In September 2022, I stayed at the traditional inn "Taihashiro" located near the gate of Monjudo and at the foot of the revolving bridge in Amanohashidate. The old building has been stylishly renovated inside, creating a cozy and comfortable space. The hot spring bath is not very spacious, but they provide free tickets to a nearby bathhouse called Chie no Yu. For dinner, I started with a stylish dish of scallops and pear sauce, followed by fresh sashimi of Spanish mackerel and sea bream. The Yoshino hot pot with chocolate pork and autumn vegetables had a gentle Kansai-style seasoning and a perfect thickness of kudzu sauce. The deep-fried sea bass in shredded phyllo dough was also creatively done, and the local rice "Tango Koshihikari" was delicious. Although they didn't use expensive ingredients, the carefully prepared dishes left me fully satisfied. The breakfast was also excellent, featuring local horse mackerel, flavorful fried fish cakes, and a Kansai-style dashi-flavored omelette that I loved. I also enjoyed the pickled fish roe, which paired perfectly with the rice. In the morning, I even got to see the revolving bridge opening. Overall, the inn had a nostalgic yet stylish atmosphere, excellent service from the staff, a prime location for sightseeing, delicious dishes made with local ingredients and attention to detail, and only minor drawbacks like narrow and steep stairs. It was a wonderful place to stay.

For dinner in Miyatsu, it was crab! I stayed at the Marriott, so I took a sightseeing boat from Miyatsu Port to Ichinomiya on the north side of Amanohashidate. The weather was a bit unstable, but I walked across Amanohashidate. It's time for an early lunch. It's better to go early at tourist spots. I have to use a coupon! So, I checked the posters outside the shops (the app is quite hard to read...) and was tempted by the limited 10 servings of turban shell rice bowl here. I was also considering the soba shop across the street, but since it had just opened, I had no waiting time. The view from the window was beautiful autumn leaves. The seats were sunken kotatsu, so I could relax. I had walked quite a bit, so it was much appreciated. The dishes were also nice. It was a refined taste and appearance. Not a heavy meal, but a bowl. I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal!

As it is a tourist spot, the restaurants are flourishing. However, just because of that doesn't mean the food is delicious. This restaurant is one of those cases. While the ingredients themselves may be good, the seafood bowl has small portions, so honestly, it doesn't feel satisfying. Similarly, the amount of rice is also small. Considering the price, the cost performance is poor.

Yesterday's thunderstorm seemed to have improved the mood somewhat. However, the weather remains unsettled with occasional sunshine, clouds, and thunderstorms, so it's best to explore before the weather changes. Therefore, I received a seal at the nearby Moto-Ise-Kogo Shrine from the inn and luckily found parking at the lowest price parking near Amanohashidate, so I strolled around Amanohashidate while visiting Amanohashidate Shrine and then returned. The weather was not the only concern, as it would be the limit to walk with a stroller while holding my older child's hand. This season, it seems that some people are enjoying swimming at the beach. Everyone has their own way of enjoying themselves. I was looking for a place to use the "Miyazu Amanohashidate Travel Campaign Local Coupon" that I received without any prior information. Just then, when my guide saw me standing around looking bored, I showed him the discount coupon, and he said it was usable, so I decided to use it right away. It was fortunate that we were able to enter the restaurant before the children started making noise, even though it was a bit early for lunch. We were led to a sunken kotatsu table on the second floor. My husband ordered the "Hanamori Seafood Bowl," while I ordered the "Azou Goshu." I also asked for two sets of children's tableware in anticipation of sharing with the children. The rice with small fish flakes did not need to be a large portion, as there was already plenty, so I borrowed the flakes for the older child and the white rice for the younger child. The set included a sashimi platter with three types of fish, three small side dishes, white rice, and soup, allowing us to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes from Miyazu. As always, sharing meals with children who constantly need attention is not easy. I later found out that the inn was related to Yosano Akiko, which was quite a mysterious connection to feel while visiting this place. Just thinking that I had touched the same air across time made me feel a sense of reverence.

On a holiday lunchtime, no waiting. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the adjacent souvenir shop is nice. I hesitated between the "Seafood Bowl" for 1,600 yen (excluding tax) and the "Luxurious Seafood Bowl" for 2,200 yen (excluding tax) after looking at the menu photos. In the end, I chose the "Seafood Bowl" and regretted it (bitter smile). The seafood bowl was quite plain compared to the menu. The taste was good, so I won't complain. The service from the female staff who guided me to the parking lot was a bit disappointing, and not being able to receive a receipt at the payment was a downside.

During my trip to Amanohashidate, the lunch was delicious, but the prices were average. There are other places with delicious seafood as well. The highlight was getting a seat by the veranda-like area, where I could enjoy my meal while gazing at the clear river leading to Amanohashidate right in front of me. It was like a dream, even though most of the seats are indoors.

Taishokuzakura Inn, located by the riverside near Amanohashidate and Kaisenkyo Bridge. The parking lot is a bit far away, but all the rooms have tatami flooring! The hot spring is relaxing and convenient, although a bit small. It's a bit of a hassle with the current restrictions on the number of guests. However, the food is delicious, and the staff at the inn are polite and welcoming. I enjoyed taking a morning bath as well. Thank you for the wonderful stay! (*^_^*)

I visited a restaurant in Amanohashidate with the intention of trying their seafood bowl, but ended up getting a set with mini udon instead. The seafood bowl had a variety of toppings, but the portion was a bit small. The mini udon also may not be enough for men. I wish they would add more toppings to the seafood bowl. Also, I think it would be easier to search if they changed the restaurant name on Tabelog to "Azou".

Since it's been four months since I visited, I'll post a memo for myself. While traveling to Amanohashidate, I visited the ancient temple Chion-ji in Miyazu and then had lunch. Due to the state of emergency in Kyoto Prefecture, many shops were closed, but I stumbled upon this charming restaurant. Upon entering, I discovered it was an inn established in the early Meiji era, with roots tracing back to the Edo period, and associated with the poet Yosano Akiko. The atmosphere and hospitality were excellent. The set meal and seafood bowl I had were delicious, with fresh seafood typical of Miyazu. The sweet and succulent oysters were particularly memorable. Considering the inn's history and reputation, the prices were quite reasonable. When things settle down, I would love to visit again and perhaps stay overnight.

I want to see the beautiful scenery of Amanohashidate, feel the sea breeze in the blue sky, and encounter delicious Tango cuisine! Thinking like this, I found a restaurant near the rotating bridge of Taikyo on the south side of Amanohashidate that exuded a nostalgic atmosphere. From the menu, I saw they had a "Turban Shell Bowl" which I had never seen in Kyoto city before, so as a shellfish lover, I ordered it first. One of my friends ordered the soba noodles. The atmosphere was the main focus when choosing a lunch spot in Amanohashidate. We had hoped to try the Italian cuisine at Bunshosou on a previous visit, but it was temporarily closed! It seems to require reservations. We were recommended to visit Taikyorou, the sister restaurant of a ryokan located next to Senjou in Chitose. The exterior had a quaint charm, while the interior had a casual atmosphere. There were many young couples dining, and it seemed crowded during lunchtime. We waited a bit at the entrance. They had terrace seating with a view of the sea resembling a canal, as well as sunken kotatsu seating in some rooms. The menu consisted of simple dishes like rice bowls and noodles. Unfortunately, the luxurious seafood bowl for 2200 yen was sold out. The Turban Shell Bowl had thin slices of turban shell on top of fluffy scrambled eggs. It was about the size of one small turban shell. When I asked for some sansho pepper, they said they didn't have any. It was a letdown for a Kyoto resident like me. Perhaps due to the influence of the stories of Anjin and Kuraou, and Sanshodaifu in this area, they might not like sansho pepper here. Next time, I'll have to bring my own sansho pepper! I also noticed the difference in food culture between Kyoto city and outside Kyoto, such as the seasoning of sansho pepper and shichimi, as well as the differences in soy sauce and vinegar. This area has unique and wonderful shops like Iio Jozo Vinegar and Mukai Shuzo Sake Brewery.

The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Amanohashidate Station. The interior is very beautiful! The view from the window had some autumn leaves, which added a nice touch. The food was delicious and served quickly. I was very satisfied! I was lucky to still be able to order the limited 10 servings of turban shell rice bowl for the day.

I felt that this souvenir shop in the middle of the tea shop street in Amanohashidate was the worst. It seems like Amanohashidate has become too touristy, and many shops, including the market and seafood wholesalers, offer low-quality items. This shop was the worst for me. The recommended clam sake steamed dish was actually pre-made and lacked the deliciousness and aroma of clams, tasting bad and smelly. Unbelievable. The recommended grilled turban shell dish was also pre-made and the worst I've ever had. Of course, the seafood bowl was nothing special and the shop is disrespectful to trick tourists. I called the staff over and made a big complaint. And the prices are high! What kind of shop is this? Isn't it surprising? Everyone comes to the Sea of Japan and wants to eat seafood, even if the price is high! I definitely want them to focus on the ingredients and taste, and not compromise on that. The customer service is very good. It seems like they also run a famous inn, so there were no issues with that. It's about the taste! Please stop pre-making dishes! And don't recommend them!

Restaurant located at the foot of Amanohashidate with a hotel attached. I had lunch there. Due to COVID, the menu was limited. There wasn't anything I particularly wanted to eat, so I ordered the most popular dish, the seafood bowl. Despite being by the sea, the seafood didn't seem exceptional as you can tell from the photos. Anyway, it arrived quickly. It had sweet shrimp, salmon, salmon roe, squid, octopus, sea eel, and more. It was decently tasty, not bad. The portion was on the smaller side. This inn was a favorite of the poet Yosano Akiko. The service from the staff and the atmosphere inside the restaurant were nice. Thank you for the meal.

If you are traveling to Amanohashidate, I would definitely want to come back here. The delicious food made me feel that way. The steamed crab on the hot stone was especially exquisite, making me want to come back just for that. Truly delicious food can make life happier. Everything was so delicious, it was a place where memories of enjoying good food were created (laughs).

It was a bit late so most of the dishes were sold out (sweat). I had to give up on the extravagant seafood bowl and settled for a regular one! Mmm! The sweet shrimp was even more delicious than I imagined...! The view was also nice, so I decided to add another dish to the seafood bowl. The drunk clams were more than enough for two people! Next time, I want to try the extravagant one with crab too (;o;)

After enjoying Amanohashidate, we decided on this restaurant based on its exterior. The limited edition seafood bowl was... okay in terms of presentation, but honestly, I'm not sure if the seafood was fresh. It wasn't bad, but maybe this is what you get in a touristy area. The grilled crab that I ordered separately was delicious, but the meat was difficult to pick out neatly. The view from the restaurant was beautiful, and it would have been perfect if we could have sat by the window.

Located in a prime location right in front of the revolving bridge of Amanohashidate, this inn offers a wonderful blend of traditional Japanese style rooms, delicious food, and exceptional hospitality. Many famous figures, including Yosano Akiko, have loved this historic inn. The rooms overlook the revolving bridge (which rotates when boats pass through), providing a unique view of Amanohashidate. Relaxing with a beer in the room while enjoying this picturesque scenery is simply the best. The price for one adult for this stay is 18,700 yen (including two meals and tax). Check-in is at 2pm and check-out is at 11am. You can arrive early and explore the nearby attractions, visit the bathhouse at the sister inn Bunshosou, or enjoy the day-use hot spring next to Amanohashidate Station. Now, let's talk about the dinner menu for the day: Fried walnut tofu, Autumn colors platter, Delicious Echizen shrimp, Steamed sea bream, Grilled Kuwai, Duck sukiyaki, Blackthroat seaperch tempura, Sweet potato rice, Red miso soup, and Dessert of the day. The dinner menu showcases the bounty of the sea and mountains, with autumn flavors infused throughout. The detailed explanations and excellent service add to the overall experience. The tempura blackthroat seaperch was especially delicious. Surrounded by delicious food, it's impossible not to enjoy some drinks. Starting with draft beer, moving on to plum wine on the rocks, and then switching to sake (Joetsu "Ayumasaomune"), it was a fantastic evening. Now, for breakfast: Red sweet potato vinegar from Miyanoue Soy Sauce, Pickled Miyanoue red seaweed, Yosano silk tofu, Miyanoue kettle-boiled whitebait, Miyanoue delicacy pickled mackerel, Today's dried fish from Miyanoue, Famous Miyanoue black fish cake and fish paste, Vegetables from Miyanoue's contracted farmer Wakuta, Egg from the mountain demon with a golden club, Tamba Amanohashidate clams miso soup. Surrounded by delicious seafood and vegetables, the chewy Tamba Amanohashidate rice was irresistible. It's strange how you can eat so much more when traveling compared to at home. The pickled mackerel... as the staff mentioned, just that alone could make you eat 2-3 bowls of rice. Right in front of the revolving bridge, right next to Bunshosan. It's cozy and warm, with a welcoming atmosphere. Amanohashidate has many charming inns, but if I were to revisit, this would definitely be one of the inns I would love to stay at again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I chose this inn for my trip to Tango Peninsula. I didn't know that Amanohashidate has hot springs! The location is great, the food is highly rated, and the atmosphere of the inn seemed nice, so I decided to stay here. It turned out to be really good! First of all, the location. Right in front of the rotating bridge, so you can see it go up at the right time. And Amanohashidate is right there. The Bodhisattva statue is also nearby. The atmosphere of the inn is calm with a Showa retro feel. The bath, at least for women, is clean and has a cute retro tile design. Plus, you can also use the bath at their sister inn, Bunjuso, and they provide tickets for the day-use hot spring near the station. So, I was able to relax in the bath before heading home the next day. The meals are visually appealing with cute plating. It's not super luxurious, but I enjoyed it enough. Inns right in the middle of tourist spots often feel a bit stingy, but this one was completely different. The innkeeper? was very attentive and made me feel very warm. I thought it would be a nice place to bring my parents someday.

I feel like eating fresh oysters♪ I suddenly decided to go to Taizaikyo Restaurant in Amanohashidate. On the way there via the Kyoto Jukan Expressway, I called and was told they don't accept lunch reservations for the same day. When I asked about parking, they said to park at a nearby paid parking lot for 600 yen per day. If you stay at the inn, there seems to be a free parking lot available. I forgot to take a photo of the front of the restaurant (^_^;) This is a photo from the back (taken from above the revolving bridge). They guided me to a seat where I could see the revolving bridge, but the loud conversation of the family next to me made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. Even though there were plenty of other empty seats, I wonder why they tried to pack us in from the back... First came the oysters @ 1550 yen. Hmm. They were delicious, but for the price, they seemed a bit small? I was expecting a creamier texture. The Hana Mori seafood bowl @ 1950 yen had sweet shrimp, scallops, salmon, squid, ikura, conger eel, sea bream, octopus, etc... Underneath the seafood, the rice was tightly packed. It's hard to explain... I was imagining a fluffier rice. It felt like there was too much rice compared to the amount of fish. I couldn't help but feel disappointed as I couldn't help but think about the price. I came all the way from Osaka to eat here, so I apologize for being critical. From other seats, you could see views like this.

We visited this restaurant in mid-May. We are a couple in our late 50s. We rented bicycles from Kasamatsu Park and rode to the other side of the river. It was lunchtime, so we decided to try this highly-rated restaurant we found on Tabelog. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. While other restaurants in the area had a typical cafeteria feel, this one had a welcoming entrance that stood out. The inside of the restaurant lived up to our expectations. My wife ordered a regular seafood bowl, and I ordered one with udon. Unfortunately, despite the good atmosphere, we were disappointed with the seafood bowl. As others have mentioned, the rice was packed tightly like pressed sushi. The seafood was ordinary, and the balance between the sashimi and rice was off. Additionally, the udon was not served hot and had cooled down. Overall, it was a letdown considering the nice ambiance of the restaurant.

Near Amanohashidate, I tried to make a reservation by phone but was told they don't accept same-day reservations, so I went there directly. The parking lot was full with priority given to guests staying overnight, so I had to park at a nearby paid parking lot. I arrived around noon on Saturday and was seated right away. I was able to order the limited 10 servings of Turban shell rice bowl. Both the seafood bowl and Turban shell rice bowl were delicious as expected.
