I traveled to Kyoto for a reservation-only afternoon tea. The interior of the restaurant was small, but the afternoon tea customers were seated in a spacious area at the back, allowing for a relaxing experience. The scones came in three flavors - plain, matcha, and walnut - and were all delicious with a moist and slightly crispy texture. They were not too dry, and I kept going back for more. The drinks were refillable, but tea lattes were limited to one per person. I chose Uva tea, which was pleasantly light and refreshing with a good balance of tea and milk flavors. It was perfect for sipping on a hot day. The standout items on the afternoon tea stand were the "smoked salmon and cream cheese rillette" and the "homemade truffle butter." Both were savory and slightly salty, complementing the slightly sweet scones well. The truffle butter had visible truffle pieces, making it a luxurious treat. Personally, I preferred the savory items over the desserts. The 2-hour refillable service for Chabatti scones and tea, along with the serene atmosphere of Arashiyama in Kyoto, made for a truly elegant and satisfying experience. It was worth traveling to Kyoto just for this.

Specializing in milk tea, CHAVATY in Kyoto's Arashiyama offers a delicious soft serve ice cream. Their White Peach Oolong Soft Serve Ice Cream is a summer limited edition treat made with white peaches from Okayama and Taiwan's Dong Ding Oolong tea. The white peaches are pureed whole, skin and all, while the Dong Ding Oolong tea leaves are finely crushed, resulting in a rich and flavorful taste. The sweetness of the white peaches and the refreshing taste of the Oolong tea complement each other perfectly, creating a delightful and addictive flavor. This special soft serve ice cream is available at CHAVATY stores in Omotesando, Kyoto's Arashiyama, and Hakuba. If you're interested, be sure to give it a try! Takeout is relatively quick, while dining in may be crowded. Visit CHAVATY in Kyoto's Arashiyama for this delightful treat.

Chavaty Kyoto/Arashiyama-menu- Tea & Scone Set - Plain Scone - Salted Whipped Butter - Seasonal Spread (Peach Butter) - Iced Tea Latte (Hojicha, Matcha) The Tea & Scone set allows you to choose your favorite scone, spread, and tea. The moist scones were delicious, and the salted whipped butter and limited-time peach butter were also tasty. The bottle for the Iced Tea Latte is super cute ☕️☁️ The portion size is generous and the cost performance may be good!? I'm also curious about the Afnoon.

I visited Chavaty in Arashiyama, a place I've always wanted to go. This afternoon tea place was recommended by both my friend and a staff member from another afternoon tea shop. The best part is that they offer all-you-can-eat scones. It's convenient that you can make a reservation for afternoon tea. According to my friend, they used to accept cash in the past, but now it's only prepayment through a reservation site. I made a reservation for 11 am on a weekday, so the place was not crowded when I arrived. However, it was nearly full by 12 pm. The afternoon tea set consists of various sweets and savory items, including scones, tea macarons, and vegetable gratin. The scones were unique with two types of spreads, which were surprisingly delicious. The sweets were a mix of Japanese and Western flavors, and the presentation was lovely. The savory items were also plentiful and satisfying. The hot vegetable gratin was a nice touch. The scones were small in size, making it easy to try different flavors. They were firm and packed with flavor, especially the matcha scone with a generous amount of matcha powder. I also appreciated the variety of teas available for free refills. The only downside was the lack of a restroom inside the restaurant. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely visit again.

Soft serve ice cream with amaou strawberries and chamomile at CHAVATY Kyoto Arashiyama. It was my first visit and it was a hot day, so I decided to try their refreshing soft serve. They were still serving amaou strawberries! The combination of amaou and chamomile in the soft serve was really nice. I got the limited edition amaou and chamomile soft serve for 680 yen. It will be available until mid-June, so it was great to still enjoy strawberries. The texture was more like a frozen treat than creamy, with a refreshing and cooling sensation. Perfect for cooling down on a hot day. The location is convenient, only about a 5-minute walk from Hankyu Arashiyama Station and close to Togetsukyo Bridge. They are also known for their scones and tea, so dining in is also recommended. Don't miss out on this delightful treat at CHAVATY Kyoto Arashiyama!

I went to "Chabati" near Arashiyama Station. It was a stylish and cute shop. I found this cute shop while walking around Arashiyama. I was lured in by the delicious-looking soft serve ice cream sign. I ordered the "Amaou Camomile" for 680 yen. It was a cute pink soft serve made with Amaou strawberries. It had a refreshing camomile taste within the sweetness, making it a spring-like treat. It wasn't too sweet and was very delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Visited during Golden Week. Wanted to have breakfast at the cafe but it was fully booked. Seems like afternoon tea is popular, so it's hard to get in on weekends and holidays. Ended up buying scones instead. They had 4 types available, so I bought 6 to get them in a box. Ate them at home and they had a simple and rustic taste. Nothing particularly outstanding in terms of flavor. Most customers seemed to be buying soft-serve ice cream!

In the evening after walking around all day, I visited a stylish cafe in Arashiyama that was unique for its lack of traditional Japanese style. The riverside in Arashiyama was chilly, so I was looking for a place to sit indoors and happened to come across this cafe. My friend and I ordered a set of scones and a drink, as well as an additional drink. We shared the scones, which came with a choice of seasonal spreads - we chose pistachio chocolate and strawberry jam. The drinks we ordered were Uva tea latte and chamomile tea. The drinks arrived first, followed by the scones after a short wait. The staff kindly asked if we were sharing and brought extra plates and spread spoons. The warm scones and delicious spreads made for a happy experience in a cozy atmosphere. The tea latte was especially tasty and perfect for warming up on a cold day. Just a note, the wooden chairs at the large table were not ideal for long conversations, so if you want to relax, it's better to request a seat with cushions. I would love to come back and try their afternoon tea next time.

Admired tea specialty store. Ordered a matcha latte, which is Kyoto-like. The color is milky, not too strong. The sweetness is kept low to not disturb the tea flavor (changes are possible). Got a scone to go, they put it in a bag for me. When I tried it, it wasn't too strong. It's refreshing. Just right to keep drinking, and the taste is delicious. Not too sweet, which is nice. There's a good amount, so I can keep enjoying it. The scone, I thought it might be dry, but it has a strong butter flavor, not too greasy. Enjoyed chewing on it. I think it was a good purchase.

I made a reservation and visited the trendy café Chabati located right next to Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama. I tried their popular Strawberry Afternoon Tea set for ¥3850 (tax included), which includes unlimited scones and drinks. The sweetness was well-balanced and not too overwhelming, making it both beautiful and delicious. The spacious and high-ceilinged interior provided a relaxing atmosphere, allowing me to enjoy a leisurely time. I will definitely visit again.

Limited edition amaou strawberry soft serve? It has the aroma of red tea, and the texture is like sherbet. It was too cold to eat outside, but once you get to the cone, it's delicious. The corn is tasty too. I could finish it in one go. The original drink was ordered, and the Uva had a refreshing taste with almost no sweetness. It was delicious.

After having breakfast at the hotel buffet and checking out leisurely in the morning, we headed to Arashiyama on the second day. Places like the bamboo forest and Togetsukyo Bridge were on my list of places to visit, so I was excited from the morning. From Kyoto Station, we took a train to Saga-Arashiyama Station. First, we walked to the "Bamboo Grove" and then visited the "Tenryu-ji Temple" to see the Cloud Dragon painting. We took pictures like a camera enthusiast at the Togetsukyo Bridge, and then visited the Horin-ji Temple located across the bridge. Before we knew it, we had been walking for over two hours, almost non-stop. Moreover, there were many tourists, and at some points, we had to weave through the crowd, which made us even more tired. So, we decided to take a break. We headed to "CHAVATY," located near the Togetsukyo Bridge. It was past 1:00 PM on a holiday, and the inside of the restaurant was full. The stylish exterior had a metropolitan atmosphere. The place offers tea, sweets, scones, and scone sandwiches, with a clientele consisting mostly of young women. I was particularly interested in the "Tea Soft Serve Ice Cream." Note that ordering the "Tea Soft Serve Ice Cream" as a standalone item is for takeout only. We waited in front of a sign that said, "Please line up here for takeout." There were no other customers waiting for takeout, so we were first in line, but there was no guidance from the staff, which made us a bit anxious. After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were finally called inside. I love "hojicha" among tea-based sweets, so I ordered the "hojicha" flavor of the "Tea Soft Serve Ice Cream." The soft serve ice cream with a thick swirl was ready in no time. We secured a bench by the river and enjoyed the ice cream while looking at the Togetsukyo Bridge. What a luxurious time! The "Tea Soft Serve Ice Cream: Hojicha" was delicious! It was rich and had a strong hojicha flavor. The roasted aroma of hojicha stood out, and there was also a milky taste from the soft serve ice cream. As someone who prefers tea-based sweets with intense aroma and flavor, I was delighted with this soft serve ice cream. The texture was not so much smooth but rather dense and rich. Personally, I prefer the traditional soft serve ice cream with a thinner swirl, but it's all a matter of preference. By the way, my companion said the matcha flavor was also rich. Phew. Just taking a short break and sitting down helped alleviate a lot of fatigue. It was such a luxury to be able to rest while gazing at the Togetsukyo Bridge. It was a wonderful memory. Since we still had some time, I thought of trying one more food stop. Thank you for the meal.

I went to enjoy the strawberry afternoon tea. I'm not a big fan of sweet treats, but this afternoon tea had a good balance with options like soup, salad, and gratin. The scones were not too sweet, which was nice. However, the strawberry ohagi was a bit hard to eat, possibly because it was frozen and thawed naturally. I wanted to order soft serve ice cream as an extra, but was told I could only get it as a set with a drink. Since I had already had two drinks, I didn't need another one, so I had to give up on the ice cream. It would be great if they could be more flexible and allow customers who have already ordered a drink to order items individually.

It was very popular, and reservations for weekends had to be made 2-3 weeks in advance. Afternoon tea is a must-reserve, but many customers just come for tea, so there is always a line of people waiting outside. The scones at the afternoon tea were unlimited, but they were not to my liking - small, hard, and dry. They were served with salmon or liver pate instead of clotted cream and jam, which I found disappointing. The Darjeeling tea was decent, Assam was okay but needed milk, and Uva was too weak to enjoy. There were several flavored teas, but I only tried the strawberry one, which was average. The recommended drink was the Green Herb Tea, made from freshly brewed herbs, which I enjoyed. I ordered mint and lemongrass. I also ordered a matcha latte, but it was too sweet and I couldn't finish it. The strawberry sweets I had expected were nothing special. The staff seemed understaffed for the number of customers, so service was slow. The afternoon tea took 15 minutes to arrive after being seated, which was a bit disappointing. There are no toilets inside, so you have to go to the public toilets outside, which was inconvenient. The lack of soap and other amenities in the public toilets made me concerned about COVID-19 precautions. Additionally, I was surprised to see a male janitor waiting outside the toilet cubicle. Considering the price, I think it's okay, but I wouldn't confidently recommend it to others due to the public toilet situation, which really ruins the atmosphere.

The reservation was mistakenly made for winter, but we had an autumn afternoon tea. We made a mistake by ordering an additional 3 small scones after eating the savory items, so we were too full to enjoy the desserts afterwards. The pâté served with the scones, with salmon and liver, was delicious. The location was great with seats facing the window, and the raised floor had floor heating, making it quite warm. There was nothing to block the sunlight, so we were a bit concerned about UV rays. Even though the autumn leaves season in Arashiyama had passed, there were still many people. The atmosphere was nice, the service was good, so it's definitely worth a visit.

Afternoon tea (all-you-can-eat scones) for 3850 yen. There weren't many fancy sweets, but with the all-you-can-eat scones, I thought it was worth the price! It would have been even better if they had provided something to spread on the scones.
