I visited in July this year. I was worried if the riverside dining area was still open after the typhoon passed, but luckily I was able to have a meal there. The temperature was relatively low, and it was actually a bit cold at the riverside, but the inn provided a half-tent for us, so we could comfortably enjoy our meal. The riverside kaiseki meal was quite satisfying with a generous amount of dishes, and I ended up feeling very full! It was a unique experience that I can't easily have in Tokyo, so I am very happy. I would love to visit again when I come to Kyoto, preferably staying at the inn!

【Visit Date】Weekday at 11:30 AM 【Reservation】Made reservation about 3 weeks in advance 【Crowdedness】Riverbed seating was at 90% capacity Finally got to have lunch at the riverbed. The menu outside the restaurant had lunch options for around 3000 yen, but it seemed like most people were ordering the course menu (priced at 8900 yen). The sashimi was thick and delicious. It did feel a bit cold, but the service from the staff was great. They even offered to drive us back to Kibune when we mentioned that we wanted to visit Kibune Shrine before leaving. Despite being busy, the staff actively took photos for us, making it a memorable experience.

I had never been to a riverside dining experience before, but I decided to go this time because it's the season for it and I've never been to Kibune Shrine. The river really flows beneath the floor! It was so cool! I got really excited. There were servers dressed in kimonos who explained things and brought out various dishes and tea. The food was ordinary, but the atmosphere was so charming that it made everything taste delicious. The somen noodles were very thin, elegant, and tasty. It was a wonderful experience.

Walking or taking a bus from Kibune-guchi to Kibune Shrine, you will come across a side road next to the river where a large board is set up, allowing you to dine on the river. You can enjoy a luxurious meal with an abundance of Japanese cuisine! Japanese food is the best! I'm glad to have been born in Japan! Since it's a high-class restaurant, it's better to go when you have around 30,000 yen in your wallet!

Kibune-guchi Station is the closest shop and they offer a pick-up service from the station. Kibune can get crowded, so bus tours are popular. We drove there and the staff took our car to a private parking lot after we handed over the keys. They also arranged for the car to be brought back to the front of the shop before we left, which was great. The staff happily took lots of photos of us in front of the shop before we left. The food in Kibune is not particularly outstanding for the price, so it's best to go for the cheapest option. We tried the winter button hot pot at Beniya and it was delicious. Kibune's kaiseki meals are not impressive, but having sukiyaki on the riverside is a good option. We made a reservation for lunch, but we were not very hungry after walking in the heat. We left some of the bitter appetizers and edamame, but the older staff member insisted we finish everything, making us uncomfortable. The space at Beniya is spacious and offers a nice open atmosphere. Despite the incident with the older staff member, the other staff were friendly. Next time, we will try a different restaurant.

I went to the long-established restaurant Beniya. The temperature in the central part of Kyoto city is an abnormal 36℃, but near the shop it is around 27-28℃, and by the riverside it's even cooler at 24-25℃. It's advisable for women to bring an extra layer as it can get chilly. There was no rain the day before, so we were able to enjoy dining by the riverside, but if there is a sudden shower or rain on the day, you will have to eat indoors. Beniya does not allow cancellations even in case of rain (cancellation fees apply), so please be mindful of this. The meal, starting from edamame as an appetizer to sashimi, grilled sweetfish, and somen noodles, was all delicious. The only downside was the lack of friendliness from the server who brought the dishes. It was a shame.

In the morning, it was clear skies! Just 30 minutes before we arrived, there was a heavy rain (╹◡╹) But when we arrived, the weather cleared up and we enjoyed our meal in the fresh air. The staff, including Nakai-san, provided excellent service and we had a delightful dining experience ❤️❤️ From the beautiful appetizers to the sashimi, ayu fish, and somen noodles, we had a wonderful time (^-^)❤️ Hopefully next year will be sunny too! We will visit again next year ❤️

I visited a riverside dining area. Unfortunately, the weather was not great, but it was cool and the refreshing breeze by the river created a pleasant atmosphere. I recommend visiting at least once. The food was not exceptionally high quality, but the prices were reasonable for a riverside dining experience. The female proprietors were all very kind, and I had a happy time there.

I have been to Kibune's riverside dining many times, but many of the restaurants there do not offer great meals. This time, while in Kyoto and with clear weather, I made a same-day reservation. Upon entering the restaurant, the staff were welcoming and I had high hopes. I was guided to a riverside dining area, which was spacious and relaxing. The servers brought out the dishes promptly. The tempura was delicious, and the somen noodles were also tasty. The somen noodles here are apparently sourced from elsewhere and are very thin and delicious. The edamame tofu was elegant and made a great beer snack. They even brought out more rice when we ran out. It was a quiet night with few customers, so the service was excellent, and all the dishes were satisfying and delicious.

Today, I went to Kibune's riverside restaurant to escape the summer heat. It's much cooler here compared to the city. While I was eating, it started raining, but they kindly moved us inside the main building. We were able to relax and enjoy our meal. The lunch set cost 6000 yen. From the driver who guided us to the staff, the service was excellent. Thank you for the wonderful experience! (•́✧•̀)

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Kyoto. It's a bit far from the city center, but it was definitely worth the visit! There were not many foreign tourists, so you can really feel the traditional Kyoto atmosphere. The food at Beniya was delicious, and the staff were very polite and kind. They even offer a shuttle service to the station, which is very convenient. I would love to visit again in the future.

The course at Kawayuka seems a bit on the expensive side, but it was very satisfying. The food was enjoyable for both the eyes and the taste buds, typical of Kyoto cuisine where you feel satisfied after 80% full rather than stuffed. Depending on the season, it might be a bit chilly. The sound of the river is quite loud, so voices are hard to hear. In June, around 11 am, you can be seated right away as many restaurants were calling out. It's a bit downstream from Kibune, so it's better to go by car. An old man will hold onto your keys and park for you. The road is narrow, so be careful if you're not a good driver.

I went for lunch on a regular day! I ordered a 6000 yen course! The restaurant had a great view of the river in front of it, it was so lovely! It had rained earlier, so it was empty. I got slightly wet from the rain but I was able to enjoy the amazing view, so it was worth it! I had grilled ayu fish, somen noodles, tofu dishes, etc.! The grilled ayu fish was especially delicious! They served white rice at the end, but I wished they had brought it out a bit earlier with the other dishes.... The food was presented nicely and tasted good, but it was quite mild in flavor! I didn't feel very full (haha) but it was okay since I had plans to explore Kyoto afterwards. The restaurant only offers courses that cost more than 6000 yen, so it's quite pricey. However, they don't push alcohol on you and they serve delicious tea for free! Considering the view and the spacing between tables, the price is justified. They offer free shuttle service from Kurama-Kibune Station! The driver took lots of nice photos of us in front of the restaurant on the way back! Their service was excellent and I was very happy.

<Lunch> Riverside Meal Set [6,000 yen] 6,000 yen per person (including tax) - Small dishes (3 items) - Sashimi - Grilled dish - Cold dish - Miso-marinated dish - Clear soup - Pickles - Silk-wrapped somen noodles (may be substituted with another dish) - Rice - Dessert Finally got to experience dining by the riverside! It was an amazing setting. I visited at the end of May. Stepping into the riverside area from the early summer heat outside, I immediately felt a refreshing coolness. Among the dishes, the Kyoto-style fresh wheat gluten was incredibly delicious! The maple leaf-shaped fresh wheat gluten in the small dishes and the miso-marinated fresh wheat gluten served halfway through were both chewy and had a great miso flavor. I was a bit sad that the sweetfish cooled down quickly due to the coldness, but the bitterness of the butterbur sprout served with it created a nice harmony with the sweetfish's umami. My personal favorite was the silk-wrapped somen noodles. The beautifully arranged somen noodles were visually pleasing and tasted delicious! It was fortunate that I could try something other than somen, as they sometimes offer alternatives in May. Not only the food, but the location was also very soothing. Having a meal by the river's murmuring water made me forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. Moreover, all the staff members were kind and attentive like mothers. They promptly refilled my tea and took the time to explain things even when they were busy, showing a warm hospitality.

Kibune's riverside dining was great, with many different shops to choose from. Among them, Beniya was the best. It was a bit of a walk to Kibune Shrine, but choosing Beniya was worth it. The staff were all very kind and friendly, and the driver who drove us to the station was also very kind. The riverside dining area was spacious and lovely. It was a great experience, and I will definitely come back. The food was reasonably priced and had great value for money.

I ordered the Botan Gozen course. It was my first time trying it, and it was very easy to eat, not too greasy, and I could eat it heartily. They also have riverside dining in the summer, but this time it was during the autumn foliage season, so I enjoyed it in a Japanese-style room. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was charming and lovely.

This was my first time experiencing dining by the riverside ⭐︎ It was the end of summer and a weekday, but the place was bustling with group tourists. We were guided to our seats, and when we sat down, I was amazed. The temperature change was so drastic! I had been sweating just a moment ago, but suddenly it became cool. Eating in this kind of atmosphere really enhances the flavor of the food! The ayu fish with roe was delicious, and although I forgot to take a picture, the somen noodles were also tasty. The warm hospitality and lovely riverside setting made the meal even more enjoyable. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I visited in the first half of September. It was a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded and very comfortable. The sound of the rushing water near the Kawazu Waterfall was refreshing. It was slightly cool as we were seated above the water. The appetizers were colorful and the ayu fish was delicious, you could even eat the head. The tempura and somen noodles were also delicious. Additionally, we were served rice in a wooden rice container, allowing us to enjoy plenty of delicious rice. It was great that we could park our car on the way to Kifune Shrine. The food was fantastic and the hospitality was excellent! I will definitely visit again!

When it comes to summer in Kyoto, Kibune's riverside dining platforms are a must-visit. I went there for the first time in 2 years. Honestly, the setting is the main dish and the food is secondary, but the kaiseki cuisine served was standard without anything particularly noteworthy. I forgot to take a picture of the final rice dish with shredded mountain pepper and red miso soup. They offered seconds, but I needed more shredded mountain pepper to consider it. Enjoying standard Kyoto cuisine like young ayu fish, tempura of fresh wheat gluten, and pickles by the riverside is enough reason to visit again, so I left the restaurant looking forward to my next visit.

This is a restaurant inn in Kibune, Kyoto, known for its course meals featuring salt-grilled "wakayu" fish that were swimming until just before being caught. You can enjoy a lovely riverside dining experience here. The atmosphere in Kibune is unique and serene, making it a favorite place for many. The restaurant was busy, with a lively headwaiter managing a large number of customers. The riverside seating was a first for me, and it was a refreshing experience. The course meals range from 7980 yen, and I chose the 10600 yen course, which was a delightful escape from reality. The dishes included appetizers, sashimi, grilled fish, tempura, and more. The riverside seating offered a stunning view of the flowing river, creating a peaceful and relaxing ambiance. The attentive waitress added to the experience with her warm and friendly service. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience in a picturesque setting.

This is an atmospheric place. Kibune is amazing! Since my job doesn't allow me to make reservations in advance, I took advantage of a summer day off and went on a date wearing a yukata. We were able to enter without a reservation and had a very enjoyable meal.
