tempura and sashimi, which can become expensive. However, this restaurant offers a selection of dishes that are very Kyoto-like, as shown in the photos. I chose the Sagano Gozen (¥1,980), which is a set that includes Yudofu, Yuba, and Chawanmushi, a great deal. There are other options like Yuba Ankake Don, but in terms of Yudofu, this was the one to go for. The Yudofu was indeed silky smooth and delicious, although personally I would have liked a stronger kombu broth. Overall, I was satisfied with being able to eat Yudofu in Arashiyama. The miso soup and Yuba sashimi were also delicious, making it a Kyoto-centric lunch. The restaurant had plenty of seating and was spacious, with English-speaking staff, making it clear that it caters to tourists.

First time visiting this smoke-free establishment with no smoking area, which was filled with foreign tourists, causing a bit of a wait. The prices seemed to be geared towards tourists. I ordered a beer and some food, and the food arrived quicker than the bottled beer. The tofu and pork in sweet miso sauce over rice was okay, but I probably won't be coming back next time.

I visited the restaurant around 5 pm. There were about two groups of customers ahead of me, so I was able to enter the restaurant quickly. I ordered something like the Arashiyama set meal. The rice with yuba ankake was really delicious! The yuba ankake had a slightly mature taste, haha. I thought I would like to go eat ankake yuba bowl again. I was able to choose my seat freely and got a seat where I could eat while looking at the outside view. The sunset was really beautiful, it was great!

This is a restaurant in Arashiyama that specializes in dishes featuring yuba (tofu skin). I had the Arashiyama Gozen set menu for around 2100 yen. Despite most lunch options being around 1000 yen, the taste was delicious and the portion size was generous. The dishes featuring yuba, such as the Yuba Hot Pot and Yuba Ankake Don, were particularly tasty! I was surprised by the great value for money.

When walking from Saga-Arashiyama Station towards Togetsukyo Bridge, you will come across a tofu restaurant. This time, I ordered the Saga Gozen for 1980 yen. There was hardly any wait time, and the various tofu dishes that came out were fantastic! The miso soup was light and Kyoto-style. The creamy yuba was also rich and delicious. Next door is a tea room, which serves desserts, so be careful not to mix them up.

It had a nice atmosphere, the restaurant was clean and it's very close to Tenryu-ji Temple entrance. If you walk a bit further, you'll also find Togetsukyo Bridge, so it's a perfect place for a meal before sightseeing. The prices were reasonable, and the yuba (tofu skin) was delicious. The warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings) was especially tasty. It's a relaxing place where you can eat until you're full.

I visited a shop in Arashiyama! It was right near Tenryu-ji and I was able to enter right away, but the inside was a bit crowded with customers during lunchtime. I ordered the Hand-bucket scooped Yuba Set Meal for ¥1720, which included multigrain rice, miso soup, nama-fu (wheat gluten), two small side dishes, pickles, yuba (tofu skin), and warabi mochi. The yuba is meant to be dipped in soy sauce and ponzu, and the warm yuba was delicious! I usually eat cold dishes, so this was a nice change. The miso soup was a bit sweet but tasty, though slightly lukewarm. The side dishes of u-no-hana (daylily) and ganmodoki (tofu fritter) were quite ordinary. The nama-fu was tasty as expected, but nothing extraordinary. Overall, there wasn't anything that particularly stood out as complementing the rice, so the amount of rice was just right. I think turning it into a yuba rice bowl with sauce might have been a better choice. You can get one free rice refill, but they don't inform you unless you ask, so it would be nice if they mentioned it. If you're looking for a healthy meal option, this might be a good choice! Thank you for the meal!

【Atmosphere】A restaurant where you can dine while overlooking the townscape of Arashiyama from the second floor. The tables are spacious, so you can relax. 【Taste】Ordered Yudofu Omotenashi. The yudofu can be seasoned with ponzu or soy sauce according to your preference. It was truly delicious, and each bite brought a feeling of happiness. However, the amount of yudofu is quite large, so I think it's better for those who eat lightly or are watching their diet to be careful. Also, the side dishes were all delicious♪ The miso dengaku was chewy and excellent.

On a cold day, I was looking for something warm to eat and came across a place that served zenzai. It had been a while since I had zenzai, and I felt that in the snowy season of Arashiyama, something warm was definitely needed. There was Tenryu-ji Temple in front of me, and there were counter seats where I could see cute tourists in kimonos and the townscape. The interior of the shop was very warm, which is necessary in cold Kyoto. I enjoyed a warm zenzai. It was not too sweet and just the right amount to eat, making me feel revived from the cold. I would like to come back here again as I was able to relax. Thank you for the meal ♡♡♡

I enjoyed the Yuba Gozen (tofu skin set meal) where you can scoop up hot water with a ladle. It was super fun and very reasonable. You can even get free rice refills, which is a plus! The tofu skin was soft and melty, with a variety of delicious flavors that don't get boring. Thank you for the delicious meal! It was so tasty!

At the end of the year, I always come here without fail. This year, I visited on New Year's Eve. It was around 11 o'clock, and there were quite a few customers. I ordered the "Hand-picked Yuba Rice Bowl Set". The yuba was a bit lukewarm... I realized that the taste and texture are greatly diminished when it's not properly warmed up. In terms of cost performance, I come here every year so I know the prices and find them acceptable. It was around 1700 yen. The service was the biggest issue this time. This was a first for me. 1) The sign on the first floor said, "Please wait here for the staff to come," but no one came even after about 5 minutes. Growing impatient, I went upstairs and was told, "The staff will come to you, please wait." But they didn't come even though I waited... 2) There were 7 of us (5 adults, 2 children), so we were seated on the empty first floor. I don't recommend the first floor. Every time the door opens, cold air comes in. It's terrible to sit in front of the door. If you're concerned about outside air or ventilation, then it might be suitable. There were other empty seats, so I wished they had seated us elsewhere. 3) The staff left the door open. I understand they're busy, but... and even other customers left it open. It was seriously cold... The food that was supposed to be warm also got cold. I must have stood up and closed the door at least 15 times. I've been coming here every year, but I'm considering trying another restaurant next year.

Yuba!!!! It was delicious! However, since it was the peak of the autumn leaves season, we had to wait a long time. The yuba and other dishes were tasty, but they weren't really the type of dishes that make you want to eat a lot of rice... so we ended up just nibbling on them. Overall, it wasn't bad! Thank you for the meal!

Once I decided to come to Arashiyama, I looked at various information sites and decided to visit this restaurant. The location is just across the street from the main gate of Tenryuji Temple, so it was easy to find. The first floor is a takeout counter selling soy milk donuts and yuba soft serve ice cream. The yuba soft serve is said to not fall even when turned upside down, but it might be difficult to eat in mid-November. If you come during the hot season, it's worth trying. The second floor is the main dining area. Although there are a fair number of seats, due to various factors such as Kyoto-style tofu dishes, the view of the autumn leaves at Tenryuji Temple, the lunchtime on weekends, and no reservations, the wait time is unbearable. I had to wait for about an hour before being called. The menu is confirmed at the time of guidance. I ordered the Hand-Drawn Yuba Omotenashi. Since it was crowded, the service was a bit rough, but that shouldn't be a concern. The food arrived shortly after being seated. It didn't even take 10 minutes. Considering the long wait to be seated, this was surprisingly fast and appreciated. Along with rice and miso soup, the main dish was the hand-drawn yuba, miso-marinated tofu, sesame tofu with okara, warabi mochi (kinako), with a high soybean content. The only exception was the sesame tofu, which is not made from soybeans, but it was still considered tofu. The hand-drawn yuba comes with two types of soy sauce and ponzu. Since it is soaked in soy milk, the saltiness of the soy sauce and ponzu gradually mellows out, making it not too overwhelming. And there was more than I had imagined, which was nice. The side dishes, such as the sesame tofu and okara, had a gentle yet flavorful taste, making them easy to eat as much as you like. I finished it in no time. Despite appearing to be a small portion in the menu photos, I felt quite satisfied after finishing the meal. As I left, the line was still long. I wanted to buy the soy milk donuts, but I completely forgot as I was enveloped in a feeling of fullness.

It was delicious, but I felt like I had to eat yudofu and yuba because I came to Kyoto! It's good if it's served at home, but I wondered if it was worth paying for it... This is a matter of preference! The restaurant is not bad! I want to try going to an expensive yudofu restaurant where boiled tofu is the main dish and eat rice... Maybe the yudofu here was just too ordinary, or maybe I just don't appreciate the value of yudofu.

Kyoto Honeymoon Autumn Leaves Journey 11/16 Lunch On the second day, we lined up for the famous Saga Tofu Ine for about 30 minutes. The recommended dish here is definitely the Arashiyama Gozen. It may be a bit pricey, but the Saga Yuba Donburi with plenty of freshly drawn yuba is delicious on its own. In addition, the small dishes such as nama-fu dengaku are representative of Arashiyama cuisine, making it very satisfying. Everyone at the table ordered the Arashiyama Gozen, and I definitely want to try it again. The freshly drawn yuba was surprisingly generous in portion! The yuba bowl was a perfect match of yuba and sauce. #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #KyotoLunch #SagaTofu #YubaCuisine #YubaDonburi #FreshlyDrawnYuba #SagaTofuIneMainStore #SagaTofu #SagaTofuIne #ArashiyamaGozen

Located in Saga, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. With the lifting of movement restrictions, Kyoto has regained its liveliness and was bustling with people. This restaurant is on the street opposite Tenryu-ji Temple. I climbed the stairs to the second floor. The first floor was filled with people enjoying sweets. Now, the second floor. It was a late lunchtime, but it was full so I had to wait a bit before being seated. I ordered the Zaru Yuba Udon (1100 yen). You dip the udon and yuba in the sauce with condiments. The udon was chewy with a strong texture and very delicious. The service was not self-service, but there was a sign asking to return the tray. Payment is cash only. Since it's a tourist area, I wish they accepted payment through electronic means like Pay services.

I waited for about 30 minutes. The variety of dishes for this price is satisfying. I personally like the fried tofu in sweet miso sauce, so I was happy to see it included. However, all the dishes are light, so men may find it a bit lacking in portion size.

I ordered the Kyoto-style Yudofu Ankake set meal, which came with Yudofu Ankake rice bowl, white miso soup, tempura, nama-fu dango, pickles, and warabi mochi. It was my first time trying tempura made with Manjushage chili pepper, and it was surprisingly sweet and delicious! I realized that I'm not a fan of nama-fu, but overall, the meal gave me a true taste of Kyoto. I would like to try Yudofu next time. Thank you for the delicious meal! ŧ‹"ŧ‹"ŧ‹"ŧ‹"(๑´ㅂ`๑)ŧ‹"ŧ‹"

During my trip to Arashiyama, I stayed overnight at a hot spring inn. The next morning, the weather was bad and it was raining. On my way back to the inn after a short walk, I passed by a tofu specialty shop called "Saga Tofu Ina." Since I love matcha and yuba, this matcha and yuba soft serve caught my eye. It was unexpectedly delicious, which surprised me! The yuba soft serve had a strong yuba flavor, and it paired perfectly with the light taste of matcha. It was a great surprise!

The interior of the restaurant exudes an elegant atmosphere with traditional Japanese architecture, and from the second floor seats, you can enjoy a charming view of the Arashiyama scenery, including the main gate of Tenryu-ji Temple. With around 60 seats, it can get very crowded during lunchtime due to its popularity. The menu mainly focuses on tofu dishes made with carefully selected ingredients and homemade tofu that prioritizes safety and quality. The simmered yuba is deliciously creamy, while the yuba itself has a soft and melt-in-your-mouth texture. The reasonable prices make it easy to see why this restaurant is so popular.
