I added Kujo green onions and grated yam to the Uji matcha zaru udon. It costs 850 yen + 90 yen + 150 yen. The staff member speaking Kyoto dialect was nice. The menu highlights more expensive items, so it's good to carefully choose from the menu. The broth is lightly flavored in the Kansai style, so you can enjoy it without diluting it. It seems like there is no salt added.

Duck and Kujo green onion Uji matcha udon for ¥1540 (tax included). The seating is in a semi-private style, making it a relaxing place for tourists. The udon uses Kyoto-produced duck and has matcha kneaded into the noodles. The broth is flavorful and overall very delicious.

Anago tempura matcha udon for 1628 yen. Half portion of dashimaki for 286 yen, served cold. The matcha udon has a chewy texture with a subtle matcha aroma. The anago tempura is thick and firm, offering a strong bounce. The matcha salt was a bit diluted. I wish there was some tempura dipping sauce. The dashimaki was soaked in a flavorful broth.

I was looking for a place to have lunch near the station on a weekday afternoon, but it seems like many shops around here are closed on Thursdays... The restaurant I wanted to go to was closed too, I wonder why (´・з・`) Anyway, I decided to go to an udon restaurant where I could have a quick meal. The interior of the restaurant was clean, with tables that could accommodate 6-8 people, probably designed for larger groups because it's a tourist area. Personally, I wanted a counter seat (´-`). I decided to try the Uji matcha udon since I was in Uji! [Hamo tempura and Uji matcha zaru] The udon was a beautiful green color, thin and with a square cross-section. The surface was chewy and had a good texture! It had a subtle saltiness. I couldn't really taste the matcha flavor! (;・д・) The hamo tempura looked like a fritter, but it was crispy and well-fried, and the hamo bones were also cut well. The bone crackers had a crunchy texture and were delicious! The service was polite, but the pricing seemed to target tourists, making it less suitable for regular visits. Thank you for the meal!

In the midst of the steamy rainy season, feeling exhausted after visiting Sanjusangendo Temple and Byodoin Temple, I stumbled upon this restaurant in the shopping street before evening. The tempting display of crispy tempura anago and vibrant green matcha udon set caught my eye! The poster also featured a photo of a large dashimaki tamago-topped tofu mentaiko matcha udon, which was equally appealing, but I opted for the kake matcha udon with gobo tempura set! (They also have white udon! No soba!) Despite my initial interest in the cold zaru udon, the cool air inside the restaurant felt refreshing, so I went with the warm udon! The staff were friendly and served the food promptly. While the matcha udon didn't have a strong tea flavor as expected, the smooth and chewy noodles quickly disappeared into my stomach! I also ordered the dashimaki tamago, which had a gentle and fluffy taste without soy sauce. It was a comforting treat for my tired body...! Near Uji Station, there are many tea shops and dessert shops, but I was looking for something gentle on the stomach like this! This udon was a satisfying meal for my exhausted body and soul! Thank you for the delicious meal♪

At Nakamura Seimen located on the main street between JR Uji Station and Keihan Uji Station, I had the Dashi Tamago Don and Niku-sui Teishoku. The rice topped with thick rolled omelette and flavorful Niku-sui broth complement each other well. This unique style is quite rare and worth trying.

I had Matcha soy milk soup tea udon with Mentaiko dashi tamagoyaki on top. The Matcha flavor was not too strong, just a hint of fragrance. I have had tea soba before, but tea udon was a first for me, and it was more filling compared to soba. The Mentaiko dashi tamagoyaki on top was delicious, with the Mentaiko and dashi blending perfectly. There were many other items on the menu, so I would like to visit this restaurant again if I have the chance.

Let's eat sweets with my mother at Uji Station. We happened to find this udon restaurant nearby and decided to have an impromptu lunch at an odd hour. The last order was at 3 o'clock, so we made it just in time. The restaurant had a bright atmosphere with spacious seating, and I was pleased to find power outlets at the tables. It's convenient and thoughtful for tourists. I debated between the dashimaki tamago and matcha udon, but ended up choosing the curry udon with shrimp tempura. The curry udon was served in a separate dish, which I liked. It was delicious, exceeding my expectations. The udon noodles had a nice texture and were tasty. In Kyoto, udon noodles are often soft, so this was a unique find. I look forward to trying the dashimaki tamago next time. Thank you for the meal! ♡

I felt like eating something light and decided to try this udon restaurant I passed by. Even though it's an udon restaurant, I was intrigued by the menu offering dashimaki tamago donburi and nikomi set. The prices were around 850 yen for the udon main dish and 880 yen for the nikomi and dashimaki tamago donburi set. I wondered if they were small portions, but to my surprise, both dishes were served in decent-sized bowls. The nikomi had a bit less meat but plenty of broth, and the dashimaki tamago in the donburi was delicious! It's not often that dashimaki tamago looks good but tastes disappointing, but this one was really tasty. It was great with a little soy sauce on top and also when dipped in the nikomi broth. I was very satisfied with my impromptu choice of this restaurant!

Today, my family and I visited this udon restaurant located on Ujihashi Street, near JR Nara Line Uji Station. The restaurant is a traditional tea house and stylish cafe, with a clean and cozy atmosphere inside. The menu offers a variety of udon dishes, toppings, rice bowls, and drinks. I ordered the Udon Restaurant's Negi Dashi Maki Don and Niku Sui Teishoku, while my family ordered the Uji Matcha Udon with Ebi Tempura topping. The Uji Matcha Udon had a vibrant green color and a chewy texture, with a subtle matcha flavor. The Negi Dashi Maki Don was a generous portion of egg omelette on rice, while the Niku Sui had a delicious beef and dashi broth. Overall, the dishes were homely and comforting, perfect for families with children. The private seating and relaxed atmosphere make it a great place to dine. The service was excellent. Recommended for a casual meal.

From tomorrow, it will be a 4-day weekend in autumn, but the street in front of Uji Station is still quiet. It looks like it might rain, but it doesn't. In the humid weather, I stopped by this restaurant for a meal before work. I was thinking of having cold udon for a refreshing meal, but then I noticed the "Dashimaki Don and Niku-sui Set" on the menu. It costs 800 yen without tax. It seemed healthy and a good source of protein, so I decided to order it. The table was for 4 people, but it was like a private room, cramped but cozy. After a while, my order arrived. It looked like they probably used 3 eggs for the dashimaki, which was served in a bowl with rice. I had asked for less rice, so the bowl was overflowing with the dashimaki. The niku-sui was also plentiful, cooked in udon broth and topped with green onions. I sprinkled some shichimi spice and enjoyed the meal. The dashimaki was juicier than I expected, but I managed to finish it all. I gave up on the rice halfway through because the portion was quite generous. It seemed like most people around were having noodle dishes for lunch, so this place could be a good option when you feel like having rice.

On a crowded holiday in Kyoto Uji sightseeing, we decided to have lunch before heading to Byodoin Temple. We chose Hanare Nakamura Seimen, a restaurant located on the main street with many good-looking options. After a short wait, we were seated. The interior of the restaurant mainly consists of private rooms, providing a calm dining experience. The young staff members were efficient and provided pleasant service. We started with a matcha beer, which surprisingly complemented the beer well with its matcha flavor. We ordered the Uji matcha set (Uji matcha udon + matcha tempura) with shrimp tempura topping for 1140 yen. The matcha udon had a tea-colored appearance due to the incorporation of matcha, and although we didn't have high expectations, the udon had a good texture and flavor that matched well with the matcha. The shrimp tempura was also delicious. However, the necessity of matcha in the tempura was not quite evident. My companion tried the recommended Kyoto duck nanban udon for 1180 yen, which featured duck in a Kyoto-style dashi broth. The quality of the udon was high, and the dish was a hit. I was initially skeptical about the Uji matcha udon made using Uji's specialty matcha, as regional dishes can be hit or miss, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of execution and left satisfied. The restaurant's ambiance and service were impeccable.

The interior of the shop is somewhat small, but it has a clean and inviting atmosphere. There are many menu options, making it easy for families to dine here. It's a popular place, so there may be some wait time, but we left satisfied. I would like to visit again when I come back to Uji.

I had the Toroyuba Mentaiko and seared sasami bukkake udon. It was delicious with the smooth toroyuba, spicy mentaiko, and tender rare sasami on top of firm udon noodles soaked in flavorful broth. It was great to enjoy it in a private room, making it a relaxing experience!

The nights in Uji are early. I hurried to enter the restaurant after hearing that the last order on Sundays is at 9 pm when I called. I made sure that it was okay to order just udon. The menu seemed a bit pricey. I underestimated the portion size for the evening, but the meat udon (980 yen + tax) had a lot of noodles and ingredients. I avoided getting the large size, which turned out to be a good decision. The noodles had a good texture and the light flavor made it enjoyable. The topping of Kujo green onions (70 yen + tax) was also a nice touch. I'll try other toppings on my next visit.

"Hanare Nakamura Seimen" is a popular udon restaurant located near JR Nara Line Uji Station, making it a great stop during a stroll in Uji. Skilled artisans take their time to carefully boil the udon noodles, resulting in a smooth and glossy texture. You can enjoy these udon noodles with the restaurant's special Kyoto dashi broth, known for its dedication to quality. Don't miss out on the "Kyoto onion overload" dish!

Within a 5-minute walk from Uji Station. I stopped by for a light meal and the place looked nice from the outside. I ordered sashimi and oyster fry. The tartar sauce was probably homemade and light and easy to eat. When they brought me a draft beer, they made sure the label was facing me. It felt very thoughtful. Thank you for the meal.

I had tea udon and zaru udon. At first, I tried them without any toppings. There was a hint of tea flavor, which was nice. The noodles had a smooth and refreshing texture. Following the recommendation of the staff, I also ordered dashimaki tamago, which turned out to be unexpectedly delicious. While Uji has plenty of options for sweets, I found choosing a lunch spot a bit challenging.

The meat sushi has a bonito flavor with a hint of acidity, which is nice. The meat has a good texture, and the more you chew, the more flavor comes out. The rolled omelette with crunchy green onions has an elegant taste. The rice is cooked just right with a hint of sweetness. The meat sushi rice bowl is perfectly balanced.

After getting off at Uji Station, I found a udon restaurant among a row of shops. I had the Chicken Breast Tempura Set for 880 yen. The crispy chicken breast tempura and chewy udon noodles were delicious. I enjoyed my meal leisurely in a relaxed atmosphere.
