After visiting Arashiyama Kishiro, I visited Horin-ji temple and then strolled around the area near Togetsukyo Bridge. Originally planning to enjoy some food while walking, the cold wind made me change my plans. So, I decided to look for a cafe where I could sit in and eat. My family suggested a cafe run by Yojiya, famous for their oil blotting paper. On weekends, there is usually a long line, making it difficult to sit in, but since it was a weekday, I was able to enter without waiting. At the entrance, there was alcohol disinfection and temperature check. Then, I could choose a table from the available seats. Once seated, a staff member brought me a wet towel and a glass of water. The wet towel had the familiar face printed on Yojiya's oil blotting paper. Each table had an acrylic board for infection prevention, and mask cases were also provided. The drink menu included coffee, tea, smoothies, juices, etc. The food menu had sandwiches, pasta, curry, etc. For dessert, there were cake sets, parfaits, etc. I was torn between the "Yojiya Special Cappuccino" with the familiar face and the "Kinako Parfait," but I ended up ordering the latter. The Kinako Parfait was priced at 1,350 yen (including tax) and consisted of plenty of kinako cream, sponge cake, chewy mochi made from glutinous rice flour, maple cream, jelly, mixed nuts with cinnamon flavor, orange peel, etc. The parfait was delicious, with the kinako being particularly tasty. I'm not a fan of the cinnamon flavor, but the parfait itself had a refreshing sweetness and was easy to eat. With maple syrup, the taste of the parfait changes to a more Western flavor, but I personally preferred it as it was. Although I changed my plans, I had a relaxing time. If I have the chance to visit Arashiyama again in the future, I would love to revisit this cafe. The Kinako Parfait was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
