On Friday at 2:30 PM, I went to Arisugawa's "Ramen Arashi". I ordered the "Oni Arashi Ramen (950 yen)", which you can choose from 3 different types: spicy black, rich spicy red, or mild spicy yellow. I chose the red one. I asked for the noodles to be firm. It arrived in 4 minutes. With the first bite, it was delicious. The soup had a deliciously spicy tonkotsu flavor. The tonkotsu punch was quite strong. The spiciness was just right, maybe the black one would have been good too. It had plenty of mizuna, green onions, chashu, and sesame seeds as toppings. The noodles were thin noodles. It was quite unique with toppings that had a lot of character. The "Arashi Ramen" is a salt tonkotsu, while the "Kage Arashi Ramen" is a fish sauce soy sauce tonkotsu. It is located in a quite rare area. Thank you for the meal.

The atmosphere of the staff was very nice at this restaurant. The ramen is tonkotsu ramen, but it's more like an evolved version of Hakata tonkotsu ramen! I was surprised to see pickled radish on top, but it was also good!! I would love to visit again!

There is a parking lot on the north side, with spaces numbered 5, 6, and 9. There is also a convenient bike parking in front of the shop. The atmosphere of the shop reminds me of a roadside diner. You can change the type of ramen for an additional fee, which gives you some freedom. It's a shame that the fried chicken is only available at night. You can choose the firmness of the noodles when ordering. You also receive a free ticket for an extra serving of noodles when you pay. The Arashi Set (¥1000) includes soup made from Himalayan rock salt, sardine-based Rausu kombu, horse mackerel, Pacific saury, and bonito fish broth combined with pork bone. It is recommended to mix it well before eating as there are ingredients settled at the bottom. The noodles are the usual straight thin noodles. The toppings include chashu, green onions, pickled radish, mizuna, and seaweed. It's impressive how they thought to combine pickled radish with pork bone broth.

I had ramen six years ago and regretted the time and expense a little. Recently, with high word-of-mouth reviews, I thought, "Oh! Maybe it has become delicious now!" and revisited to eat again. It hasn't changed. The taste is boring. In six years, the taste hasn't changed at all. If I had to say, the visual presentation of the ramen has become more beautiful. The lunch set is ¥1000 tax included. If it's Arashi Don, it's delicious. Next time, if it's the same Marutamachi Street, I will visit Champion for the 6th time. It's delicious.

I had some errands to run in Arashiyama that day, so I searched for a nearby delicious ramen shop. I found this place and decided to pay a visit. It was Sunday at noon, and the restaurant was full. I had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated. I was shown to a counter seat, but there were also sunken kotatsu seats, which was unusual for a ramen shop. They serve Kyushu-style ramen with thin noodles, and you can customize the firmness of the noodles, the richness of the broth, and the amount of flavored oil. There were various condiments on the table for further customization. I chose the Oni Arashi Ramen (Yellow), which had homemade spicy miso and special sauce in the pork bone broth. The broth had a gentle spiciness and was incredibly delicious. Despite being pork bone broth, it had a light aftertaste that paired well with the thin noodles. I also ordered the Arashi Don, a bowl with an unusual combination of ingredients like chashu, white sesame, kinshi tamago, pickled radish, green onions, chopped seaweed, and special sauce. It was surprisingly tasty. Sometimes, it's nice to have pork bone ramen. Thank you for the meal. ★

The restaurant had a sign saying it would open at 18:00, but when I arrived, there was another sign saying it would open at 18:30. To pass the time, I browsed around a nearby store and found chilled dumplings for 398 yen for 40 pieces, which seemed like a good deal. I tried the "Oni Arashi Ramen" which was a spicy tonkotsu ramen. The broth was not as strong as last time, but it had a good balance with the spiciness. The noodles were thin and had a strong texture, and the overall taste was delicious. The chashu (sliced pork) was thin and there was not much of it, but it went well with the garlic and soup on the table. With the weather getting colder, it's the perfect season for enjoying a bowl of ramen.

Kyoto Ramen Restaurant ULTRA BINGO 13th spot. Located in the western part of Kyoto, near Hiroshawa Pond which often appears in dramas. The shop has a parking lot on the east side for three cars. The menu has unique names, so you need to read the descriptions to understand the dishes. I ordered the Devilishly Spicy Ramen for 850 yen with extra green onions, and chose the firm noodle option. The Devilishly Spicy Ramen comes in three levels of spiciness: black for very spicy, red for a rich spiciness, and yellow for a milder spiciness. The ramen that arrived had a generous amount of watercress in the middle, and the soup was a deep red color, probably due to the spiciness. The base of the soup seemed to be a relatively light tonkotsu (pork bone) broth, with the spiciness likely coming from miso. It might have been better to customize the flavor using the condiments on the table. The noodles were thin, which suited the tonkotsu ramen well. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't outstanding. However, it might become delicious once you customize it to your liking from the standard preparation. It's quite tricky to get it just right.

In the morning, I attended a training session in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. The session was supposed to last for 2 hours, but thanks to the passionate speech and practical examples provided by the instructor, all participants had a fulfilling time. In the afternoon, we moved to Arashiyama for a social visit. We had 3 hours to explore the food scene in Kyoto, so my boss and ramen-loving friend T and I headed to a ramen shop. The shop we were looking for, "Ramen Arashi," was a bit far from the bus stop, so we took a taxi. Upon arrival, we found the shop with a lovely sign and a white curtain with the characters for "Arashi." The interior had counter seats on the right and table seats on a raised platform on the left. We chose the table seats and ordered our ramen. The menu offered three types of ramen - Arashi Ramen, Oni Arashi Ramen, and Kage Arashi Ramen, each with options for toppings, soup thickness, and noodle firmness. My order was Arashi Ramen with firm noodles, while T ordered Kage Arashi Ramen with thick soup and firm noodles. The ramen was served, and we enjoyed the delicious meal, with the broth having a punchy flavor and various condiments available for customization. We also had toppings like seaweed, watercress, and pickles to enhance the experience. T's Kage Arashi Ramen had a different soup base and additional toppings compared to my Arashi Ramen. After the meal, we walked back leisurely, exploring more food spots in the area. There's still more to discover in the food scene around Arashiyama in Kyoto!

I had the Arashi Ramen at a ramen shop near the site, but next time I want to try a different ramen (I think it was Kage Arashi?). It was a bright and friendly ramen shop with a good atmosphere!

A review of a restaurant I often visit. Around the 50th visit. Located in Ukyo Ward, near JR Arashiyama, with a home center nearby. Easy to find along Marutamachi Street, with parking for 3 cars. As someone who travels by car for work, parking is my biggest concern. This place is very convenient with a parking lot right next to it. As for the ramen, they serve a rare authentic Hakata-style salt tonkotsu with ultra-thin noodles, which is quite unique in Kyoto. For tonkotsu lovers, this place is a gem to have opened nearby! I recommend the salt tonkotsu with extra rich flavor, extra firm noodles, and extra oil. The soup is a refined tonkotsu broth, without any gamey smell, and easy to drink up. The pickled vegetables on the side also complement the meal well, bringing a subtle change in flavor to the soup towards the end. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, perhaps thanks to the efforts of the owner's wife. I wish they offered half-sized extra noodles and served their Arashi fried chicken during lunch as well. Other than that, it's a highly recommended ramen shop. I will definitely go back.

Kyushu Tonkotsu, Kyoto-style. "Kyoto-style Salt Tonkotsu" (2015.11: 53). "Tonkotsu", "Straight (extra thin)" (2014.9: 73). Open for ordering in firm texture. "A rare salt tonkotsu in Kyoto. A rich tonkotsu soup with a hint of seafood broth in the salt sauce." (2014.9: 73) Notes: Oily but (perhaps because of that?) the saltiness is perceived as mild. "Arashi Don" is recommended.

Based on Hakata ramen, this dish incorporates watercress and pickled shiba to give it a Kyoto twist. The pork bone soup is free of any unpleasant odor, indicating careful preparation. It is a high-quality Hakata ramen with a touch of Kyoto.

It's tonkotsu ramen, but it's light and you can get extra noodles! The Arashi Don is also delicious, so I recommend getting the Mini Arashi Don as a set!

The first time I went, it was incredibly delicious and I was impressed! But after going a few times, my taste buds got used to it, so it became just average (^^; However, the pickled radish adds a nice accent and is surprisingly delicious. The staff at the restaurant are also very friendly and create a warm atmosphere.
