This is a beer garden located next to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and the Kamishichiken Kaburenjo Theater. Maiko (apprentice geisha) will come around to greet each table. The garden is beautiful, but the view from the beer garden area is limited. Food and drinks are ordered separately, not all-you-can-eat or drink. The seating fee is 2500 yen and comes with snacks, then you can add drinks and food at around 1000 yen per dish. On this day, we were able to see four maiko and geiko. It's a great place to bring friends visiting Kyoto.

Before going to the tea house, I visited a beer garden. Here, the geisha dancers from Kamishichiken take turns performing, creating a nice atmosphere. For a seating fee of 2,500 yen, we were served chilled tofu and edamame as appetizers. It was a sophisticated and enjoyable experience, different from a regular beer garden. Gion is great, but this place is also quite special.

I stayed at Momijiya in Takao and had a chance encounter with a Maiko from Kamishichiken while enjoying a riverside dinner. I heard they also have a beer garden, so I decided to check it out. The beer garden has a history of about 80 years, originally organized by the renowned sake brewery, Takara Shuzo, in various hanamachi districts including Kamishichiken. Now, only Kamishichiken continues to host the beer garden. Located near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, it's an area I don't usually visit at night, so it was a refreshing experience. The evening cityscape was beautiful with several stylish shops. I started with a set including beer, chilled tofu, and edamame for 2,000 yen, with additional beers priced at 1,000 yen each. There were various food options available as well. While it may seem a bit pricey, the opportunity to interact with Maiko and Geiko makes it a valuable experience. I had a drink at Sake Bar Banjyakura beforehand, so I managed to save a bit on costs. There were two seating options, one inside the historic building and the other in the garden. I sat in the garden, but I think the building would have been better. I look forward to visiting again.

Last year it was canceled due to Corona. Although this is from the year before last, let's write it as a cheer for this year when it will be held. I wanted to invite the executives who always complain every day and give them a change of mood, but I was told that all the reservations were full until the last day. The tea shop I favor suggested that there might be availability, so I called the head proprietress of Umeno, and she reserved the last time slot on the final day, saving the furthest seat for us. The executives, including the complaining leader, were very satisfied with the atmosphere, and the initial 2000 yen set disappeared in no time, prompting additional orders. My favorite maiko, Ume Hina-chan, was not on duty that day, but the head proprietress of Umeno came to greet us personally. The geisha association chief, Ume Ka-nee-san, as well as the geishas Ichiguchi-chan and Fumiyuki-chan, came to talk to us frequently, and we were able to take commemorative photos. And to top it off, Ume Hina-chan also appeared, and we were able to take a commemorative photo at the end, which made me happy! Every time I see them, they become more beautiful and mature. In the taxi on the way home, the complaining leader was delighted and said he definitely wants to come back next year. However, 2020 was canceled, and it seems that many geishas have quit at Umeno, but there are various reasons in their world. Before being a fan of Ume Hina, I am a fan of the head proprietress. The shamisen and singing of Yoshie, the head proprietress, are unforgettable once you hear them. I want to send my support.

I happened to eat nearby and decided to stop by on a whim. Even without a reservation, there were some empty seats in the back kitchen. However, the Maiko dancers never come to this place! And if they do, they ignore anyone who isn't a regular customer (crying). I had edamame, chilled tofu, and beer for 2,000 yen. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, so I left early.

I was taken to the Kamishichiken Beer Garden near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. This place is a dance practice and performance venue for geisha, but in the summer it turns into a beer garden where you can have 3 drinks for 2000 yen. You can also bring in food from nearby restaurants for an additional fee. There are three geisha in yukata who come to your table to take photos and chat with you. It's quite enjoyable just doing that. They put a clip on your table to mark that they have visited. How about meeting a real geisha in person? Thank you for the meal!

Summer in Kyoto, a traditional sightseeing spot! Visited after 3 years! It's not cheap, but you can experience the atmosphere of Kyoto! First set: 2500 yen (draft beer & appetizers).

A summer limited beer garden where you can have a little chat with geisha and maiko. The price is reasonable considering the opportunity to talk with them, although it may be brief (in my case, around 3 to 5 minutes depending on how crowded it is). The building exudes a deep historical charm and elegance, making it worth a visit for tourists along with Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. It was a bit surprising to see foreign staff, but overall, it's a decent place for tourists. However, when it comes to food and drink quality, it's just average. The variety is similar to what you might find on a bullet train (laughs). Maybe convenience stores with dining areas offer more variety? But I understand that cutting costs on food could affect the tea house's profitability. The best part here is the serene atmosphere of the historic Kamishichiken district.

I want to go to this beer garden again next year.
