This is a standing soba restaurant located inside Naka-shojima Station on the Keihan Line. You can eat while standing at the counter. You can order a one-coin set from the ticket machine, which includes one rice ball and either udon or soba (both hot) for 500 yen (tax included). The noodles are pre-cooked and stored in a bag, which is then warmed up in hot water and served with broth. The broth has a reliable flavor, making it enjoyable. The cost performance and speed are good. I only had 15 minutes before catching my next train, so I was able to have a proper lunch and make my next schedule thanks to this place. They met my needs perfectly.

The errand took longer than expected, and I was really hungry, so I stopped by a "station soba" for the first time in my life. It was around 1 pm on Sunday, and there were only two older men in the restaurant. I had the image of salarymen quickly eating standing up, but when I entered, there were counter seats with chairs. I put my belongings on the shelf under the table. The restaurant is small but clean. I ordered the kitsune and seasonal rice set for ¥620. It arrived quickly, which was appreciated. As mentioned in reviews, the broth was really delicious! The udon noodles were soft, and the fried tofu was sweet. The mixed rice was also tasty with just the right seasoning. It would be nice if they offered extra green onions for those who order extra noodles or tempura. Customers kept coming in as the trains arrived. That day, it was mostly elderly individuals dining alone. I'm curious to try the curry udon next time. Thank you for the meal.

I always stop by Noodle-ya at Nakashima during lunchtime. I always order the same thing: udon with extra noodles and tempura topping. It costs 410 yen and is ready in 3 minutes. The broth is delicious, so I always drink it all up. The noodles are soft and go well with the broth.

The meat udon and plain udon in large portions with tempura bits on top were quite soft and delicious, with a tasty broth that I ended up finishing completely. It was crowded during Sunday lunchtime, so I had to wait a bit, but the turnover was fast so I was able to get in quickly. It would be great if they started accepting PayPay.

There is a chain restaurant called Menza located near the Keihan Electric Railway station on Nakashima Island. It is located on the transfer platform for trains heading to Osaka and Uji, so I often use it when going to Uji. This time, I had the kitsune soba and seasonal rice set. The kitsune soba had a large piece of sweet aburaage, and the broth was delicious, so it passed the test. The seasonal rice was bamboo shoot rice. There were two pieces of young bamboo shoots on top, but they were a bit hard, as if they were added later. Well, it was cheap and the taste was not bad, so I finished it all. Thank you for the meal.

On the way back from the unpleasant hospital today, I felt relieved from stress. After that, I had a soft udon noodle dish that was gentle and comforting. I ordered my usual kake udon with extra noodles and topped it with tempura for only 440 yen. It was delicious! I sprinkled plenty of shichimi spice on top and enjoyed it.

After leaving the hospital, I stopped by a udon restaurant inside the station. I ended up choosing the kake udon for 280 yen, with a noodle large portion for an additional 130 yen, and tempura flakes for 30 yen, totaling 440 yen. The udon had no firmness and was rather soft, almost breaking apart, but the udon broth was delicious, making me want to enjoy it simply. I look forward to my next hospital visit. I wish they offered extra green onions and accepted PayPay for payment.

I went for a walk and took the Keihan Line from this station where I don't usually ride. Inside the station, there is an udon restaurant. There were no people as it was past breakfast time. The udon soup was surprisingly delicious, but unfortunately, the noodles were not good. The rice ball with seaweed mixed in was also not great. It's not bad considering it's cheap.

In December 2021, I had yellow soba at a restaurant located on the platform of Keihan Nakashojima Station! I've always wanted to try this place, similar to Himeji Station Soba, where you can easily enjoy udon or soba with a ticket system while seated. On this day, I enjoyed a set of Gomoku rice and yellow soba, which I found to be a tasty and easy-to-eat yellow soba with a classic feel. It's a valuable place where you can casually enjoy yellow soba, so I would like to visit again when using the Keihan train to Uji or Kyoto in the future. #Menza Nakashojima Store #Yellow Soba #Keihan Nakashojima Station #Yellow Soba on the Platform #Fushimi Gourmet #Fushimi Udon #Fushimi Yellow Soba #Nakashojima Gourmet #Nakashojima Udon #Nakashojima Yellow Soba

Before heading home at night, I felt hungry so I decided to stop by this restaurant. Since it was nighttime, I didn't order the regular soba and instead opted for the tantan yellow soba. I also ordered a canned beer, which was a bit expensive at 410 yen for 350ml. The tantan soba took a bit longer to arrive compared to regular soba. It looked like a light tantan-men. The soup had a sweet Japanese dashi base with a tantan flavor, which personally didn't quite suit my taste. However, I managed to finish it. The man sitting across from me mentioned on his way out, "The soup here is really delicious." I plan to try the tempura soba here next time. (The next morning) I visited Naka-Shijima Station for breakfast. I decided to order a regular menu item at Menza. Although they had a breakfast set, I was in the mood for Gomoku Gohan, so I ordered the tempura udon and Gomoku Gohan separately. I usually prefer soba with tempura, but based on other reviews, I decided to go with udon this time. The tempura arrived quickly, and I took a sip of the dashi soup. It had a nice bonito aroma! The dashi here was delicious in a different way compared to Hanshin Soba. The udon was average, but the overall meal was very tasty. My review is based on the morning experience. Thank you for the meal.

Delicious. The broth is excellent. Udon is highly recommended here. The buttons on the ticket vending machine may be a bit confusing as regular udon and soba are positioned below the middle, so you might get lost at first. Electronic money is accepted. Mobile Suica is also okay. It's a convenient and good store.

Two days in a row in Kyoto. Today I went to Menza, a restaurant under the Keihan Electric Railway group. It's been two years since I last visited the Nakashojima branch. Oh, they have a matsutake mushroom rice set. I had it with tempura soba. The matsutake mushrooms were finely chopped but the aroma spread throughout my mouth. The soba was slightly soft, but the broth was sweet and delicious. The tempura was also filled with vegetables. Thank you for the meal!

In the midst of the relentless rise in food prices, I eagerly jumped at the opportunity for a 370 yen bowl of soba with tempura. However, I was disappointed to find that the tempura only consisted of a small amount of carrots and onions deep-fried in a thick batter. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the usual shrimp or other ingredients you would expect in tempura. The soba itself was standard, with a soft texture, and the dipping sauce was tasty. It seems that Kansai region's dashi broth adds a nice flavor. While Kansai is known for its udon, I want to emphasize that their soba is also delicious.

I wondered what was cheaper than kakiage by 20 yen, so I tried it. Oh! It was a collection of tenkasu similar to what you find in cup noodles. Not bad, but maybe I should have gone with the kakiage. I waited a few minutes for the express train to Yodoyabashi and charged up on udon while watching the local and express trains depart. Tempura udon for 340 yen. I intended to buy it with Pitapa, but my Nanaco card in my smartphone case responded instead. Either way is fine though. Since updating the Tabelog app, I've been finding old drafts that I had left unfinished, so there may be some older content mixed in these past few days.

In Kyoto, there is a udon and soba shop on the train platform where you can get kitsune soba for 340 yen. I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure what kind of tempura will come with it, but the kitsune soba I had in a rough area of Yokohama the other day was 60 yen more expensive!! That tempura soba in the rough area sure was pricey.

Located on the platform for trains heading towards Osaka (2nd platform) and Uji Line (3rd platform) at Rokujizo Station, this udon shop caught my attention on my way back from Daigo-ji Temple when I was feeling hungry. There weren't many food options at Rokujizo Station, so I decided to make a quick stop at Nakashima Station where I found out there was a udon shop right on the platform! I saw reviews mentioning options like yellow soba and grilled fox udon, but unfortunately they were not available when I visited. I ended up trying the meat udon, which was surprisingly delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the udon noodles were soft and round, typical of Kansai-style udon. Overall, it was a satisfying meal and a rare find at a train station. Meat Udon: 500 yen including tax.

This is a cheap, fast, and delicious restaurant. It is located on the platform of Keihan Nakashojima Station. It is a small shop with only counter seating, so it may feel a bit cramped, but the turnover of customers is very fast, allowing you to eat and move quickly. They also offer set meals with generous portions. I recommend the curry udon.

I use this place twice a month in the morning. I usually go for the "morning udon," but today I ordered the "seasonal meal set." This season's dish is matsutake mushroom rice. The tempura is quite large. The tempura seasoning is a bit sweet, which is not to my liking. The noodles and broth are decent for a station udon, considering the price. The matsutake mushroom rice is mushy and unevenly mixed, with no aroma or actual pieces of matsutake. Is that blackish stuff supposed to be matsutake? The udon is passable, but the mixed rice is disappointing. The mixed rice at Tanbabashi was decent for the price. Also, it would be nice to be able to choose the type of udon.

Today I was working in the Kyoto area. I was searching for a good soba restaurant and I happened to come across a standing-style shop inside Naka-Shoijima Station where I was transferring to the Uji Line. It was located on the platform of the Uji Line, so I had to check it out. Walking towards Demachiyanagi, I found the shop at the end of the platform. It looked like a newly renovated place from the outside. It was 12:30. I opened the sliding door and went to the ticket machine. I had kakiage soba the day before, so I decided to go with the ginger pork soba this time. I handed the ticket to the lady behind the counter and declared my order. I was happy to be able to sit down and eat. After waiting for 2-3 minutes, my ginger pork soba was served. First, I tried the broth. It had a gentle flavor that paired well with the sweet and savory seasoned pork. Honestly, it might be my favorite standing-style broth. Next, I dissolved the ginger into the soba. The noodles were the thick and soft kind commonly found in Kansai. They were a bit on the smaller side in terms of portion. The pork had a good balance of sweet and savory flavors, not too strong. In the end, I ended up eating the broth first (laughs). Before I knew it, the shop was full of customers. Most of them were ordering udon. I would definitely like to visit this shop again. Thank you for the meal!

This is Menza at Chuoshima Station. It's located at the end of platforms 2 and 3. In the morning, they offer "morning udon" which comes with tenkasu (tempura scraps) and a rice ball, "great value udon" which adds a boiled egg, a breakfast set with kake udon and rice with egg, a morning donburi with tempura, and a morning donburi set. The udon here is decent but not exceptional. The tempura in the donburi is the same as the one in the udon, but the sauce has a strong flavor, too strong with a sharp taste like alcohol. At 480 yen for a donburi or set, I wouldn't order this again.
