I used this cafe to wait for my friend in Arashiyama! Despite the crowded area with lots of people during the daytime on a weekday, this cafe (about 5 minutes from Togetsukyo Bridge) was quiet, had available seats, and allowed me to relax. The view was also nice. I didn't order a meal since I had plans for lunch with my friend, but the salad and bread looked very delicious! The shaved ice and fruit tea were very tempting due to the high temperature. The Kyoto matcha iced latte was also delicious with a rich matcha flavor. ❤️

This shop is located a little off the main street! The terrace seats are a nice place to relax, with a view of a beautiful garden and a pleasant breeze passing through. I ordered the matcha shaved ice, which I was a bit unsure about the ice texture, but it turned out to be finely shaved ice! And the matcha flavor was exquisite! I also had the fruit tea, which had plenty of cold fruit in it and was very refreshing. I definitely want to visit this great shop again. It seems like they also serve parfait on weekdays. Thank you for the meal.

This is a cafe in Arashiyama, Kyoto. There are many cafes in Arashiyama, but they are all small and crowded. This cafe is located about a 5-minute walk upstream from Togetsukyo Bridge along the river. It is a cafe facing a garden, with many terrace seats as a feature. Considering the risk of COVID-19, terrace seats are attractive. This is a self-service cafe. They offer Kyoto coffee for 450 yen, cafe au lait for 530 yen, and a set of buttered toast and salad with a drink for 1200 yen. They also have light meal options like beef stewed in soy sauce with Kyoto green onions and udon noodles with Kyoto seven-spice flavor for 1050 yen, and matcha galette with a warm egg on top for 1000 yen. What's more, the best thing is that it is located on the outskirts of the Arashiyama area, so it is a hidden gem cafe that is relatively quiet. I ordered a Kyoto matcha latte for 600 yen. Originally, it is a self-service style, but since it was still quiet, the staff brought it to my table. It already had sugar in it, so it may be too sweet for some, but the sweetness was nice for my tired body. The best thing is that it is quiet, so you can relax and take a break. Remember this cafe as it is convenient.

Today's "lunch" ♫ (^ω^) I came to Arashiyama, where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Even though it's a weekday, there are so many people here. I was hungry, so I had a light lunch at Arashiyama OMOKAGE Terrace. It's warm today, and the terrace seating is very comfortable. The toast, boneless ham, and salad were delicious. It's a hidden gem because it's not crowded. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

This is a cafe attached to the Saga Arashiyama Cultural Museum. Even those who do not visit the museum can use it. Many cafes around Arashiyama Station, one of Kyoto's top tourist spots, are crowded, so this place is a hidden gem. Even on holidays when I visited, half of the tables were empty, so I could relax. There is a spacious terrace seat, and in front of the terrace seat, there is a large stone garden. It's quite impressive! The Darjeeling tea (450 yen) is delicious. You can't see Togetsukyo Bridge from here, but you can breathe in the pleasant air of nature in Arashiyama. Since sightseeing in Arashiyama involves a lot of walking, this cafe is a wonderful place to take a break.

I wanted to have coffee at Arabica Kyoto Arashiyama, but the line was too long, so I took a break at this cafe instead. I had a domestic ginger ale for 510 yen and Uji matcha tiramisu for 610 yen. This cafe is located in the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan. I was able to relax here, thank you for the meal.

I had frozen fruits and iced tea, thank you! It's located about a 10-minute walk from JR Saga Arashiyama Station. The shop is inside the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan, just a few minutes' walk along the Katsura River from Togetsukyo Bridge. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday. Unfortunately, the seasonal OMOKAGE parfait is only available on weekends, but since the weather was nice, I enjoyed frozen fruits and iced tea on the terrace.

I also visited the Arashiyama Sagano Bunkakan venue of the "Fantasista of Kyoto" exhibition. In addition to the exhibition, there are also permanent displays of Hyakunin Isshu (One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each) and Karuta (Japanese playing cards). Perhaps they chose the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu because Mount Ogura is nearby. There were Karuta cards featuring works by Korin Ogata and the "Shitaku Karuta" (wooden cards from Hokkaido) with the second halves of poems. The museum shop had some curious items. Thick Hyakunin Isshu cards were packed in pairs in a bag. They were actually icing cookies. It's amazing how they can print such fine details on cookies. The cookies were crunchy and more like biscuits, similar to Morinaga Marie cookies. I enjoyed them, even though they were out of season and from a different region. The Hyakunin Isshu cookies were priced at 270 yen (discounted due to approaching expiration date, regular price is 432 yen).

"Arashiyama OMOKAGE Terrace" First of all, the exterior of the shop looks like a stylish cafe in the middle of a tourist spot, but there is a different atmosphere surrounding "Arashiyama OMOKAGE Terrace". It seems that it was established in conjunction with the renovation of the "Hyakunin Isshu Hall, Shigure-den", and reopened on November 1, 2018 as a stylish cafe. The ambiance felt like it was next to a library. From inside the shop, you can enjoy a view of a stone garden and spend a relaxing time. Be sure to stop by!

- About the Store
Located within the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan, which showcases Hyakunin Isshu and Japanese paintings, this cafe offers a stunning view of the mountains in Arashiyama.
The main menu features toast plates using the "Kuchidoke Mochiko" bread from Eiraku-do, along with desserts and monthly set menus.
The cafe also has terrace seating overlooking a relaxing stone garden.
- Recommended Dish
Kuchidoke Mochiko Kinako Butter Toast with Vanilla Ice Cream - 610 yen (tax included)
The distinct texture of the red bean paste combined with the butter's salty richness is a standout feature of this dish. The 3cm thick bread made with domestic mochi rice is chewy and has a mochi-like elasticity. The crust is slightly chewy as well, thanks to the rice flour used. The generous amount of ice cream adds a refreshing touch to the combination of red bean paste and butter.
- Other Items
Domestically sourced Yuzu Soda - 510 yen (tax included)
The refreshing taste of yuzu paired with carbonation was delightful.

During my trip to Kyoto in November 2020, I had lunch at a cafe located within the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan. You can use the cafe without paying an entrance fee. It is located next to The Luxury Collection Suiran. The entrance is a bit hidden. You place your order and pay at the counter, then wait at your table. I vaguely remember being given a buzzer like in a food court, and when it rang, I went to pick up my order (I apologize if I remembered incorrectly). I ordered the "Kuchidoke Mochi" Butter Toast and the Garden Salad Plate with 10 kinds of vegetables. I chose black tea as my set drink. The salad dressing had a refreshing lemon flavor, which I liked. The bread was also soft and chewy, which was great! Enjoying lunch while looking at the stone garden gave me a real feeling of being in Kyoto. The menu seems more like a breakfast menu, but since the cafe opens at 10 am, it might be difficult for tourists to use it for breakfast.

This is a café located on the first floor of the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan. I went there because I heard that you can also use the café without staying at the hotel. It is a hidden gem as it is a bit away from the boat rental dock and yakatabune (traditional Japanese houseboat) boarding area, which makes it a peaceful spot. It was a Saturday morning, but I was able to enter without waiting in line. You order at the counter and then carry the food yourself. The weather was nice and warm, so I chose to sit on the terrace outside. I ordered a salad with lots of fresh vegetables and bread. The vegetables were fresh and sweet, and very delicious. The bread was incredibly soft and just to my liking. I recommend this café for lunch or a break during your sightseeing.

Located next to the Luxury Collection Sui Ran, Sagan Arashiyama Bunkakan offers a recommended set menu of dashi and Kyoto seven spice mayo tamagoyaki hot dog with salad. You can enjoy this even without entering the museum as it is located outside the entrance gate. The combination of dashimaki and French bread is surprisingly good. The salad portion is generous and satisfying, with a refreshing lemon dressing.

This is a cafe located just off the main street of Arashiyama. It is a self-service cafe with very few people around, making it a hidden gem. You can relax and enjoy your time there. It's a great place to stop by during a stroll. Thank you for the meal.

There was a slightly unusual menu which included mochi flour toast with shigureni and Kujyo green onions udon. However, what I ended up having was the "Uji Matcha Tiramisu with silky yuba." When in Kyoto, I always feel like I have to try matcha drinks and sweets. Am I the only one...? It is said that the Hyakunin Isshu was born in Arashiyama. The Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan exhibits Japanese paintings along with the history and charm of the Hyakunin Isshu. The spacious gallery on the second floor with tatami mats would be appreciated by foreign visitors. There are chairs on the veranda, so you can forget about the hustle and bustle and relax while basking in the sun. It's a great place to unwind if you're tired of the crowds.

This time, I would like to introduce a cafe called "OMOKAGE Terrace" that opened in Arashiyama, Kyoto in November last year. It is located in the completely renovated "Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan" and was created under the supervision of the famous French restaurant "Gion Okumura". The glass-walled interior has a long and narrow space reminiscent of an eel's sleeping place, with a stone garden spreading across the entire glass surface surrounded by greenery. One of the recommended items is the "Matsui Shuzo Sake Kasu Pound Cake (served with hojicha)". This pound cake is made with sake kasu from Matsui Shuzo, the oldest sake brewery in Kyoto, giving it a unique sweet aroma of sake. It is moist, so it may go well with hojicha or black tea rather than Japanese tea. If you are curious, why not stop by and try it out?

【2018.11.24】I came to see the autumn leaves in Kyoto. Arashiyama was very crowded, making it difficult to find a lunch spot. I decided to try this cafe, "Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan," which is produced by Gion Okumura.
I ordered the Arashiyama set meal for 1,850 yen (excluding tax) and the Beef Stew Rice for 1,000 yen.
It was delicious. Let's go to Kyoto. (JR Tokai - commercial)

The terrace is pet-friendly. In a crowded tourist spot, we were able to relax and enjoy coffee while looking at the garden in a peaceful atmosphere. It was nice. Was it because the museum was closed that it was not crowded?
