There is a stylish and affordable café a short walk from the main shrine of Kifune Shrine. For an additional 500 yen, you can sit by the river. Today, I had the cheesecake set. After hiking in the mountains near Kurama Temple, the coolness and sweetness really hit the spot. It was fun to use the riverside seating for tea time.

No, this is the correct address... Despite my thoughts, I wanted to eat before it got crowded, so I decided to go in and have the cheesecake set here ★ Payment was cash only. You order and pay first, then wait at your table, and when the buzzer rings, you go pick up your order. I was called in about 5 minutes after sitting down ♬ The staff were friendly. Paper plates, forks, and plastic cups. Honestly, is this worth the price...? (･_･;) I felt like it was a tourist spot price. lol The cheesecake was delicious. However, I don't think it was worth the price ( ˘ω˘ ; ) It's ¥750 for just the cheesecake, but compared to the price, I think the cheesecake from a local bakery is cheaper and tastier ( ˘ω˘ ; ) I had iced tea, which was just average. They only have straight iced tea. I later found out that there was another store just a short walk away with the same menu. They had a lunch menu there ( ･-･̥ ) I went to the address I looked up, but... I thought it was strange. However, having cake for lunch was nice, and it was good for exploring other food places afterwards ⸜( ˙꒳˙ )⸝ I'm generally positive, so that's how I felt ★ The atmosphere of the store was nice, but the cost performance was not great, and I didn't find it that delicious, so I will rate it accordingly here ( ˙꒳​˙ )

On a scorching hot day in July, my friend from afar wanted to visit Kibune. Despite being 10 degrees cooler than the city, it was still sweltering, and we were sweating profusely. Every riverside dining area was fully booked. In the midst of this, we decided to cool off at a café where we were told we could sit on the floor for a seat fee of 500 yen. I ordered a cream soda for 700 yen, which turned out to be smaller than I expected. It was so hot that I had to sip it slowly, fearing it would disappear in no time if I drank it normally. We managed to snag a seat where we could splash our feet in the water while enjoying the cool breeze. By around 4:30 pm, a gentle wind started blowing, allowing us to relax and enjoy ourselves. I thought 1,200 yen was a bit expensive, but since there seemed to be no time limit, it was worth it for a leisurely experience. I would like to visit again during a cooler season.笑 (I wonder if there are no riverside dining areas in cooler seasons...)

I had planned to visit Kibune Shrine, but on the day I checked the date and realized that I had to visit between 11:00 and 13:00 during the "Aka-guchi" time, and feeling tired from work, I decided to take a random break. In this area, you can enjoy a very reasonable and relaxing meal. I had a delicious wild boar rice dish. The freshly cooked rice has a special taste, doesn't it? I spent a very pleasant time waiting leisurely for the rice to cook and then enjoying the hot rice. After finishing the meal, you return the dishes yourself, which is quite convenient, I think. I am very satisfied.

Towards the end of October, if the weather is good, it's perfect for a light hike. In Kyoto, one popular route is starting from Kurama Station, visiting Kurama Temple, climbing the mountain, passing through Okumiya, and descending towards Kifune Shrine. During autumn, there are many hikers and the trails can get crowded. Even if you walk at a leisurely pace, you can reach Kifune Shrine in about 2 and a half hours from Kurama Station. However, the restaurants in the Kifune area tend to be quite expensive, starting from around 3000 yen, making it difficult to casually enter a restaurant. One option is the Kibune Club, where you can enjoy dishes like button meat for around 1000 yen. The restaurant was nearly full, but my order arrived in 20 minutes. The button meat bowl was delicious, with well-cooked meat and flavorful seasoning. The rice was well-cooked, and the fresh egg yolk added a nice touch. The red miso soup was also good for its price. Overall, I recommend this place if it's not too crowded. It might be even better in winter.

After enjoying the atmosphere and food on a cool floor, you can take a break at this café in the Kibune area. It's a must-visit because there are no other options. The café is just average, nothing special. The spacing between tables is generous, so you won't be bothered by neighboring tables.

After taking a walk, I visited a cafe that has a natural and relaxing atmosphere with a lot of wood used in the decor. I tried the matcha parfait for 1250 yen. It included matcha ice cream, vanilla ice cream, mochi balls, chestnuts, brownie, matcha jelly, whipped cream, and cereal. However, there was a bit too much cereal in it, so the overall content felt lacking. The taste was quite sweet. The tables were placed quite close together, so I felt that a more spacious arrangement would make it even more relaxing.

I intended to go straight home, but I was drawn in by the atmosphere and ended up having a light meal. The cheesecake set A was sold out, so I ordered the mocha banana set B instead. It was delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness. After leisurely walking around the Kibune Shrine area for 1 or 2 hours, I thought that this level of sweetness would appeal to a wide range of ages. The iced coffee was okay, but I felt like it was a small portion. However, the exterior and interior of the shop were stylish, and the music playing was also stylish.

After finishing eating somen noodles, I stopped by this place. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was quiet, with jazz music playing in the background. Sitting by the window, I could see lush greenery reflecting on the tables, creating a pleasant ambiance. I ordered a cake set and a matcha parfait, both of which tasted delicious. The cheesecake in the cake set had a rich and fluffy texture, making it very tasty.

I went to Kibune Shrine on an empty stomach in the morning. When I got off at the bus stop, I saw many restaurants along the mountain path. Since it was still before lunch, I was looking for a place where I could eat a little and take a break. I found this place because it was drizzling. There were several meal options, but I decided to go for the cheesecake set. The set included cheesecake and a cup of hot tea for ¥900. The cheesecake was not too sweet or sour, making it very easy to eat and delicious!

Around 12:30 on December 21, my wife and I visited Kurama-dera and Kifune Shrine for a hike and stopped by this restaurant on our way back. It is located near Kifune Shrine, known for being reasonable, having a good atmosphere, and being relaxing. I didn't have high expectations, but it turned out to be just as good as the reviews said. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with effective heating, which was nice as it had gotten colder in the afternoon. There were only two groups when we arrived, but by the time we left, it was about 70% full. I ordered the eel bowl for ¥2,250, and my wife ordered the kamameshi for ¥1,800. The kamameshi arrived quickly and they lit the fire underneath it. It would take about 20 minutes to cook, so in the meantime, they brought us some appetizers and pickles. The timing of serving the warm dishes was well thought out. However, just 5 minutes later, they brought out the kamameshi side dish (nanbanzuke) and the eel bowl. I thought they were supposed to take 20 minutes to cook the kamameshi? It was disappointing that they didn't consider the timing for us, as we were a party of two. The eel bowl was light and easy to eat, but it felt like it was ready in just 5 minutes, like it was reheated in a microwave. The staff seemed to be young and inexperienced. Overall, it was a bit underwhelming for a restaurant affiliated with Kurama's Ugeta. Considering the prices and taste for a tourist area, it was average. The kamameshi was also just average in taste. In an area where many restaurants are high-end, this place stands out for being reasonably priced and having a good atmosphere. Many people have mentioned that it would be more impressive as a cafe. If they could just improve the timing of serving the food, I would rate it 3.0.

After visiting Kifune Shrine, it's nice to take a little break on the way back. I don't know why, but it's very calming. I didn't plan to stay long, but I ended up chatting too much and relaxing. The view outside the window and the air flowing through the shop are very pleasant. The organic coffee was delicious. It was a wonderful time!

I was very hungry so I decided to drop by this place that looked nice. I ordered a dish with yuba (tofu skin). I wished the yuba had a firmer texture and a stronger flavor. It came with a thick sweet and savory sauce on top. There was no broth flavor, so it lacked depth. Even though I hate leaving food, I ended up leaving half of it. It cost 1500 yen. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy with a fireplace and a log cabin vibe. The service was a bit unpolished, with locals and students working part-time. It felt like a cheap tasting meal you would have at home on a Saturday afternoon. I don't think I'll be coming back.

I visited Kibune Club. The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Kibune Shrine. It was full of customers visiting Kibune Shrine. I ordered the seasonal kamameshi (kettle rice) and Kyoto yuba bowl. First, they brought me nanbanzuke (marinated fish) and pickles, and then they brought the kamameshi to my table. It felt like it was cooked at the table, and it was ready to eat about 20 minutes after being brought to the table. They also brought red miso soup when it was ready. It had a fragrant smell of mushrooms and chicken, with some tempura inside, and the broth was rich. The Kyoto yuba bowl had yuba (tofu skin) and sauce on top of rice, with chopped seaweed and green onions. It was delicious too. Thank you for the meal.

If I could stay overnight in Kyoto, I would like to visit places I have never been to before the next day. This time, I went to Kifune Shrine. Despite the traces of the typhoon, I was healed by the clear stream and negative ions from the trees. I had a meal here. The reason was simple, the guidebook I used when planning my sightseeing recommended this place. After eating (Kyoto tofu rice), I regretted not checking on Tabelog beforehand (laughs). Oh, but the local beer was delicious. It was ridiculously expensive at 1,150 yen per bottle. Most of all, I was able to relax alone in a tatami room, which was very nice for relieving the fatigue of the trip.

White jade sweet red bean soup ★★★★☆ The kelp eaten in between is delicious!

I got wet in the rain and had to wait inside the store for a long time. I didn't want to wait 20 minutes for the kettle rice, so I had chicken bowl instead, but it wasn't particularly delicious. The portion was small and it didn't seem to go well with red miso. The taste was homey, and it didn't go well with sansho pepper. Maybe ichimi or shichimi would be better. I felt the characteristic high prices of Kyoto.

Matcha water mochi was not as jiggly as expected.

The inside of the store is warm, but it's a bit chilly by the window. The staff were very friendly! The pancakes had a lot of cream. The matcha parfait was very filling and had a generous portion.
