On a holiday, I used the lunch service. I misjudged the traffic congestion on the road to Kibune on the weekend and ended up struggling to find parking. However, the landlady along the road kindly said, "You can park here easily at our place!" and I was able to finally reach the lunch spot! Furthermore, she even allowed me to park while I visited Kibune Shrine. What hospitality! I enjoyed a meal on the riverside, with fresh sashimi over the clear stream being the highlight. The meal included appetizers, grilled ayu fish, mini soba noodles, tempura, rice, soup, and dessert - I was completely satisfied! Please note that they only accept cash for payment!

I was asked to stop the car and eat, so I did. The course meal was around 3700 yen and consisted of all tempura in bite-sized portions. The rice had a hint of small dried fish and it was delicious. I would like to come back to eat by the riverbed. They also had Botan-nabe (peony hot pot). There are many other restaurants around, but thank you for the meal.

I visited Kifune Shrine, the hidden gem of Kyoto. It took about 2 and a half hours by train from Sakai City. I took the Eizan Electric Railway for the first time from Demachiyanagi to Kifune without getting off at Kifune, then walked from Kurama Temple to Kifune Shrine along a mountain path. The mountain path was cool with a nice breeze, even though it was mid-September, and the sound of cicadas added to the pleasant atmosphere. However, I ended up sweaty and tired. After leaving the west gate of Kurama Temple and walking a bit north from Kifune Shrine, a staff member at a nearby store called out to me, so I decided to stop by. It was my first experience dining by the river. I didn't know that dining by the river could be so wonderful. It was actually cool, and the sound of the river was fantastic. Is this what they call paradise? I now want to visit this place every few years. There are about 12 tables by the river, mostly for two people, but even solo visitors like me could use them depending on the time. I visited on a weekday at 11 am when it was not crowded, which is why I was able to get a table. Actually, I had tried to make a reservation by phone at this restaurant two days before, but I was told that I couldn't make a reservation alone, so I was disappointed that I couldn't visit. I was glad to be able to dine there without a reservation. I ordered the riverbed cuisine for 7,150 yen. I think this is a special price only available on weekdays. It seems like a great deal around here. The large beer was 1,100 yen, which may be a bit pricey, but that's how it is in places like this. Being able to enjoy a cold beer with the river flowing in the background was unforgettable. The riverbed cuisine for 7,150 yen was a standard kaiseki meal. The sashimi was delicious, the grilled ayu fish was cooked perfectly, and the fried yamame fish was freshly fried. Overall, I think it was delicious in a normal way. The price was reasonable. The restroom was in the main building and clean. On the way back, I took a bus from a bus stop a few minutes' walk from Kifune Shrine and returned to Demachiyanagi on the Eizan Electric Railway. It was a special and wonderful time.

The reservation starts from a 7150 yen menu, with a fixed time slot. Even though we arrived 20 minutes early, they kindly seated us without any issues. It was my first time at a riverside restaurant, and the atmosphere was full of negative ions. The portion of the food was generous. We were a group of three drinkers, and we felt like maybe an additional 1000 yen per person would be fair considering the pace of the dishes. I strongly felt that dining at a riverside restaurant is a must in Kyoto during the summer.

I am "Noronori", mainly exploring lunch spots around Sakai. August is a busy season and it was difficult to get a reservation at the riverside restaurants, but I finally managed to book one for 1:30 pm. The restaurant offers a shuttle service, but due to heavy traffic, I decided to take a bus (170 yen) from the station, as driving to Kibune is not recommended. The weather was great on the day of my visit, perfect for dining by the riverside. The kaiseki meal in the refreshing atmosphere with negative ions was amazing. The dishes were served at a faster pace than usual, maybe because of the busy schedule or the Kibune style. It's nice to escape from the "everyday" and enjoy such a meal occasionally. The restaurant kindly drove me back to the station. The hostess was lovely. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located about 2 km from Kibuneguchi Station, this restaurant is on the way from Kifune Shrine Honden to Okumiya. If you take the bus, it's a 5-minute ride from Kibuneguchi Station bus stop to Kifune bus stop. For reservations, a shuttle service is available for groups of 2 or more from Kibuneguchi Station, and for groups of 10 or more from Kokusaikaikan Station. I finally got to visit "Kibune Chaya," a place I've always wanted to go to, and was able to reserve a lunch on the riverside. I enjoyed the lunch-only course for 7,150 yen, which included "appetizers," "sashimi," "simmered dish," "grilled ayu fish," "sweetfish tempura," "somen noodles," "red miso soup," "rice," "pickles," and "dessert." I was surprised by the elegant taste of the sesame tofu in the appetizer, and the grilled ayu fish, which I had been looking forward to, was very delicious. Each dish had a refined Kyoto flavor, and I was very satisfied with the great value course. It's a wonderful restaurant with excellent service, and I would love to visit it again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Visited during the riverbed dining season. The landlady's friendly and attentive service makes for a pleasant stay. Prices for courses start at 7,300 yen, which is reasonable for Kibune. The food is a bit ??? for the price, but considering that the cost is mainly for the view at Kibune's riverbed dining, it's unfair to expect great value or taste. Rather, being able to enjoy a leisurely lunch at a Kibune riverbed dining establishment for this price is quite valuable.

On the final day of the three-day weekend in July, the narrow mountain roads were unexpectedly congested due to the peak season holiday traffic. Despite the busy atmosphere, the innkeeper and staff members greeted us with smiles and provided excellent service! It had been a while since I last visited a riverside dining area, and even though it was hot and humid, there was a cool breeze occasionally coming through the sound of the river. Fortunately, we were able to enjoy the day without any rain. The shuttle service from Kibune Station for the holiday lunch at 7,150 yen was a great deal. There are other dining establishments nearby with slightly cheaper courses, but it seems like they do not offer shuttle services.

I had been interested in Kibune's riverside dining for a while. Even though it was around 35 degrees on flat ground, Kibune is located in the mountains, and the temperature felt around 25 degrees on the river, making it very cool and with a fantastic location!! The lunch was quite expensive at ¥7,150, but it was a very valuable experience, so I was very satisfied! The food was also delicious! ※When going with a girl you are interested in, the sound of the river flowing can be quite loud, so talk in a loud voice and let the negative ions heal you both!

I arrived at Kibune. There were many riverside dining platforms, but they were all fully booked for the day. However, I was able to get a seat early as it became available. Yay, my first riverside dining experience this year! Going down the stairs, I entered a lovely space where I could feel the soothing sound of the river right next to me. My excitement went up! I chose the lunch course for 7150 yen. Despite the stairs, the staff were skilled and provided seamless service and serving. Since the explanation was verbal, my memory is a bit fuzzy, but the course included sesame tofu, sashimi, simmered dish, grilled ayu, tempura of young sweetfish, somen noodles, a main dish with red miso soup, and fruit for dessert. I didn't take a photo of the last part. I had the impression that such places cater more to tourists and might not be very authentic, but everything was surprisingly well-prepared, beautifully presented, and tasted like Kyoto. It was nice to have the first ayu of the year. I also enjoyed dipping my feet in the cool stream under the tatami mat. A delightful Kyoto kaiseki experience by the riverside in Kibune. Thank you for the meal.

The deciding factors for choosing the riverside dining at Kibune for the first time were: the friendliness of the staff and the reasonable prices. I opted for the 5500 yen course featuring grilled ayu with salt. The taste was great, but the unique atmosphere of dining by the river was the highlight. The sunshade blocking the hot sun, the sound of the flowing river underneath, delicious food, and a great experience overall. ♫

After visiting the Okumiya of Kifune Shrine, we were lured into this restaurant by the proprietress. It seems that they have gone through a lot in the past two years, as the cafe-like shop that was here before has closed down. For lunch today, we had the Yudofu set meal. The appetizer was miso-marinated tofu and boiled rapeseed, elegantly presented. The simmered dish consisted of taro, watercress, and fried wheat gluten. The fried dish was seasonal vegetable tempura. The main dish was delicious Yudofu made with water from Kifune. For dessert, we had coconut pudding. The weather was nice, and the dragonflies were flying energetically. We were seated by the window, so we could enjoy our meal while listening to the sound of the waterfall.

I visited Kifune Shrine for autumn leaves and had Yudofu. I couldn't go last year, so this year it was crowded due to the season. I went early as recommended by the staff, so there was no waiting time. The riverside shops tend to get crowded, so I always go early. For some reason, the menu only had Yudofu set meal for 3,850 yen. It included appetizers, tempura, rice, pickles, and soup. It was delicious. By the time I left, it was getting lively. Thank you for the meal.

After overcoming a disaster, the riverside restaurant reopened after 3 years. Despite the hardships, the cheerful landlady warmly welcomed us with a smile, even though we only visit once a year. The riverside dining experience was very cool and enjoyable.

First summer drinking party. The plan by Keihan includes transportation costs and lunch vouchers from Demachiyanagi Station to Kibune, as well as a fortune from Kibune Shrine for 9900 yen. Every year, the summer drinking party in Kyoto is held at "yuka". However, due to the influence of Corona, we thought we might be able to do "kawadoko" this year, so we changed the destination to Kibune in the north of Kyoto. The difference in terms is something you can look up on your own. People from Kyoto will immediately be interested in this topic. From Demachiyanagi Station, take the train to Ichihara Station, then take a bus to Kibune Station as it is currently suspended. We thought it would be empty, but there are quite a few customers. So, it is recommended to take actions with some margin when going. It is not recommended to use a car as the roads are narrow and parking spaces are limited. For today's lunch, we had: appetizer, boiled zucchini, simmered sea bream and salmon, winter melon, burdock, small taro, red leaf wheat gluten, grilled ayu with salt, deep-fried thistle with vinegar, deep-fried eel, cold noodles, rice, red miso soup, pickles, and dessert. In the past (a long time ago), the sashimi used to be carp but changed to sea bream and salmon due to Koi herpes, which is very disappointing. I have never heard of anyone who likes carp sashimi, but personally, it is a favorite delicacy of mine. When I mentioned to others that I had such a lunch, they said, "Is it all for 10,000 yen?" and "Will it really fill you up?" Osaka people really care about cost performance. Indeed. If you go to USJ and wait for over two hours in the heat with tired children to go to the attraction you were looking forward to, I would suggest not doing that. For a short trip to create summer memories, isn't it just right? Those with big cars with Osaka license plates... it's a shame. Maybe it's not good to be taken advantage of.

I visited a riverside dining restaurant to enjoy the ayu salt-grilled dish, which was delicious and can be eaten whole. There were many dishes to enjoy, and the atmosphere of dining by the river was fantastic. Although it was a bit pricey, I plan to visit a new restaurant in Kibune every year to conquer all the riverside dining establishments.

On July 29, 2017, I visited Kibune for summer retreat once again. This year, I used the riverside terrace at Kibune Chaya. The restaurant offers a shuttle service to and from Kibuneguchi Station, which is very convenient for tourists. We arrived smoothly at the restaurant from the station. The weather was perfect that day, ideal for dining by the river. The food tasted exceptional as we enjoyed the coolness of the clear stream. Eating the same dishes inside the restaurant probably wouldn't evoke the same feelings.

I recently became a working adult and wanted to enjoy a traditional Japanese meal, so I decided to visit Kibune. I really like the atmosphere of Kibune, especially because it is right above the river. I had a kaiseki lunch there. It was still a bit chilly as it was the beginning of the Golden Week holiday, but it added to the pleasant memories of my visit.
