Yesterday's (09/16/2023) dinner was at Hamamura in Kintetsu Miyakomichi. I usually have the spicy soba here, but this time I tried something different. My partner had the pork bone miso with fried rice set. I had the Chinese soba. The Chinese soba had a gentle soy sauce flavor in the broth. It went down smoothly!

The quick service and the convenience of being able to have a meal in a short time before catching the Shinkansen are great! There are many staff members in the hall, but they mainly just bring the food. The payment is done at a self-service register. The specialty Karashi Soba has a refreshing mustard flavor that is enjoyable even in the hot summer. The spring rolls, however, were not so good.

Location: The restaurant is located at the eastern end of Kintetsu Miyakomichi, near JR Kyoto Station (the sign is easy to find, but the entrance is a bit hidden). I visited for lunch and while other restaurants were packed, this one had a moderate crowd, so I was able to get a table quickly. I ordered a lunch set which included half fried rice, half tempura rice, and the option to add Chinese noodles or spicy mixed noodles. This time, I ordered the half fried rice and Chinese noodles set with two pieces of fried chicken (around 1400 yen). The food came out quickly. The fried rice was flavorful with plenty of ingredients, and the fried chicken was satisfyingly sized. The Chinese noodles were just average, but the thick slices of pork and seasoned bamboo shoots were delicious. Overall, the food was tasty but nothing extraordinary. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the high tourist prices around Kyoto Station. I would recommend this place for a Chinese meal in the area!

I visited before noon. There was no wait, but the restaurant quickly became full. I tried the famous shiso soba and fried rice. Both were delicious. This place definitely lives up to its reputation. I would like to come back here again. Thank you for the meal!

Even though I have been living in Kyoto for a long time, this was my first visit to this restaurant. I arrived right at lunchtime when they opened. There were already about three groups of customers there. I heard that their spicy soba is famous, so I decided to try it! The staff told me to mix it well before eating. It had steamed chicken, shrimp, vegetables, shiitake mushrooms, and wood ear mushrooms. I think there was also shiitake broth in it. It was yakisoba with a thick sauce. It was delicious. The person next to me was having cold noodles, so I definitely want to try that next time.

"Karashi soba" is a yakisoba dish with a slightly spicy sauce. The noodles are thin and straight, with ingredients like shrimp and chicken. We also had a side of "half fried rice", which had a light flavor. Thank you for the meal.

When I visited Kyoto on a weekday at 4 p.m. after a long time, I missed the lunch, but luckily the restaurant was open all day. When I arrived at the station, it was crowded with foreign tourists, so I was prepared to wait, but thanks to the location and time, I didn't have to wait. There was only one group of customers before me and one after me, so it was a slow-paced experience. I was able to leisurely enjoy Kyoto's specialties.

At Kyoto Station, I had some time before catching the Shinkansen back home, so I wasn't very hungry but decided to grab a light meal and a beer. As I walked through the famous shopping street "Miyako Michi" near the Hachijo exit, I noticed a lot of foreign tourists. Eventually, I ended up choosing this restaurant located at the very end. The restaurant had a logo with a face called "Hamamura", which I had seen since I was a child but never actually been inside. I can't remember if it was "Kyoto-style Chinese" or "Cantonese cuisine". I was seated at the counter and after looking at the menu, I decided on the safest option - fried rice and a bottle of beer. The beer was Ebisu Beer (medium size) and I poured it into a glass and drank it down right away. I had overindulged the day before and wasn't feeling great, but the beer tasted good after walking in the scorching heat. The fried rice arrived quickly, and it was decent. I noticed it was a bit oily, but it was tasty. When the food was served, they told me, "The bill is at the self-checkout." I wondered how I was going to pay, but the self-checkout was located near the entrance and was easy to understand. I briefly thought about leaving without paying, but of course, I wouldn't actually do that. Thank you for the meal.

When you come to Kyoto, you must try the karashi soba at Hamamura. I went to the Hamamura near the station for the first time, and although there were many menu options and customers waiting, I was able to enter this restaurant smoothly. I ordered the B set, which came with a mini Tenshinhan as a side dish. The karashi soba had a strong mustard flavor at first, but I got used to it after a few bites, so I added more mustard. However, there was no sharp sensation that is unique to mustard (laughs). The mini Tenshinhan had a dark sauce, and the seasoning was stronger compared to the one at Osho.

I happened to stop by this place by chance. I think it would be even more delicious if it were a little stronger, but I believe it depends on personal preference. The spicy kick of the Chinese noodles was pleasant. It was a taste that made me want to eat it again. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

Hamamura's specialty, spicy soba with mustard sauce. The noodles are topped with a spicy mustard sauce. The spiciness is just right, the ingredients are good, and the price is reasonable. I might not necessarily choose to eat this again next time. I'll try ramen or something else next time. The self-checkout using a barcode scanner is convenient but lacks a bit of charm.

I traveled from Nara to Kasuga Shrine, Abeno, Tenkachaya, Awaji, Oyamazaki/Yamazaki, and Kyoto for a day of iron intake. I got tired, but had to kill another two hours. Eventually, I ended up at Hamamura in Miyakomichi. I took my time and tried their famous fromage soba. It wasn't as impressive as the first time, but it was consistently delicious. I hope to visit their main store someday.

Thank you always for the likes! In the evening, four adults and two children entered the restaurant. We had to wait for about 15 minutes, probably because it was mealtime. This restaurant's specialty is the "karashi ramen," so we ordered that. The chicken salt ramen also looked delicious. The clear, transparent sauce had a strong mustard flavor with a sharp spiciness that becomes addictive. The ingredients included lettuce, carrots, shimeji mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, chicken, and more. The crunchy texture of the lettuce matched well with the sharp spiciness of the mustard, making it delicious. The taste is addictive, so I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again!

I wanted to try the unique mustard ramen that can only be found at a Chinese restaurant in Kyoto, so I headed straight to the shop from the Shinkansen exit. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming to solo diners, being located inside the station. The noodles had a hint of mustard flavor, and when mixed with the sauce, the spiciness and richness blended harmoniously. It's something I might crave occasionally. The self-checkout system at the counter was also a Kyoto touch, making me feel like I was in a popular tourist destination known worldwide.

Near Kyoto Station, there is a Chinese ramen restaurant that is popular for its unique dish called karashi soba. During lunchtime, there may be a line, but it's worth the wait. The karashi soba features noodles in a savory sauce with a spicy mustard that you mix in. It has a good kick to it and is definitely worth trying. The flavor of the Chinese ramen is also delicious, but it would be better if it was served hotter. It's recommended to ask for it to be heated up when ordering.

Hamamura is a Kyoto-style Chinese restaurant established in the 13th year of Taisho era. They are well known for their unique logo resembling a human face. They have a store in the Kintetsu Meitengai Miyakomichi. A must-try dish at Hamamura is their "karashi soba", which is prominently featured on a large poster in front of the store. I ordered the karashi soba (1320 yen). The noodles are coated in homemade karashi sauce and finished with a salty sauce. It's recommended to mix it well as the sharp spiciness is irresistible. It's even spicier than the shrimp and cashew soba I had at Hozen before. The sauce contains vegetables, chicken, shrimp, and wood ear mushrooms, making it delicious when mixed with the noodles. I think it would have been nice to pair it with a half order of Tenshinhan.

I was drawn in by a photo of karashi soba and decided to dine in. I ordered karashi soba with mini fried rice and two pieces of chicken karaage. First, the mini fried rice and karaage arrived. The fried rice had a simple yet delicious taste with a nice crispy texture. The karaage seemed like a pre-made product with a plain taste and small size. As for the karashi soba, it had a strong karashi flavor but the topping sauce was delicious. It was filled with ingredients like shrimp, chicken ham, and plenty of vegetables. It had a gentle and tasty flavor typical of Chinese cuisine in Kyoto.

Well, this time I decided to try something different and ordered a mini Tianjin rice with my meal. The shiso soba is delicious and refreshing, while the Tianjin rice has a color that gives off a sweet and sour vibe, even though it's not actually sweet and sour. When I thought about it, it's like a double dose of thick sauce.

I have been living in Kyoto for over 60 years, but I had never tried the famous "karashi soba" until now. I visited a restaurant known for their karashi soba and decided to share it with my companion along with other dishes. The menu had five types of noodles, two rice dishes, and a few side dishes like spring rolls, fried chicken, and jellyfish salad. We ended up ordering the karashi soba, fried rice, and spring rolls. The karashi soba was a spicy noodle dish with a flavorful mustard sauce, which I found to be delicious. The fried rice was decently spicy, and the spring rolls were also tasty. There are still many other restaurants in Kyoto that serve karashi soba, so I look forward to trying more variations in the future. The restaurant was quite busy, but not to the extent of having long lines like the famous Western-style restaurant next door.

I stopped by with a really hungry stomach. I had the soba with mustard miso sauce and the tonkotsu miso ramen. The mustard has a sharp kick to it. The ramen had thin noodles, which I prefer. I ordered a drink, but it took a while to come out. I asked for the drink first, but it ended up coming out with the ramen. A little deduction for that. The service is incredibly fast! Truly Chinese! I've been here before and the food was delicious, I even went two days in a row, but the taste seems to have slightly declined. Thank you for the meal!
