When I walked down a small alley in Kita-Senju, I found a place with countless varieties of beer that I couldn't even drink. I decided to meet up with a friend who lives in Kita-Senju and hasn't seen in a while to have a drink together. The place he guided me to was a shop I had bookmarked for over two years. As I opened the sliding door at the entrance, I entered a standing bar area with concrete walls and tables protruding out. Each section was separated by acrylic dividers, and as I walked further inside, I reached a space with wooden floors and refrigerated cases similar to a convenience store drink section. The cases were filled with various craft beers from not only Japan but also different regions. Although I'm not knowledgeable about beer, it seemed like they had a variety of types such as ale, pilsner, and stout. The Japanese beers had labels with a lot of text, using three colors with a logo or large text in the middle, but there were also colorful and pop designs. I forgot to take photos, but it was the first time I felt like doing a "label purchase" for beer. There were even bottles packed like champagne, enjoyed by regular customers in wine glasses. I was also intrigued by the colorful cans in the back, but as someone who didn't know much, I opted for a beer flight (¥1,500 including tax) to taste a variety. I chose three types from the menu and added a cheese platter (¥400 including tax), paying with PayPay. When my name was called, I received three mini glasses in a wooden frame. They were diverse just by their colors. The three types I chose this time were as follows: - Harland Azacca Citra Hazy IPA: The name is a bit confusing except for the last three letters. The appearance and initial taste were soft, similar to White Ales like Shirahonoka or Hoegaarden, but it had a crisp bitterness typical of IPAs. It had an interesting charm as a "tsundere-type" drink. - Belching Beaver Sensation Peppermint Stout: A dark stout with a strong aroma, except for the last letters, which was intriguing. It had a noticeable scent due to being a stout, but the viscosity was low, and it had a light mouthfeel. The peppermint aroma came in at the end. The spicy aftertaste seemed to go well with cheese. - Commonwealth Fuyu Collins Sour Ale: It was more cloudy than the usual pilsner I drink. The first impression was a sharp ale sensation, but then a lemon-like acidity hit the back of the tongue. The lingering acidity and bitterness made me want to drink it alone rather than with other food, almost like a chaser with water. I enjoyed drinking with my friend, sharing beef jerky, and that was it for this time. I returned the glasses and opened the sliding door to leave. I finally visited the beer stand in Kita-Senju that I had been curious about for a while. I enjoyed various beers easily. Next time, I want to enjoy "label purchases" of various beers. Thank you for the meal.
