A lunch spot at Fushimi Inari that you can't help but enter because of the smell of eel!
■ Overview
I came to visit Fushimi Inari and searched for a delicious-looking restaurant nearby on Tabelog, which led me to visit "Nezameya" here. The storefront was grilling eel and had a nice vibe, so I decided to go inside. The interior of the restaurant has a Japanese-style udon/soba shop feel, with tables made of Japanese-style wood lining the open space without partitions. The first thing that surprised me when I looked at the menu was the prices, which were tourist prices. Even as someone who considers themselves a Kyoto regular, I found them to be quite high. I was considering the grilled eel, but the price for one tail starting at 5,800 yen made me think twice... Well, this seemed more reasonable, but the shrimp tempura udon for 1,500 yen and the Asahi beer for 600 yen reminded me of the prices at Rian in Shirokanedai (a soba shop). Now, for the food... Hmm! It's just average!... Well, this kind of thing happens in tourist areas. I spotted a shop nearby that sells hand-made soba. I'll try eating there next time.

■ Atmosphere & Service of the Restaurant 40/100 points 8pt (4 points pass, 5 points acceptable)
□ Atmosphere
The atmosphere is like a Japanese-style udon shop, and it's bustling during lunchtime. The distinctive heavy wooden tables and chairs are characteristic. The interior is an open space without partitions, with a lot of posters stuck on the walls (laughs). It can't be denied that it feels like an old-fashioned touristy lord business udon shop. → The wording of the posters is not good. The aggressive business sense is off-putting.
□ Service
The service is average, but considering the prices, it's below par. Infection control is limited to disinfection at the entrance. Cash only policy. The staff wear matching black T-shirts.
■ Detailed Evaluation of the Food 40/100 points 24pt
□ Inari Sushi
A typical Kansai-style inari sushi with a triangular shape, a little less rice, and a prominent sweetness of fried tofu. It has sesame seeds mixed in, which gives it a nice texture. This one is delicious, as expected from a shop located on the approach to Fushimi Inari.
□ Udon
Just a regular udon. It has a slightly sweet taste with a Kansai-style broth. It reminded me of Udon no Imai.
□ Eel Bowl
The eel bowl was drenched in sauce, and the eel was fully soaked in the sauce, giving it a well-done feel. Hmm, the amount of eel is about 1/4 tail, so it's on the smaller side. - The eel sauce has a salty sweetness. - The eel is Kansai-style, but it feels like the fat has been removed, giving it a firm, sugary taste.
■ Cost Evaluation 25/100 points 5pt
It's a typical tourist price. The eel is priced at the same level (or even higher) as Daikokuya Unagiya, which is well-known in Kyoto, but the taste is not that great. The balance between taste and price is extremely poor. However, it's still better than the ramen shop in Atami.
