On a weekday in July, there was a tremendous thunderstorm in Nagoya. In the morning, it was sunny in Kyoto, and even after arriving in Kibune around noon, it remained sunny for a while. I arrived at the restaurant around 12:30. "Kikaraku" is located right in front of Kifune Shrine. The staff asked me, "If it rains, the upper part will get wet, what would you like to do?" I decided to dine at the riverside terrace first. I had made a reservation for the Noryo Kawadoko course (¥9,680). The atmosphere was truly amazing! Being on a rapid stream made it really cool. It had a sophisticated charm and the food was delicious. The course included: [Appetizer], [Hassun] - five dishes of the day, [Mukozuke] - sea bream and conger eel with plum sauce, among others, [Yakimono] - grilled young ayu fish with salt, [Agemono] - stir-fried heavenly child and river shrimp, [Hiyamono] - somen noodles, shrimp, and onsen tamago, [Gohan] - rice, red miso soup, pickles, [Mizumono] - watermelon. Just as we were enjoying the watermelon ayu, it started to rain (sad face). Other customers also quickly moved indoors. We had already enjoyed the atmosphere, so we followed suit. As the rain poured down, the staff worked together to clean up the riverside terrace. It seems to be a challenge every time. We continued our meal while looking out the window at the river. The young ayu was so tender you could eat it from head to tail! The conger eel sashimi with plum sauce really captured the essence of summer. We savored the tempura of ayu, somen noodles, and watermelon. It was a delightful meal! After worrying about the weather, it miraculously cleared up later. I will also include photos of Kifune Shrine that we visited afterwards. ※We tried to move on to Kurama but had to give up due to another thunderstorm.
