Kuzukiri for 1,080 yen ━━━━━━━━━━ Cafe Kyoto Arashiyama (Saga Arashiyama) on Tabelog 3.39 *As of August 13, 2023 ━━━━━━━━━━ When was the last time I had kuzukiri? Come to think of it, have I ever had it in my life before? (I've had kuzumochi, but I don't think I've had kuzukiri) So you eat it with black honey, huh, I see. My first impression after trying it is, well, if you were to say "this is how it tastes," I guess that's fine, but since the taste of kuzu is quite mild, I feel like it could use a bit more flavor. The sight of ice floating in it looks refreshing and gives off a nice Japanese summer vibe. The atmosphere inside the store is modern Japanese style and beautiful. The service from the staff is also good. The shaved ice that other customers were ordering looked very delicious. ^ ^

I went on a soccer watching trip to Kyoto! On August 6, 2023 (Sunday) in Arashiyama. The city was bustling with many foreign tourists. The stadium is located at Kameoka Station, and I had purchased a ticket for the famous Torokko train in advance to head towards the stadium. I arrived in Arashiyama earlier than my reservation time, crossed the Togetsukyo Bridge, and planned to do some sightseeing, but it was quite hot that day, so I sought refuge in a nearby shop. It turned out to be a hidden gem of a restaurant. I had some delicious negiyaki (green onion pancake). It was large and tasty, with ingredients like konjac mixed in, giving it a unique and delicious taste reminiscent of my mom's cooking. The shaved ice with white balls was also great.

I wanted to eat my first shaved ice of the year, so I decided to come here on a whim. Luckily, I only had to wait a few minutes before being seated inside the restaurant. It was my first time trying roasted green tea shaved ice, and it was delicious with a unique sweetness from the honey. It really made me feel like summer...

I ordered yuzu tea with vanilla ice cream topped with white bean paste and my wife ordered green tea float with matcha ice cream topped with white bean paste. We both don't usually like black honey, so we didn't pour it on at first. However, when we finally tried it, we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. My wife ended up pouring all of it on and was amazed at how tasty the black honey was. The homemade bean paste was also very delicious, and the staff's service was excellent. It was a memorable experience at this restaurant.

I was a little hungry, so I headed to this place. There were long lines everywhere, but this one was tolerable. I waited for about 30 minutes. I had some negiyaki, but the sauce was too sweet. It wasn't that big, and I got a bit tired of it towards the end. I was planning to have Japanese sweets elsewhere, so I held back.

Near Togetsukyo Bridge, there is a shop that offers sweets and negiyaki. It is located in a small alley just off the main street of Arashiyama. Their popular "Three Color Warabi" is made with domestically sourced black bracken and carefully crafted into a caramel-colored homemade warabi mochi. You can also enjoy a comparison of three flavors: premium kinako, hojicha kinako, and matcha kinako. The texture is delightfully soft and chewy, with a perfect balance of flavors. The matcha kinako has a subtle bitterness that pairs well with the elegant sweetness of the wagashi. In addition to these, they offer a variety of Kyoto-style sweets that reflect the essence of the city. They also have a selection of drinks perfect for a break during your stroll in Arashiyama. The modern Japanese interior allows you to relax and enjoy the view of the garden outside. During my visit, I ordered the Three Color Warabi for 780 yen and the "Ousu" set with wagashi for 900 yen. I had a leisurely time savoring these treats while admiring the greenery in the garden.

Near Togetsukyo Bridge, there is a sweet and negiyaki (green onion pancake) shop✨Located in a side street just off the main street of Arashiyama, this traditional Japanese sweets shop is a must-visit when in Kyoto. I always have their specialty Saga negiyaki, but this time I tried their Japanese sweets. The popular "Mishiro Warabi" is a homemade warabi mochi made with domestically sourced black warabi. You can try three varieties: special kinako, hojicha kinako, and matcha kinako. The texture is soft and chewy, absolutely delightful. The "Ousu" with a subtle bitterness of matcha pairs perfectly with the elegant sweetness of the wagashi. In addition to these, they offer a variety of unique Japanese sweets that reflect the essence of Kyoto, as well as a selection of drinks perfect for a break during your Arashiyama stroll. The modern Japanese interior allows you to relax and enjoy the view of the garden outside. This is a recommended dessert spot in Arashiyama, so be sure to check it out! It's Hetare Samba Garasu signing off✨✨ 《Menu Ordered》 - Mishiro Warabi 780 yen - Ousu (with wagashi) 900 yen

The main street was crowded everywhere and it was hard to find a place to go in, but I found a nice Japanese cafe on a side street. The cafe had a cozy atmosphere and a small garden in the back which was very relaxing. I tried three different flavors of mochi which were soft and delicious.

There were 7 types of shaved ice available, but I tried the most popular one called "Inaka Ice." It is based on "kinako syrup" with toppings of "shiratama" and "anko." The kinako syrup sold in the store is delicious. They also offer "negiyaki" as a meal option, which is slightly sweet and perfect for a light lunch. The entrance is narrow but the interior is spacious, with a view of the courtyard. The restaurant is conveniently located near the station, making it a great spot for a break during sightseeing.

After walking around Arashiyama and feeling tired, I took a break at a small village in Arashiyama. I stumbled upon this place while avoiding the crowds by walking down a back street. The three-color warabi set includes homemade warabi mochi and matcha tea. The staff were very polite and the atmosphere was comfortable. It was a welcoming place even for solo male travelers.

I ordered negiyaki for takeout! It had various fillings inside (like konnyaku and chikuwa) and was quite voluminous. By the time I got back to my inn, it had cooled down, and since there was no microwave, I couldn't reheat it. However, even cold, it was delicious. It would make a great side dish for drinks.

Kyoto ochauke set 900 yen~ situation~ I arrived on Saturday around 3:15 pm. Waited for about 15 minutes before entering. Since I ordered in advance, the food came quickly~ couple points~ shareable. Good for a break~ taste etc.~ You can write your name on the waiting list and sit down to wait. (for 2 groups) The waiting time is written as 5 minutes per group, but it was not the case. However, the turnover was surprisingly fast. 3 types of sweets and a drink for this price in a tourist area is cost-effective~ other points of interest~ Accepts PayPay and credit cards. Clean toilet.

When I went to Arashiyama during cherry blossom season, I found this Kyoto-style cafe. It's a hidden gem in Arashiyama that serves traditional Japanese sweets. The "Sakura Hitohira" dessert costs ¥1,150 and comes with matcha. The desserts are cute in appearance and make you feel warm and content. The ice cream with a taste similar to sakura mochi is incredibly delicious. The shiratama (white rice cake) is smooth and chewy, providing a delightful texture. The kuzumochi was unexpectedly delicious. I was happy that it came with matcha. I was worried about not being able to get a seat, so I went right when it opened. As expected, it was almost full shortly after. The partitions on the tables made it a bit cramped and difficult to take good photos. Also, the sunlight reflecting off the partitions made it hard to have a conversation with my companion (haha). I wish I could have stayed longer, as the atmosphere was nice and the sweets were delicious. I hope to try a different menu item next time I visit.

I knew of this shop in Arashiyama where you can order negiyaki to go, and I happened to come across it while taking a stroll in Arashiyama, so I decided to visit. I ordered the negiyaki right away. They only had canned beer, no draft beer. Since there were two of us, they cut the negiyaki in half before serving it. I was expecting the deliciousness of Kyoto leeks, but the leeks were surprisingly ordinary? The taste was refined and delicious.

When I went to Arashiyama, I found a nice little shop tucked away. My stomach was growling and I was drawn in by a photo of negiyaki. I ordered the negiyaki and got to enjoy the freshly grilled, fluffy dish with plenty of green onions inside. It was delicious! Unlike okonomiyaki, it was light and easy to eat, so I found myself finishing it quickly without even realizing. I love the sweet and savory sauce too. It wasn't crowded on weekdays, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal!

This is a modern and quietly located shop off the beaten path. When you enter the shop, there is a window in front with a garden that looks like a piece of art. It's a cozy place where you can take a breather. This time, I had some negiyaki (green onion pancake). The sauce was light and the ingredients were varied and delicious. If this shop were nearby, I would definitely become a regular customer.

Rest at "Arashiyama no Mura"! This day, my family went on a trip to Arashiyama. We enjoyed riding the trolley in the morning, eating hamburgers, and having a stylish lunch. After touring in the scorching heat, we were exhausted and decided to take a break at a shop near the Arashiyama Randen Station called "Arashiyama no Mura". The sign said "Sagano's Negiyaki Sweet Shop". I couldn't help but be intrigued by the negiyaki! The warm and inviting atmosphere inside the shop, with a Kyoto townhouse-like backyard visible, was very soothing. There were also some small souvenirs for sale. We ordered the "Tanbo Ice - Kiwami" for 1300 yen, which was a must-have in the intense heat. The fluffy and airy ice had a fantastic melt-in-your-mouth texture. We could add black bean kinako syrup, sweet red bean paste, and hot shiratama rice cakes as toppings ourselves. The gentle sweetness of the syrup was very comforting. The shiratama rice cakes were initially warm and soft, but became chewy and elastic when placed on the ice and cooled down. The changing textures were enjoyable. The "Sagano Negiyaki" for 800 yen was a must-try for a okonomiyaki blogger like me. The chewy thin skin was filled with crunchy green onions, finely chopped konjac, fried egg, pickled ginger, fish cake, and a half-cooked egg with a gooey batter. The approach to texture was excellent. It was similar to the Gion Issen Western-style restaurant, but larger and with a chewier batter. The old-fashioned sweet sauce was also delightful. We also ordered the "3-color Warabi" for 780 yen, with its cute three colors of kinako powder. We shared it among us. Our Arashiyama trip was all about eating. We were stuffed to the brim.

Visited in July 2021. On this day, we took a day trip drive and sightseeing to Arashiyama. We parked our car at a nearby coin parking near Arashiyama Station and crossed the Togetsukyo Bridge to arrive. Now... what to eat in Arashiyama!? When it comes to Kyoto, it has to be sweets ( ̄∇ ̄) Among the many sweet places, we chose this one! "Arashiyama no Mura" Here, you can enjoy traditional Japanese sweets such as "anmitsu," "zenzai," and shaved ice, as well as menu items like negiyaki to satisfy your hunger. There was one group waiting, so we wrote our names on the waiting list and entered the store in less than 10 minutes... Inside the store, there is an open kitchen on the left and table seats lined up towards the back on the right side. Upon closer inspection, covers were installed on the air conditioning vents to ensure that the air does not blow directly onto the customers, showing efforts to create a comfortable space. Our order was as follows! - Shiratama Cream Anmitsu (Matcha Ice Cream) - Tanbo Koori (Shaved Ice) - Kiwami It's so hot with temperatures hovering around 35 degrees every day, so something cold is perfect, right~ ■ Shiratama Cream Anmitsu We chose matcha ice cream over vanilla and poured the attached black honey over it before enjoying it! At the bottom, there are diced agar jelly, topped with shiratama, matcha ice cream, sweet red bean paste, banana, kiwi, pineapple, cherry, mandarin orange, yellow peach, and a rare apple simmered in wine, a luxurious lineup of fruits!! When you enjoy the fruits along with the agar jelly, it has a very gentle flavor that makes you feel relaxed and at ease (laughs). Ah, it's so soothing (*´∀`) ■ Tanbo Koori - Kiwami A slightly kinako-covered shaved ice with Kyoto black bean kinako syrup, shiratama dumplings soaked in hot water, and red beans as a set. Young female staff: "The ice melts easily, so please enjoy by gradually pouring the syrup." So, after pouring a little kinako syrup on the ice, you can top it with shiratama and sweet red bean paste by yourself!! The kinako syrup is incredibly fragrant and delicious~ (≧▽≦) Yum! As the staff said, the ice is a fluffy type that melts like snow in your mouth. In the case of kinako syrup, the flavor tends to weaken as the ice melts, but this syrup remains strong until the end. The atmosphere of the store is also good, and the staff explains the products clearly, making it easy to understand. We had a very pleasant time. Now that our stomachs have settled a bit with Japanese sweets, let's go sightseeing in Arashiyama! That's all for today.

Arashiyama Day 1 Snack Alley was a bit off the beaten path, but my husband quickly spotted it and we went in. My husband had a beer with negiyaki. My second son had negiyaki and Kyoto cider, I think. I had negiyaki with cream anmitsu and water. Trying to diet and save a bit, so I settled for water. (bitter smile) Oh, the negiyaki with plenty of green onions was delicious. So chewy and super tasty. It's like okonomiyaki but with soy sauce instead of sauce, maybe? It would be a great snack with beer. I wonder if they use wheat flour, corn flour, mochi rice, rice flour, or something else in the batter. And the cream anmitsu—rich ice cream, delicious azuki beans, and smooth agar. The sweetness was just right for me, who isn't a fan of sweet things. My husband suggested buying warabi mochi as a souvenir, so we got some for tea later in the room. It was just as delicious as the warabi mochi from the well-known brand Rakusho that a friend gave me before.

There was a lovely cafe tucked away from the bustling streets of Arashiyama, away from the crowds of tourists. It seemed to mainly serve sweets. They had a meal menu item called "negiyaki" which was perfect for a light lunch. Since it was lunchtime, I had to try the negiyaki, but I was also curious about their sweets. However, it was too early for dessert, so I also ordered a red bean latte. The negiyaki included green onions, konjac, egg, tempura crumbs, and pickled ginger. The sauce was really appetizing. The red bean latte was surprisingly delicious. Oh, it's made with red bean milk, that makes sense. It's not a bad combination. The cafe had a garden at the back, which was a nice place to take a break. It was a great dining experience.
