Tonkatsu set lunch for 980 yen at Katsuhiro in Momoyama, Fushimi-ku! Katsuhiro is located in an area with many sake breweries and stylish shops in historic buildings. I had been curious about Katsuhiro for a while and finally got the chance to visit! I arrived around 12:40 on a weekday and the restaurant was almost full, with only seats at the counter available, so I was seated promptly as a solo diner. The staff consisted of a quiet male owner and a female staff member, who seemed to be in her 70s, working diligently and providing excellent service. About 7 minutes later, the tonkatsu set arrived, featuring crispy breaded pork cutlet, rice (mixed with barley), miso soup (possibly from a retort pouch), pickles, and sesame seeds. The female staff member kindly explained the two types of sauce - spicy and sweet. Personally, I found the spicy sauce and mustard to be a perfect combination and very delicious! The spicy sauce seemed to contain seven spices or pepper, giving it a unique flavor. The tonkatsu was delicious, but what really stood out was the excellent service provided by the female staff member. Her warm and gentle demeanor, along with the conversations I overheard from other customers, made for a cozy dining experience. I will definitely come back to be pampered again! Thank you for the meal!

This store opened in July, and every time I visit, I see signs saying "Thank you for your support on our Xth anniversary." So, I decided to go again this year. The cream croquettes take 20 minutes, so I had the large shrimp and pork cutlet first, while sipping on a beer. It's a simple taste, but I enjoyed it. This year, they didn't say "We're quitting already."

I used it for lunch. I was torn between the service menu, but I had the Big Thick Pork Cutlet Meal (1450 yen including tax). The restaurant was quite crowded, but the service was relatively quick. The pork cutlet wasn't as thick as the name suggests, but the quality of the meat was decent and it was fried well. The restaurant is run by an elderly couple, and the brisk service by the wife was impressive. The husband, though quiet, worked efficiently. I thought that this restaurant has been loved by local regular customers for a long time. I recommend it when you want to eat cost-effective tonkatsu in this area.

On a holiday in Fushimi Momoyama area, which had become a popular day trip destination, all the popular lunch spots had long lines and a wait for a table. We decided to try one of them and ordered the lunch set with one-bite pork cutlet. It seemed that the pork cutlet was sold out after we placed our order, probably due to the large number of customers that day. The set included two larger-than-bite-sized pork cutlets that you could sprinkle sesame seeds on and eat with your choice of spicy or sweet sauce. I tried both sauces, but preferred the sweet one. It wasn't the best deal, but the taste was decent and overall it was a satisfactory lunch. It turned out that curry was also a specialty of the restaurant, so maybe I should have tried that instead...

Today, I went to Fushimi Momoyama for errands and had lunch with a friend at Katsuhira. This casual tonkatsu restaurant is my third visit. My friend recommended the fried chicken, so I ordered the fried chicken set meal today. It was crispy and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I have been visiting this place for lunch recently. I feel like there was a price increase somewhat recently, but today I see that the pork cutlet set meal is 980 yen. I wasn't expecting a thick pork cutlet for lunch, but it was pretty delicious. With rice and miso soup included, it's not bad for just under 1000 yen.

I tried ordering for the first time. It costs 1300 yen for a single item. The large shrimp, thick pork cutlet, and cream croquette were all delicious. I could really taste the flavors that day. However, I felt a bit off halfway through. The batter was overcooked and slightly burnt. This was a bit disappointing.

I finally visited this place that I had been curious about since moving to Kochi. The extra-large thick roasted pork cutlet was incredibly tender, juicy, and delicious. There was a bit of an accident as the nearby coin parking lot had disappeared, but there are still a few coin parking lots scattered around this area.

I visited this place for lunch for the first time. I arrived after 2 pm and the place was empty the whole time. I sat at the counter and ordered the pork cutlet set meal for 860 yen including tax. It arrived in about 9 minutes. The pork cutlet was tender and juicy, with a nice balance of fat that added flavor. The meat was well enclosed in the crispy batter, which had a nice texture. I chose the spicy sauce, which added a good kick to the cutlet. The rice was shiny and delicious, but the portion size was a bit small. Although they mentioned no refills on the menu, I wished I could have had another helping. Overall, the simple yet high-quality tonkatsu was enjoyable. I had the most affordable set meal, but I wonder if a more expensive one would be even tastier. Next time, I might splurge a bit. Also, considering the current situation, I would appreciate it if the chef wore a mask. The CO2 monitor seemed more for show, which was a bit disappointing.

The restaurant was closed from mid-January, but it seems to have reopened on 3/18. There were more customers than usual, and many people came to confirm reunions. The tonkatsu at Ooatsu was wonderful on this day as well. It had just the right amount of fat. Please take a look for yourself. The 25th anniversary is coming soon.

I regularly visit a chiropractic clinic in Fushimi Momoyama, and I recently discovered a tonkatsu restaurant just a one-minute walk away. It's run by an elderly couple. I arrived a little before 12:00 and ordered the loin tonkatsu set at the counter. Of course, I asked for extra rice. While grinding sesame seeds in a small mortar, my meal arrived promptly. I chose the sweet sauce option and quickly dug in. The crispy texture and sweet sauce were a perfect match, and I was very satisfied! Before I knew it, I had finished everything. Now I have an additional reason to look forward to my visits to the chiropractic clinic.

On August 28, 2019, at around 11:50 AM, I visited the restaurant again to try the "Daiatsu Roast" that had caught my attention the last time. I sat at a counter seat towards the back by myself. I ordered the "Special Thick Roast Pork Cutlet Set" for 1,250 yen (tax included). After waiting for about 12 minutes, the dish was served. At first glance, it looked similar to a regular pork cutlet set. When I picked up the piece of pork cutlet and looked at the cross-section, I was surprised by how thick it was! I ground the sesame seeds in the mortar and pestle, poured the spicy pork cutlet sauce on top, and tried a bite of the thick cutlet dipped in the sauce. It was tender and had a satisfying texture, and the flavor of the meat was excellent. The breading was crispy and flavorful. While the regular pork cutlet is delicious, this thick roast pork cutlet is a whole different level in terms of texture and flavor. The meat and fat were both very tasty. The cabbage, miso soup, rice, and pickles were all delicious as well. Why didn't I try this sooner? Once you've had this, you can't go back to the regular set. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

On the hot afternoon of July 17, 2019, with the thought of indulging in some "katsu" to cool down, I visited "Katsuhiro Momoyama Store." When I entered the restaurant, almost 70% of the seats were already taken! I thought I came early, but I ended up sitting at a vacant seat at the counter. I glanced at the menu, but decided to go with my usual order, the Loin Katsu (120g) set meal for 830 yen (tax included). Since the place was quite busy, I prepared myself to wait a bit for the food to be served. As I waited, customers kept coming and going, and the place was running smoothly. After about 15 minutes of waiting, my order arrived. The Loin Katsu was fried to a firm texture, with a crispy coating and tender meat that had just the right amount of chewiness. I chose the spicy sauce, which had a miso-like richness along with the spiciness, giving a clean finish to each bite of the katsu. I topped the cabbage side dish generously with the dressing provided on the table. The rice was as delicious and fluffy as always. The miso soup, with added wheat gluten, had a slightly rich flavor that helped reset the greasiness of the fried food. The pickled radish and cabbage were also tasty. Overall, the set meal was delicious and reasonably priced at 830 yen. While I was eating, I noticed that several other customers were ordering the "Large Thick Loin Set" and "Large Thick Loin Curry." I discreetly looked at the menu book and realized that "Daitsu" meant "Large Thick" in the menu lineup. The dishes served to these customers looked impressive with a significantly larger tonkatsu on the plate! It seems like these are popular choices among regulars. I only noticed this on my visit that day. I'll have to try it out next time when I have some extra cash to spare! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

On May 28, 2019, after 12 PM, it was another hot and humid day. To change my irritable mood, I wanted to have a stimulating lunch. I decided to eat Katsu Curry! I headed to "Katsuhiro Momoyama Store". Since they reopened in April, I have been there a few times, but I had never tried their curry before. When I entered the restaurant, surprisingly there were no other guests. Maybe because it had been raining since the morning, the foot traffic was slow. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Pork Cutlet Curry" for 1060 yen (tax included). After about 10 minutes of waiting, the dish was served. The Pork Cutlet Curry was presented on a large white plate, with a generous portion of curry rice topped with a thick pork cutlet. A side of mini salad and raw egg in a small bowl were also included. The pork cutlet was substantial in size and thickness, and the pork was delicious. The curry sauce was initially sweet and flavorful, followed by a subtle spiciness that lingered. Mixing the raw egg into the rice and adding a touch of spicy tonkatsu sauce on the pork cutlet created a delicious combination of flavors in my mouth. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste of the curry. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Visited "Katsuhiro Momoyama Store" on May 7th before noon. The last time I visited was on March 15th, but the shutter was closed with a notice stating that they would be closed until the end of April. After seeing a recent review by Mairebi-san about the reopening, I decided to go right away! When I arrived at the restaurant at exactly 12 o'clock, it was not very crowded, probably because it was right after the holidays. I ordered the Lunch Special, which was the Loin Cutlet Set for 830 yen (tax included). While waiting, I overheard a conversation between the regular customers and the owner's wife about the closure period. The wife had recently been discharged from the hospital and was still recovering, but she was working hard to keep the place running. Despite this, the restaurant quickly filled up with customers. After waiting for about 11 minutes, the food was served. The Loin Cutlet was 120g, with a crispy coating and delicious pork meat. The sesame seeds and spicy sauce added a nice flavor to the dish. The side dishes included shredded cabbage and spaghetti with ketchup. The pickles and miso soup were tasty, and the rice was fluffy and delicious. It had been about a month and a half since I last had the Loin Cutlet Set at Katsuhiro, and it was still as delicious as ever. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I heard that the restaurant reopened on May 1st and decided to visit during the opening. It was a place where classical music was playing. I ordered the pork cutlet set meal, but it looked more like a pork loin cutlet. Nowadays, many places serve a chunky piece of loin, so this was quite unusual. The cutlet was crispy, but the breadcrumbs were on the larger side. When I cut it open, I noticed a yellow ring of egg inside the coating, which brought back nostalgic memories. The cutlet was thin and tender, more suitable for older customers perhaps. They offered two types of sauce, a spicy one blended with ginger and a typical sweet tonkatsu sauce. I tried both, and I think they were both good. You can choose according to your preference. I mixed the sauce with some ground sesame seeds. The rice had a small amount of barley mixed in, making it healthier. The miso soup seemed a bit like instant soup, which was my only minor complaint. This classic pork cutlet may receive mixed reviews, depending on personal preferences. Since I prefer a chunkier cutlet, I felt a bit lacking in the satisfaction of eating loin. The impression might have been quite different if I had chosen the pork loin instead. I believe this restaurant is well-regarded locally. About half of the customers were elderly neighbors who seemed to be regulars at the restaurant.

I was able to take a break for over a month. When I passed by, it looked like the restaurant had reopened. They were preparing and I talked to the wife. I'm excited to be able to eat that large and thick tonkatsu again. Maybe I'll go for the premium selection this time. So, I visited after the consecutive holidays. It wasn't crowded even on a Friday night. The wife seemed a bit uncomfortable on her feet, but her smile was just like before. The female service staff that I often see was there too. The owner seemed a bit quiet. I ordered the premium tonkatsu. It tasted the same as before, and I felt relieved.

On November 6, 2018, around 12:00 pm, I decided to visit a restaurant that I had not been to in about ten years. I was in the area for work and suddenly had a craving for something I hadn't had in a long time, so I walked into "Tonkatsu & Curry Restaurant Katsuhiro Momoyama Branch". When I entered the restaurant a little after 12:00 pm, it was almost full, but luckily there was one empty seat at the back of the counter. I ordered the "Rosukatsu Set Meal" for 830 yen (tax included) from the lunch menu. The kitchen was run by the owner and the front of the house by the proprietress, and they were quite busy. Despite feeling a bit anxious about my upcoming meeting at 1:00 pm, I was served in about 17 minutes. A generous portion of Rosukatsu was placed on the plate. The owner personally brought two pots of tonkatsu sauce and explained, "The black one is spicy and the red one is sweet." I ground some sesame seeds in a small mortar, poured the spicy sauce on top, and enjoyed the crispy and fluffy tonkatsu. The meat was tender and flavorful. The spicy sauce had a kick to it, but it wasn't overly spicy. The rice, cooked with pressed barley, was deliciously fluffy. The miso soup with tofu, seaweed, and green onions was tasty, and the pickles were daikon radish and cabbage. The restaurant was constantly busy with customers coming and going. I was very satisfied after finishing my meal. I will definitely come back regularly in the future. Thank you for the wonderful meal! ♡♡♡♡
