The area around Shijo and Kyoto Station is still crowded with people as usual, but the Fushimi area centered around Keihan Fushimi-Momoyama Station is a more relaxed place to visit with a moderate number of tourists, allowing you to leisurely explore the main shopping streets and sake breweries. One place I had always wanted to visit was a cafe called Fushimi Yume Hyakushu, located in the heart of the sake brewery district, which offers sweets made with sake and sells sake-related souvenirs. Although I am not good with alcohol, I love sweets made with alcohol, so I decided to try the sake ice cream with vanilla ice cream topped with aged sake or liqueur. I ordered the liqueur with yuzu lemon flavor, which the staff described as a taste that is easy to imagine, similar to rum raisin. The sake was not too strong, so I cautiously poured it over the vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was light and creamy, and the sake did not overpower the taste, allowing me to enjoy the flavor combination. The iced coffee was refreshing and had a sharp taste, perfect for a hot day. The set cost 1,100 yen. You can also admire the interior decorations of the cafe, making it worth a visit. I have tried sake lees financier as a souvenir before, and I highly recommend it as a must-buy souvenir from Fushimi. I look forward to trying the financier and hot coffee set next time.

At the cafe and souvenir shop "Fushimi Yume Hyakushu" in the Fushimi sake brewery area, they serve sake ice cream such as Kyoto Hime (yuzu liqueur) and Eikun (aged sake) vanilla ice cream topped with alcohol. However, the ice cream was too hard, causing the yuzu liqueur to splash everywhere when poured on top. Although the yuzu liqueur was delicious, I couldn't help but feel that paying 700 yen for just ice cream with alcohol was a bit expensive. During my visit, the sake tasting event was very popular, and I couldn't help but think that the sake tasting set would be a better choice. I love sake but can't drink too much, so I am interested in trying out the "sake tasting set" in the relaxing and lovely atmosphere of the cafe.

I took a break at the cafe Yumehyakushu located in the former headquarters of Gekkeikan. I had the chilled coffee made with Fushimizu water, sake lees financiers, and sake manju for ¥1000. I also tried the chilled coffee made with Fushimizu water and sake manju for ¥800. Lastly, I had the chilled coffee made with Fushimizu water and kinako ice cream for ¥1000. The cafe has a stylish and calm atmosphere. Both the coffee and sweets were delicious!

Located near the famous sake brewery, Gekkeikan, in Fushimi, Kyoto. A very charming café in a lovely area. Let's go inside. The interior has a shop area and a spacious café space at the back. I ordered the Fushimi sake tasting set for 750 yen, which includes three different types of sake. The menu has detailed descriptions of the sake, making it easy to order. There is also a set of five varieties available for 1,500 yen, which includes snacks. In addition to sake, they also serve beer, wine, locally famous Fushimizu water-based cold brew coffee, sweets, and light meals. The tables are large, and the atmosphere is great due to the historic tourist spot. It was a Sunday, and there were still plenty of seats available. However, I imagine it must get very crowded on regular days.

☆彡This is a historic building in the Fushimi area, perfect for a break during a sake study tour. The exterior looks like a sake brewery, with a sign at the entrance saying "Cold brew coffee made with sake brewing water." Intrigued, I entered and found a local Fushimi sake-related sales corner right at the entrance. Further inside, there was a coffee corner with tables, offering a calm and cozy atmosphere. I enjoyed a Fushimi cold brew coffee (500 yen) in this historical building. One key to delicious coffee is the water, and Fushimi is known for its high-quality underground water, making it a top sake production area. The coffee, made with this water, was rich and aromatic, brewed with a generous amount of beans. It was a coffee that showcased attention to detail. ☕️

In Fushimi, Kyoto, I was drawn to the sake brewery Tsukasa-Kadokura Memorial Hall, where it seems that you can taste new sake. Before heading to a drinking party, my friends ordered coffee, but I opted for a set of 5 kinds of new sake to compare, costing 1500 yen, with 3 kinds of snacks included. It was great to be able to taste and determine which sake I liked, and I also purchased some sake to enjoy at home from the shop. The traditional sake brewery atmosphere was very relaxing.

Fushimi Yumehyakushu, with a retro atmosphere, is located in the former main building of Laurier. I tried their set of ice cream topped with aged English brandy and coffee brewed with sake brewing water. The aged brandy added a rich flavor similar to rum raisin. The coffee was also surprisingly delicious.

I wanted to try Fushimi sake, so I happened to visit this place. I noticed they offer a course where you can try 16 different types of sake for 1000 yen. It was great to enjoy various brands of sake while drinking. I would like to go again.

In Fushimi, Kyoto, after enjoying a boat ride on the Takashiki River and visiting the Teradaya, a place with historical significance to Ryoma Sakamoto, we stopped for a break at a charming establishment called Former Meikyo-Kan, which used to be a sake brewery. The old-fashioned appearance and the sign saying "Sake can be enjoyed from the morning" caught our attention, and we were drawn in. Near the entrance, there was a souvenir corner with Fushimi's famous sake and related items. In the back, there was a retro-style cafe where you could drink sake. I can't remember the specific brand, but I ordered a "mizore" sake. It was served slightly slushy, like a loose snow cone, and you would eat it with a spoon. It didn't melt easily, so you could enjoy it slowly. The sake itself was quite dry. It was late autumn when we visited, but it was a perfect treat after a summer day exploring Fushimi. It was a happy coincidence to find this place, and we were grateful for the delightful encounter. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Fushimi Yume Hyakushu offers a wide selection of Fushimi sake. I stopped by for a break during a sake brewery tour. I tried a glass of Ippin sake for 900 yen and sake ice cream for 650 yen. The Ippin sake was delicious with a nice balance of sweetness. My friend had the ice cream and offered me some of their aged sake, which had a woody aroma. I couldn't quite appreciate the depth of flavor that comes with aging yet. The cafe also offers coffee, tea, and Japanese-style sweets for non-drinkers. I love coffee too, so I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the meal!

Fushimi is known for the Battle of Toba-Fushimi during the end of the Edo period. It is also famous for the Teradaya and sake breweries. After visiting Teradaya, we headed to the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum. The building exudes a grand presence, typical of a large sake brewery. In one corner stands the former headquarters building of Gekkeikan, built in the Taisho era. Until 1993, it served as the main office of the sake maker Gekkeikan. Built in 1919, the interior still retains its old-fashioned charm with high ceilings and a spacious, warm wooden atmosphere. Today, it is a sake cafe for sake lovers, with 17 sake breweries from Fushimi. They offer a sake tasting set with five varieties that can be thoroughly enjoyed. They also serve sake sweets and coffee brewed with the same water used for brewing sake. Even for non-drinkers, it is an interesting cafe to visit. It is a rising popular spot for tourists. Sake Tasting Set 1100 yen: Eikun・Koto Senen Kyoto Sake Brewery Suitable rice・Celebration 100% usage - A gentle and elegant taste with a rich fruity ginjo aroma. Keicho・Fushimi no Sato Yamadanishiki rice polished to 35%, brewed into a luxurious sake. It has a moderate thickness with a refreshing aftertaste. Tamano Hikari・Bizen Omachi Omachi rice unique natural soft aroma, a harmonious taste of natural acidity and umami, and a sake that gives a plump thickness. Nuts 350 yen

I got my license♪ First drive with a super annoying instructor next to me lol~ Fushimi's Jikkokubune~ 50-minute guided tour for 1200 yen, great value♪ Enjoyed it with two friends on a perfect day for an outing♪ They should stop sending boats out every 20 minutes, it's worrying about running costs instead. Got bored halfway through listening to stories about the end of the Edo period, Teradaya, Shinsengumi, etc. Ate a sake manju and cheered up lol. So many sake breweries like Tsukasa Botan and Yellow Cherry Blossom, it's full of them. I want to come back for a date next time♡

Tuna bowl, yakitori, and now it's time for the next stop, "Fushimi Yume Hyakushu"! The goal at this restaurant is sweets, despite claiming to be doing a pub crawl in Fushimi and only having a little beer and sake before ending with sweets! This wimp! But even so, this wimp chose sweets that can be called "third stop of the pub crawl"!
Arriving at the restaurant just before 2 pm, it seemed like a busy time for tea break, but to our surprise, there were no other customers inside and no staff in sight. After calling out a few times, a staff member finally appeared and welcomed us.
We ordered the following:
- Sake Ice Cream with Eikun Aged Sake (1998) and a set with iced coffee (1000 yen)
- Mizore Sake (Tamanokou) for 650 yen (ordered by a friend)
The Sake Ice Cream with Eikun Aged Sake was a delicious combination of the sweetness of the ice cream and the depth of the aged sake. The iced coffee paired well with the adult-flavored ice cream. The Mizore Sake ordered by my friend was slightly dry and had a refreshing taste.
Despite the surprise of having sweets as the final stop of the pub crawl, it turned out to be a display of "sake aficionado" behavior from this wimp! After leaving the restaurant, I tried to persuade my friend for one more stop, but their resolve was firm. So, my Fushimi pub crawl series ended here at this restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

A lovely cafe renovated from a sake brewery! They offer sweets and drinks made with matcha, sake lees, and sweet sake. The seating is spacious with beautiful natural light, creating a charming atmosphere. The flavors are rich and delicious, especially the strong matcha taste. I definitely want to try the Ogura toast next time I visit!

This is a café in Fushimi, Kyoto. It is located in the old building of the former Tsukasa-konbu brewery, creating a charming atmosphere. I had planned to visit the brewery, but it was closed for the year-end holidays. As I was about to leave, I noticed a brewery-style building where I could take a break, so I decided to stop by. The space is divided into a shop selling sake and souvenirs, and a café space. Although it is a café, you can also do a sake tasting. This time, I ordered a unique set of cold brew coffee and sake ice cream. The vanilla ice cream served in a sake cup with aged sake poured over it was quite satisfying, especially in the brewery setting. The cold brew coffee was nothing special, but it was easy to drink and tasty.

Second visit to "Fushimi Yume Hyakushu". Entered the store as soon as it opened at 10:30 am, which was convenient. Ordered the "Kikizake Set Mattari" for 750 yen, which included "Shinsei Kyoto no Ryoma Junmai-shu", "Kizakura Kyoto Craft", and "Eikun Kotomillennium Junmai Ginjo". I realized that I had ordered the same "Mattari" set as last time, as I had forgotten what I had ordered before. It seems my preference for dry sake remains the same. Overall, I had a precious time enjoying delicious sake in a great atmosphere.

The place used to be the headquarters of the Gekkeikan Corporation since the Taisho era, with a retro and charming interior. While it is a cafe, they also offer tasting of various alcoholic beverages, including Fushimi water cold brew coffee. The photo shows sake ice cream, which was a delicious combination of slightly bitter aged sake poured over sweet ice cream. The shop sells a variety of sake, including frozen unpasteurized sake that can only be purchased there as a souvenir. It may have been the best sake I have ever tasted.

This is located in the Fushimi area, designated as a modern industrial heritage site, the former head office of Tsukasa-kon (built in 1919). It is located right at the corner where you turn from the Tsukasa-kon office area towards Teradaya, so it is very easy to spot. The building is surrounded by a protective wall called "inuyarai". Until August 1993, it was used as the main store of Tsukasa-kon. To protect the building from flooding caused by the Osaka River, stone steps and walls are built at the main entrance, and the floor is raised about 1 meter higher than the road, so you have to go up a few steps. The building has a charming atmosphere from the outside. Currently, the Fushimi Tourism Association, a non-profit organization, operates a cafe, souvenir shop, and tourist information center. As soon as you enter the shop, you will find a souvenir shop, and further inside, there is a cafe. The spacious interior is designed in the style of an old townhouse, with Western-style elements incorporated throughout. The menu includes regular coffee, tasting sake menu, and unique drinks. I tried the "Ice Amazake Ole", which is frozen amazake with milk poured over it. It was a dessert-like drink that was slightly sweet and easy to drink. The Sake Baumkuchen & Drip Coffee for 1050 yen was a strong coffee with a hint of alcohol aroma from the baumkuchen. Both were light and perfect for a relaxing teatime. It was a nice and relaxing time in the calm townhouse space. I would like to try the sake tasting next time. Thank you for the meal.

"Fushimi Yume Hyakushu" - I had a relaxing time with a sake tasting set for 750 yen, including three different types of sake from Kyoto. The pickles that came with the set could have been a bit more, but enjoying Japanese sake alone and clearing my mind was quite nice. It was a precious afternoon savoring delicious sake in a great atmosphere.

This neighborhood is great for strolling. There is a charming building at the end of a unnaturally curved road. Wow, you can also do sake tasting here! I later looked it up online and found out that it is the former headquarters of Kirin Brewery Company, built 100 years ago in 1919. I was seated at a spacious table by a female staff member. I chose a tasting set with five different types of sake. The Fushuku Ginjo-shu, Hinode Futo Special Junmai Daiginjo, and Keicho Junmai Ginjo were all elegant and delicious. Each set came with a small snack for only 750 yen, which was a great deal. I'll definitely come back again!
