This is a shop that I always stop by when I get off at Kurama and head to Kibune in the summer. It is located by the mountain gate on the Kibune side. This is my third visit. The riverside dining in Kibune always seems a bit high-end and unattainable, but at this place called Denbei, you can fully enjoy the essence of riverside dining at a reasonable price. When you go down to the riverside, the sweat that was pouring down just moments ago feels like a lie. The cool air envelops your whole body and invites you to a different world. As a big fan of beer, I naturally ordered a beer. The taste of the first sip of beer here is just amazing... The taste of the beer here is unmatched. It's the best. As for the food, the prices are incredibly reasonable compared to other high-end inns. And yet, the taste is still top-notch. On this day, I had the mountain vegetable and grated yam soba set, and the kama-meshi set. Soba and kama-meshi seem to be their specialty here. The kama-meshi set comes with grilled ayu fish. The kama-meshi is cooked individually after you order it, and the aroma when it's done is very rich. The soba set comes with rice, as well as side dishes, onsen tamago, and sweet bean paste-filled fu-mochi, so it's quite a generous portion and you can even have it without rice. The 200 yen discount is a nice bonus. I've only been here in the summer, but I highly recommend the riverside dining in the summer. You will definitely be drawn into a paradise-like world in an instant.

I visited Kibune's riverside dining area during its final season. It's a reasonably priced restaurant where you can experience the atmosphere of Kibune's riverside dining. I ordered soba noodles with tempura, and started with dipping the soba noodles in salt and enjoying the delicious 80% buckwheat soba noodles. Make sure to finish with soba broth.

Because it's summer, I wanted to go to a riverside terrace in Kyoto! I fulfilled my wish by visiting Kibune's riverside terrace. Since reservations are not accepted at Denbei, we had to wait by signing in on the day. It was a Saturday, the start of a three-day weekend, so we assumed it would be crowded and left the International Conference Center at 10 a.m. to drive to Kibune. We arrived at the restaurant at around 10:30 a.m. One person got out to sign in, then we parked the car and all went to visit the shrine. The restaurant opened at 11:15 a.m. that day, and we were able to get in on the first round with minimal wait time. The turnover was relatively fast with many solo customers, but the line moved quickly, so early sign-in is a must. The chilled soba was smooth and delicious, and although the grilled ayu had little meat, we were able to enjoy the coolness of the riverside terrace and the atmosphere, making it a satisfying experience.

The riverbed around here has many expensive lunch options, but we visited here because you can eat delicious soba made with spring water without a reservation. We arrived around 10:40 on a weekday, and they opened at 11:15. We were just the sixth group in line and barely made it for the first seating. If we had waited for the second seating, we would have had to wait for an hour. The soba was delicious, of course, but my friend said the onigiri they ordered was also very tasty.

This is my second visit. You can only enjoy riverside dining at this price in Kibune. I arrived at the store at 10:15 and was lucky to be the first in line as no one was waiting. About 20 minutes before opening, papers were placed at the entrance indicating riverside and indoor seating, where you write your full name in katakana, number of people, and the time of arrival. When your name is called, you enter the restaurant. After placing your order, you are directed to go down the red stairs to your chosen seat. There are only 6 riverside tables, and I chose the middle table on the left side just like last time. This seat offers a better view of the scenery and the flow of the river compared to the tables on the upstream side. I enjoyed the end of summer listening to the sound of the river and the chirping of the cicadas. The tempura soba, onigiri, and ice-cold beer were exceptionally delicious. Both the soba and tempura were more generous in portion than I expected, and I was very satisfied.

It's incredibly cool here. I didn't have to wait long to get in since I arrived 15 minutes before opening. The dashi soba was delicious, with a strong bonito flavor. The tempura was crispy and tasty. The beer was great too. I definitely want to come back.

The cold dashi soba was delicious. It was my first time squeezing lime over it, which added a refreshing taste. I stopped by on my way to visit a shrine in the hot weather, but I was disappointed that the riverside seating was closed due to high water levels.

Since it was the day after a typhoon, the river had a lot of water and the riverside seating was closed. However, this place offers the best value for money in the area. Reservations are not accepted, so you have to wait in line. Since the riverside seating was closed this time, it was okay to line up about 20 minutes before opening. If the riverside seating had been open, I would have lined up over an hour in advance, so I used that time to visit Kifune Shrine. The bus from Kifune-guchi was not running in the morning, so I walked for nearly 30 minutes, but I was able to enjoy the negative ions and natural cooling. The soba noodles were thin and elegant. They recommended trying them with salt first, and I really liked it. The broth with bonito and kelp was also delicious. The hot tempura was perfect as a beer snack. I would like to try the riverside seating next time. It was a rare experience to see the river with a higher water level than usual.

When I visited Denbee in Kibune, I tried their riverbed soba which was so delicious that I felt like coming back every year. Although there is usually a long wait, you can pass the time by visiting the shrines nearby. The soba itself was delicious, the tempura was crispy, and you could taste the quality of the ingredients. Above all, the customer service was excellent. They could probably fit in more tables, but I appreciated that they maintained a good distance for enjoying the riverbed. This increased my overall satisfaction with the experience.

Located on the way from Kurama-dera to Kibune Shrine, this restaurant has a spacious interior with two floors. We dined on the second floor. The cold water served was delicious, sourced from the local spring. We had the "tenzaru" dish, which was even more delicious than at famous restaurants in Kyoto city. It was perfect for our thirsty throats after crossing the mountains.

The area around Kibune was full of high-end shops, but at this restaurant, Denbei, you can experience dining by the river for only 2000 yen with a tempura set. We arrived right at 11:00 am on a weekday and there were already 11 groups waiting. We were called in after about 40 minutes. The food was delicious and we felt the early signs of autumn. The food and atmosphere were both great, and I would love to visit again.

I visited this restaurant with a friend around 11:30 before heading to Kifune Shrine. We wanted to have lunch at a riverside terrace, and this place seemed more reasonably priced compared to others we found during our search. However, it was still quite expensive everywhere we looked. We arrived at 11:30, but had to wait until around 12:30 to be seated, so we waited for a little over an hour. It's a good idea to decide on your order in advance since they take it when they call your name. Despite the hot weather, the riverside terrace was very cool and pleasant. I had the tempura soba, which was delicious and filling. It would have been even better if the tempura was a bit crispier. The service from the lady was very pleasant, and we had a good lunch. Thank you very much!

At the sudden request of my friend, we went to Kifune Shrine and Kurama. It was lunchtime, so we were looking for a riverside restaurant to dine at. Most of the popular places were already full. The only available option had to cancel their riverside seating due to light rain. Even though there were empty seats inside, we had to wait a long time to be seated after ordering. The service and overall experience at this restaurant in a tourist area left a lot to be desired.

On the way to Kibune Shrine, we found this restaurant and waited for about an hour and a half before finally being seated around 2:30 pm. Once we sat down, our order arrived promptly! I ordered the grated yam soba, and it was incredibly delicious!! It was the best soba I've ever had! The soba noodles were chewy and hard to describe, but I was truly impressed!! I think it's worth waiting in line for a long time to eat here!! I also indulged in some tempura and rice, but I was so full afterwards haha. The atmosphere of the town was nice! I saw a lovely couple walking by and couldn't resist taking a picture of them.. Sending this lovely couple this photo!

I visited around noon on a weekday. I intended to hike from Kurama to Kibune, but it turned out to be a full-on mountain climb! I arrived in Kibune exhausted. While the noodle shop upstream from Kibune Shrine looked appealing, I chose Denbei. Despite it being a weekday, there was about a 40-minute wait. Other nearby restaurants seemed to only offer set meals at high prices and required reservations. Denbei, on the other hand, mainly served soba noodles and felt more affordable. I ordered the tempura soba and warm tempura soba. They asked me to wait at a table by the river. Due to COVID, there were only six tables for four people each by the river. It was cooler by the river than on the road where I had been waiting, and I was still in my sweaty clothes, risking catching a cold (laughs). I should have ordered the warm soba. The soba was made of 80% buckwheat flour. They advised me to try a bite or two with salt first. The soba had a firm texture, not mushy. The tempura included two shrimp and various vegetables for 2000 yen. I think the warm soba broth was made from seafood, maybe sardines. The atmosphere was nice, and I was very satisfied.

From Kuramadera Temple to Kifune Shrine, we took the mountain path and visited Kifune Shrine before entering the restaurant. We chose a table instead of dining on the riverside platform (as it was not yet the right time). There were two adults in our group. We ordered grated yam soba and seasonal sudachi soba. Both the soba and soba broth were delicious. The prices were reasonable for this area. It's easy to access and I would recommend it.

Located right in front of the road leading from Kuramadera Temple to Kifune Shrine, this soba restaurant is like heaven after climbing the mountain. The soba tasted even better after the climb, soothing my tired body. I got a bit carried away with ordering tempura and dipping sauce, so the price ended up being a bit high, but it was a well-deserved treat after finishing the climb!

I wanted to visit the Kawayuka in Kyoto in autumn, but since I had already been to Kamogawa, I decided to challenge Kurama this time. I was really looking forward to enjoying nagashi somen right in front of the murmuring stream, but due to time constraints, it was not possible. Instead, I chose this place which was open early and did not take up much time with the course menu. I waited from before opening and managed to get a great seat! Although I couldn't see the water flowing down the river, the atmosphere was enjoyable enough, and it was very cool here... It was a different world, even though it was cold that day. It really felt like a refreshing summer retreat. Ah, so healing. The soba set for 2400 yen included tororo soba, fluffy rice topped with shredded mountain pepper, and miso-grilled dishes, all of which were delicious and carefully prepared. Despite being a tourist spot, I was impressed that everything was well made. In this area, where the minimum prices for Kawayuka are high, this place was more modest, yet the quality of the food was not compromised, which left a very good impression.

I went to Kifune Shrine with my friend. Last time we went in the winter and early in the morning, so we only prayed. This time we went in the afternoon and decided to have lunch. We wanted to eat by the river, so we looked up affordable options and ended up going to Denbei. The herring soba was delicious. It came with rice, but the soba portion was generous and filled me up. We couldn't see the river flowing from the step due to the neighboring shop, but we still enjoyed the atmosphere.

I came here to eat soba noodles along the river at Kibune Shrine. Although there was a riverside seating option, I chose to dine inside due to time constraints. I had the grated yam soba for 950 yen, the tempura soba for 1300 yen, and an extra serving of noodles for 500 yen. The soba had a nice buckwheat flavor and was delicious. The tempura was crispy and even tastier than I expected. Despite being a tourist spot, the soba was of good quality, reasonably priced, and very tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I walked along a steep path from Kurama-dera Temple to Kifune Shrine for a visit. Afterwards, on the way to the train station, we had lunch. More and more people were coming in after us, but there seemed to be seating available on the second floor as well, so there was no wait. Since it was cold, I ordered soba and kamameshi. They mentioned that the kamameshi would take about 20 minutes. "Should we bring the soba out at the same time?" they asked, but I said to bring it right away. In the end, both arrived at around the same time (laughs). The tempura was freshly fried and crispy, very delicious! The kamameshi came with fresh fu (wheat gluten)! It was so soft and chewy, really tasty. The other dish was tofu? But it had a smooth and different texture from regular tofu. The staff inside were young guys and girls. They were so energetic, cheerful, and seemed to get along well, chatting while they worked (laughs). Maybe because we walked so much, everything tasted really delicious!!
