I used it for lunch during my Arashiyama stroll. The pizza, baked one by one in the stone oven in the restaurant, is definitely delicious. Despite being shortly after opening on a weekday, it was crowded. I ordered the classic Margherita. The homemade chili oil, separate from Tabasco, was amazing. The beer was Kirin's craft beer with a hint of citrus. Perfect for a hot day. The owner is Italian, I think? I was able to enjoy the authentic taste. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for lunch on a weekday during a consecutive holiday. Arrived around 1:30 pm, about 1 km from the Suiran Luxury Hotel Kyoto. Despite being located next to the railway tracks of the Saga Arashiyama Line, the noise from the single-car local train did not bother me for some reason. [Parking Information] Not available. - Margherita Pizza 1400 yen: Thin but chewy crust with stretchy cheese, delicious! - Fried Pizza with Cheese & Honey 800 yen: Crispy on the outside, chewy in the center, the cheese and honey add a savory touch. Overall, the restaurant is run by what seems to be an Italian macho handsome male owner and a beautiful woman. They accept various electronic payments and credit cards, which is convenient.

When I went for lunch, there was a wait of about one group due to the weekend, and the seats were filled. The pizza crust had a unique texture, crunchy yet chewy. I saw they had authentic Italian tiramisu, so I decided to order it. It wasn't too sweet, but it was delicious.

Today's lunch was at "Pizzeria Lugara". Located on the way from Saga Arashiyama and Marutamachi Street towards Tenryuji Temple, across from the music box museum, this pizza restaurant looks very authentic. There are counter seats and tables facing the window. If you look closely, you'll see a large oven in the back. The menu offers a variety of pizzas, including fried pizza. I opted for the standard "Margherita + Green Salad" for 1900 yen. There are various condiments for flavor enhancement, with the Chili Oil standing out. First, a plate is brought out, followed by the salad. The dressing seems to be balsamic vinegar-based with walnuts and oranges, giving it a foreign touch. When the pizza arrives, it completes a splendid set. The pizza is quite large with plenty of melted cheese. The crust is thin with a hint of wheat flavor. The tomato sauce is rich and authentic. On the way out, I noticed a stack of firewood on the side, confirming that this is indeed an authentic pizza place.

<February 2021 First Visit> When we went to Arashiyama, I was thinking of trying tofu dishes, but my husband wanted to revisit this restaurant because he had been there before and it was delicious. We entered without a reservation. It seemed like a restaurant known for its stone oven pizzas, as most of the menu consisted of pizzas. There was one type of salad and two types of desserts. The drink selection was extensive. We ordered Margherita, Crepe Lazania, Panzerotti, and Honey Fromage. Two of them were unique choices! They were all excellent. The Margherita had a wonderful aroma of pizza dough and tomatoes. The tomatoes were tangy and refreshing. The quality of the dough and the baking were top-notch. The cheese was also delicious. The Crepe Lazania was a rich cheese dish with layers of lasagna, and it was enhanced by the flavorful tomatoes. It was a surprising twist on the traditional lasagna, just like the Margherita, and we decided it was a must-order dish. The Panzerotti, which we ordered as an additional item, was different from the first two dishes with its rich and sweet flavor, like something between a main course and a dessert. It was delicious. The service was really lovely. For example, when my daughter accidentally dropped the stone oven bread that came with the Crepe Lazania, the staff kindly replaced it with a freshly baked one, which made my daughter very happy. The staff's attentiveness and smiles made it a wonderful dining experience, and we would love to visit again. <November 2021> We ordered Margherita, Crepe Lazania, and Rugala (with 2 types of cheese and sausage). <June 2022> We arrived 10 minutes before opening and were the first customers in the restaurant. As more people came in, the seats quickly filled up, and soon it was full. The staff provided plastic cups of water without ice for the children, which was thoughtful. When asked, my daughter chose between apple juice and orange juice. While we had decided on the pizza menu outside, we hadn't decided on drinks as there was no menu outside. The drink selection was extensive, including alcoholic and soft drinks. When my daughter chose orange juice, the staff brought regular orange juice instead of blood orange juice, but my daughter found it easier to drink. At the time of payment, we noticed that the juice was 100 yen cheaper than on the menu. When we inquired, the staff explained that they had assumed it was for the child and replaced it with regular orange juice without informing us, which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered Margherita and Crepe Lazania again, as well as the Monthly Pizza "Shirasu and Asparagus," which was a great choice. It was a nice contrast to the tomato-based Margherita and Crepe Lazania. Squeezing lime over the pizza added a refreshing touch. My daughter also enjoyed the lime. She loves pizza and was satisfied with two slices each of Margherita and Monthly Pizza (in other words, a total of 3/2 slices). Choosing pizza instead of tofu or yuba in Arashiyama is also a sophisticated choice!

Today (May 12, 2021), I remembered my second visit to "Rugara" which was featured on the Kansai TV show "Yo-i Don!" The last time I visited was on October 26th. I visited "Rugara" again about a month later. This time, I also visited the Emperor's tomb near Arashiyama. I had already decided to have lunch here next time. The restaurant is run by a muscular and handsome Italian chef. He came to Japan following his wife he met in Australia. He entered Japan on a marriage visa and they got married. When they first opened, his twin brother came to help and the restaurant flourished. [Pizzeria Rugara] This time, we sat at a table near the register. Of course, we ordered a different pizza from last time. - PISTACCHIO ¥1700 - 4FORMAGGI ¥1700 We didn't have any alcohol this time, just water for both of us. - 4FORMAGGI (Four Cheese Pizza) with honey The Napoli dough is chewy and the cheese stretches beautifully. We enjoyed it with honey! For the second pizza, we had: - PISTACCHIO (Sausage with pistachio & pistachio sauce) The aroma of pistachio was amazing. We drizzled spicy oil on top and enjoyed it. The chewy dough here is to our liking, with great texture, and the cheese is delicious. We've tried all the items on the menu, but when will we be able to come back next time? PS: It must be because of the GOTO campaign, but compared to a month ago... even though it's a weekday, there are so many people! The sidewalks are overflowing with people, and there are several rickshaws running in a row.

I had planned to visit 5 more imperial tombs, but unfortunately, I got lost and couldn't find some of them, and time was running out as the sun began to set, so I headed back. I arrived in Arashiyama at 2:30 and went straight to have lunch. I was so hungry! While in Nara, I had been visiting soba shops for a while, but it was time for a change, so I had pizza for the first time in a while (^^)/ According to the information on Tabelog, the Italian owner of the restaurant had trained at a famous pizza shop near Karasuma Kitatsukiji in Kyoto, "Goichi Pizza", before opening his own place! I had high expectations for this pizzeria run by an Italian chef. [Pizzeria Rugara] During weekdays, the lunchtime is until 3:00! There were two customers already inside. The place is not very big, with counter seats and table seats. There are also seats on the terrace. I chose a seat near the terrace! The weather was nice, so the doors were fully open for ventilation. There were various delicious-looking beers, but I couldn't drink as I was driving! I suggested to my wife, but she said, "I'll pass today," so we both had water. I took a photo of the wood-fired oven! The Italian chef, wearing a mask, looks handsome. His well-trained arms are strong! First, the classic Margherita pizza for ¥1300. The mozzarella cheese stretched beautifully...(*^^)v The dough was soft like in Naples, and the cheese was extremely delicious. The spicy oil added a nice touch of spiciness. I finished the first slice in no time. For the second one, I had the Vegetarian Pizza for ¥1700. It had red cherry tomatoes, brown shimeji mushrooms, purple onions, and yellow pumpkin. The colorful appearance looked delicious! The pumpkin and purple onions were sweet. It was also delicious with the mineral-rich Himalayan pink salt. Lately, I sometimes can't finish two large pizzas, so I was a little worried, but they were so delicious that I finished them both quickly. If I hadn't already planned dinner for tonight, I would have taken some home for dinner. I would like to revisit when I come back to the Arashiyama area in November to visit the remaining imperial tombs.

The handsome Italian twin chefs and their beautiful Japanese wife run a rare authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurant in Arashiyama. Despite the pandemic, this popular restaurant is 70-80% full, with many foreign customers living in Japan. The service is also excellent. The Italian chef speaks basic Japanese and serves pizza within 1 minute of ordering. They also provide multiple wet towels without asking, and after paying, everyone says "thank you" together. We ordered Margherita for 1300 yen, CALABRESE for 1800 yen, and also got 3 PANZEROTTI (fried pizza) for takeout. Delicious, we will definitely come back!

[2020.6.6 (First Visit)] This restaurant is a place where you can enjoy authentic pizzas, located along the bustling Arashiyama shopping street, a main street in Arashiyama crowded with many tourists, right in front of Tenryu-ji Temple from Togetsukyo Bridge. The restaurant opened on August 13, 2018. The owners of the restaurant are the Italian husband and the local wife from Saga Arashiyama. The husband used to work at the famous pizza restaurant "GOICI PIZZA" near Kyoto Karasuma Kitatetsuji, so you can expect some delicious pizzas here. There is a pizza oven at the back of the restaurant, and pizzas baked in this oven are sure to be delicious. I tried the Margherita and Calabrese pizzas. The dough is thin, soft, and the outer edge is thick and fluffy, providing a variety of textures. The Margherita pizza had stretchy mozzarella cheese with a rich flavor, complemented by a tomato sauce with a hint of basil, allowing you to fully enjoy the classic Margherita taste. The Calabrese pizza, with shimeji mushrooms, pancetta, traditional spicy salami, and mozzarella cheese, captures the taste of the owner's hometown in Calabria. The crunchy texture of shimeji mushrooms and the spiciness of salami enhance the appetite, while the cheese adds a unique flavor. On the second day of my Kyoto trip, I was starting to get a little tired of the light flavors of Japanese food. But then I stumbled upon an Italian restaurant in Arashiyama! I immediately went in and saw they had a proper oven for pizzas, but this time I wanted something with a stronger flavor, so I went for the lasagna! The lasagna had a super rich and intense tomato sauce - it was amazing! I've never had anything like it before, it was so flavorful! And with cheese on top too?! It was the best! I loved it so much, I finished it in no time. This lunch made me so happy and satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal!

You can enjoy the best pizza made by an Italian from southern Italy! I have tried pizza at various places in Kyoto, but this was the best. They had the classic Margherita, but they also had unique options like pistachio pizza that you don't see often in Japan. I was really impressed by how delicious it was! They have a variety of options, so you might have a hard time deciding, but you can also do half and half. The restaurant is popular among foreigners due to its location, and it already has high ratings on Google Maps. It's not yet discovered by Tabelog users, but I predict it will soon be ranked highly here as well, so I want to go there a lot before it gets too crowded!

You can enjoy pizza easily at a shop in Arashiyama♪ It's a pizzeria☆ I had the Margherita and it was delicious☆ Even the crust was tasty, it's the best one♪ What surprised me the most was the kind and handsome chef who explained the menu in detail! It's a lovely shop, so it's definitely going to become more popular in the future♪

Riding the tailwind from Yodo to Arashiyama. By the time I arrived, it was already past 2 o'clock, so I headed to this restaurant that was open all day. The authentic pizza was so satisfying that just one slice filled me up. Arashiyama is also nice and peaceful once you cross the railroad crossing and head north.

I had the Quattro Formaggi pizza and the pizza of the month at this Italian-run restaurant with friendly service. The pizza had a thick Neapolitan-style crust and tasted delicious. The flavors were consistent and I will definitely go back again.
