On this day, I couldn't find the traditional castella I was looking for at a reasonable price for home use, so I ended up choosing "Fukusaya Cube (270 yen each)" from the limited options available. I felt a bit sorry as I told the lady at the shop. When I took a bite... Wow, hmm? Oh, I accidentally ate the paper at the bottom (^^;). The sweetness of the zaramé between the paper and the castella was good, making it easy to eat. The castella was a nice yellow color with a moist texture, and it was slightly on the sweeter side, but I think that's just right for castella. Suddenly, I realized how tough it is to be single at times like this... Thank you for the meal.

Castella is by far my favorite from Fukusaya. This cube contains 2 slices, perfect for a snack or a small gift. It is colorful and you can choose from about 5 colors - blue, purple, pink, yellow, green. I can't help but want all 5 colors! It is moist, fluffy, sweet but not too sweet, and I love it.

Today, I got a set of Dutch cake size 0.6 and castella size 1. I just realized that you can buy Fukusaya's castella even in Sapporo. Fukusaya's castella is my favorite, so I tend to favor it. Even though size 0.6 is enough to eat at home, I still want to eat plenty of size 1. The distinctive feature of Nagasaki castella is that there are leftover granules on the back, and without them, it doesn't feel like I've eaten anything. The Dutch cake might be mistaken for just a chocolate cake, but it has a mellow taste with walnuts, raisins, and cocoa. It's delicious, but it still can't beat castella.
