Today was a thank-you gathering for the officers who retired at this year's general meeting. We chose this restaurant that the former officer likes, and as a token of appreciation, we had a modest meal of their favorite tempura skewers. It's a place the former officer had taken me to before, and even though it's been a few years since I last visited, the restaurant's atmosphere remains unchanged, with delicious tempura skewers and thoughtful service. Truly a longstanding establishment. We ordered a course of 12 tempura skewers, a meal, and dessert, but in the end, we added 3 more skewers. It's an omakase style, where they fry a variety of seasonal vegetables, fish, and meat on a single skewer. The breadcrumbs are very fine, giving a crispy and elegant texture to the tempura. The fresh vegetables are served with the restaurant's original meat miso for dipping. The meat miso is rich and delicious, yet the flavor of the vegetables still shines through. They also seem to sell it. In addition, we had winter melon stew and eggplant potage. It was my first time trying eggplant potage, and it was surprisingly light with a refreshing touch of balsamic vinegar. The tempura included ginger-wrapped pork, young ayu fish, fresh wheat gluten, corn, edamame, pond crab, eel, and more, offering a diverse and enjoyable experience. The meal ended with their famous tea-infused rice topped with plenty of seaweed. The crispy texture of the seaweed was delightful. For dessert, we had blood orange jelly, followed by a warm hojicha tea to close the meal. Whenever I come here, I am able to escape the usual hustle and bustle and enjoy a leisurely meal in a peaceful setting with fantastic tempura. It was a wonderful dining experience!
