This time, I had lunch before watching "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". I visited the restaurant on the 11th floor of Isetan around 11:20 am on a weekday. I was seated promptly without having to wait. Although I didn't get a window seat, I could still see the view of Higashiyama. There were a few solo female diners, groups of chatty women, business travelers, and tourists, creating a diverse customer base. I was torn between the Soy Milk Cream Croquette (tax included 2310 yen) and the Futozen Set with Fried Tofu and Fried Yuba (tax included 2970 yen), but ended up choosing the latter. First, they served soy milk with honey. Then came the sesame tofu and raw yuba sashimi, which I enjoyed with a delicious dashi soy sauce. I also got a side of lotus root pickles. Next, there was fluffy oboro tofu that you could refill (although I didn't). The condiments included black sweet radish pickles, bonito flakes, salted kelp, sesame seeds, salt, shichimi, and dashi soy sauce. The Tofu Dengaku featured miso on barley tofu and white miso on yomogi tofu, both of which I love. The main dish included fried tofu coated in popped rice, fried yuba, plum wheat gluten, fried tofu, sweet potato, lotus root, and green beans. There was also rice cooked with thin fried tofu and burdock, as well as kudzu tofu and oboro kelp soup. The dessert consisted of soy milk baumkuchen, soy milk rare cheesecake, and soy milk chocolate cake, served with black soy coffee. The elegant taste of the coffee complemented the tofu dishes well. I left the restaurant around 12:10 pm, just as a few groups were starting to wait for a table. Despite initially thinking the portions were small, the delicious food filled me up nicely. It was a delightful meal.
