I came to Kyoto for the first time on business and was taken here by a senior colleague, and I can only say it was amazing! The traditional atmosphere, enjoying kaiseki cuisine on a riverside platform said to only be available until the end of September, while sipping on sake, was a truly wonderful experience!

I visited during the Bon period. This shop is located near the inner shrine. It is reasonably priced for a riverside dining establishment. They open at 10:30 am and start serving meals at 11 am, so I ordered a drink first. Seating is free. An additional 500 yen is required for cafe-only seating. The view is amazing. The ayu dishes were delicious. The only downside was that the beer was warm. Other than that, it was good.

"I experienced the riverbed dining in Kibune, something that every Japanese person should try at least once! I visited the famous restaurant "Sagen" which is more affordable compared to its sister restaurant "Ugen" where the average customer spends 11,000 yen. Sagen offers shaved ice starting at 600 yen, making it a more budget-friendly option. The reason for the affordability is that they use disposable dishes and provide self-service water, maintaining a casual style without compromising on the quality of the food. The bento box comes with 25 different side dishes, each with a unique flavor, ensuring a diverse and enjoyable dining experience. The wild boar rice bowl had a tough texture similar to beef jerky but was well-seasoned like sukiyaki, covering the taste with delicious flavors. The shaved ice had a traditional Showa-era syrup, but the ice itself was sourced from Kibune, making it exceptionally tasty. The chrysanthemum dish was visually appealing, and the sweetfish lemon sushi was refreshing and tasty. Personally, the highlight was the grilled sweetfish, cooked to order, juicy with a good balance of fishy bitterness, umami, and fat, without any unpleasant smell. The restaurant is located in an elevated position in Kibune with ample seating, so there is usually no need to wait long. I look forward to visiting again!"

It's so cool! Natural air conditioning! I waited for 30 minutes, but it was worth it. I listened to the murmuring of the river and felt healed. The tofu rice bowl I had was elegant and delicious. The kaiseki bento was visually pleasing and allowed me to enjoy a variety of flavors in small portions. It was a luxurious bento box experience.

After visiting the Okumiya of Kifune Shrine, I stopped by for a bite to eat. This was my second time at the riverside cafe. I ordered the fried ayu fish. You order at the entrance and then pick up your food. The riverside seating is cool and the sound of flowing water is soothing. It's a weekday between the rainy season, so it's not crowded. Lucky me! When the bell rang, I went to pick up my food. It's a bit like a food court, but the quality of the food is great! I never knew fried ayu fish bones could be so delicious! Even though it was just one dish, I was extremely satisfied. Thank you for the meal. Despite being far away, I feel like coming back to Kifune.

In front of Kifune Shrine, head to the riverside dining area of Sagetaya. The 25-color bento boxes are beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. I recommend trying the salt-grilled ayu fish as well! How about a lovely Kyoto date here?

I visited Sagendo, located at the upper reaches of Kifune River, for a riverside dining experience in May 2023. Sagendo is a stylish restaurant offering both riverside dining and a chic riverside café. I ordered the 25-color bento box, grilled ayu, and fried ayu. They also have options like yuba rice bowl and wild boar rice bowl. The prices are reasonable. After the meal, I enjoyed a cream soda at the café. They also offer Kifune water shaved ice, cheesecake, soft serve ice cream, and various soft drinks. It's a great place to enjoy cool riverside dining and café experience in the refreshing atmosphere of Kifune during summer.

On weekends, many riverside terrace seats were fully booked, so we ended up using the available riverside cafe. I had the wild boar bowl. It was a bit pricey, but I guess you're paying for the atmosphere of the riverside terrace. The wild boar was easy to eat, and it reminded me of pork bowl. The egg on top goes well with it. Sitting on a green mat by the Kibune River, with simple tables and chairs for self-service, I could enjoy the riverside terrace mood. Next time, I'll make a reservation in advance and try some proper dishes.

Choose from a variety of riverbed dishes: - 25 types of colorful bento boxes for 3,990 yen - Grilled salted ayu (sweetfish) for 1,100 yen - Yuba (tofu skin) rice bowl for 1,500 yen - Boar meat rice bowl for 1,650 yen. If you prefer just the cafe menu, there is a seating fee of 500 yen. Enjoy items like Kifune's shaved ice for 600-800 yen, cream soda for 700 yen, cheesecake for 750 yen (drink set for 1,150 yen), soft serve ice cream for 400 yen, and soft drinks for 500-600 yen. It's quite affordable to relax and enjoy a meal or tea time here! Highly recommended for a grown-up outing!

I was determined to have lunch in a yukata at a riverside terrace in Kyoto, so I found this restaurant where they offer dressing service in front of Kyoto Station and provide a shuttle bus to the restaurant. The food, including the somen noodles, was all delicious, and my dream plan came true, making me very happy!

Last weekend, I visited Kyoto, Osaka, and Wakayama for a trip, hoping to have a special meal that I can't experience in Okinawa. I decided to visit "Kyoto Kifune Sagami" for that purpose. However, while Okinawa has already entered the rainy season, the rain in this area only intensified as time passed. On top of that, the temperature was only 19 degrees Celsius! It felt like Okinawa's winter. Due to the weather, we couldn't dine on the riverside terrace as planned. Instead, we were seated in a room overlooking the terrace. Overall, the atmosphere of the restaurant, both inside and outside, was excellent. The food mainly consisted of dishes that gave a sense of coolness, but it was hard to judge accurately in the 19-degree weather. I rated it as average for now. The disappointing part was the level of education among the staff. Were they high school students working part-time? They seemed to lack knowledge. I wonder if there was a manager or full-time staff in charge of the dining area. I had heard that this was a famous restaurant, but I was left wondering.

I joined a bus tour to eat the long-awaited Kibune Riverbed cuisine at Nomiya. The restaurant had just reopened after being affected by a typhoon, and the view of the mountains and trees from Kibune was unbelievable. Despite the high temperature in Kyoto that day, the riverbed was cool and the breeze felt really refreshing. The left and right Genta were large and well-serviced restaurants with delicious food. However, I don't have the confidence to drive on those narrow roads, so I think I'll stick to bus tours or trains for my next visit.

When I came to Kyoto Prefecture for a company trip, I tried "Kawadoko cuisine" for the first time! It felt a bit out of my league, but since I was there, I enjoyed the dishes that kept coming with "apricot soda mix." Everything I ate was really delicious! If I have a chance to visit Kyoto Prefecture again, I would love to go back. Thank you for the meal!

During my trip, I booked through Club Tourism and appreciated the pick-up service at Kyoto Station. I wanted to try Kawayuka cuisine once, so I recommend it for beginners. The food is not bad, but it is served all at once which can't be helped. Kawayuka is quite cool and enjoyable for the atmosphere. Be careful of insect bites.

This was my first time experiencing Kibune's riverside dining. I visited during the lively Gion Festival in mid-July. As I arrived at the restaurant and descended to the riverside dining area, I was greeted by a cool breeze and a wonderful atmosphere created by the red lanterns and the sound of the river. Despite the scorching heat outside, this place provided a refreshing escape from the daily heat. It's probably at least 10 degrees cooler here than in the city, so I recommend bringing an extra layer even in the middle of summer. I started with a beer and began my meal, which included a variety of dishes such as appetizers, soup, sashimi, grilled ayu fish, somen noodles, tempura, vinegared dishes, rice, and dessert. Each dish paired well with the drinks, and the meal was quite substantial. I enjoyed listening to the sound of the river while savoring the food and drinks at a leisurely pace, creating a truly luxurious experience. I wish I had more time to explore the surroundings, so I plan to visit during the day next time. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and was a delightful experience.
