When you come to Kyoto, you'll want to finish off with a bowl of A-1 Ramen at Ikkousha! This rich and flavorful pork bone ramen is so delicious. I bet boiling those pork bones is hard work. - Ramen 800 yen - Extra noodles 160 yen. It was delicious! Thank you very much.

Today, there was no dinner at home, so I decided to stop by Kyoto Ramen Alley on my way back from work. I was torn between getting the rich ramen at Tenka, but I can always go there anytime, so I chose to come here since I made a stop in Kyoto. This place is known for its authentic Hakata tonkotsu ramen, which is considered the original foam-style ramen in Kyoto Ramen Alley. I love tonkotsu ramen, so I went to Hakata Ikkousha. I've been here many times before, but I noticed that the prices have gone up slightly. If you add various toppings, it easily goes over 1,000 yen, so today I just ordered the simple ramen for 850 yen. I decided not to get the extra noodles since they said I could pay with cash later. I also wanted to order the fried rice, but it wasn't on the menu. I thought it used to be on the menu, but I'm not sure if they removed it or if it was sold out. I was seated right away without having to wait. I asked for the noodles to be firm, and I requested garlic and ginger. By the way, pickled mustard greens, garlic, and ginger are free and the staff will bring them to you if you ask. After a short wait, the ramen arrived. At first, I ate it as it was. It was supposed to be foam-style, but it didn't have much foam. The taste was just like Hakata tonkotsu ramen and it was delicious. As I ate more, I started to feel full so I gave up on the extra noodles and added the garlic and ginger. The garlic comes in a whole clove and you have to crush it with a tool before adding it in. Just one bowl filled me up. Hakata tonkotsu ramen is really delicious after all. Thank you for the meal.

Char siu ramen with extra noodles. I often went to Hakata Station, but this was my first time at Kyoto Station. There were various regional ramen shops, but I opted for the reliable tonkotsu ramen. I ordered an extra serving of noodles, but it was forgotten due to a mix-up at another table, causing a delay. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

I had ramen from Isshokusha for the first time in a while. I think the last time was at Fukuoka Airport and Ikebukuro. I looked it up and it seems that it's only available at the food court in Tachikawa in Tokyo now. This ramen, known for its foamy broth, is Hakata-style ramen, but it doesn't have a strong smell and the taste is mild and easy to eat. Some may have mixed feelings about its lack of strong flavor, but I think it's quite delicious if you don't compare it to other Hakata-style ramen. I added fresh garlic and spicy pickled mustard greens to fully enjoy it. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the restaurant around 3 pm on a national holiday, and about 40% of the seats were filled. The staff kindly taught me how to use Suica to pay at the ticket machine. I ordered the Ajitama Negi Chashu Ramen for 1460 yen. The dish arrived quickly. I was surprised by the large amount of green onions and chashu. The soup was not too porky and had a refreshing taste. I ordered the noodles extra firm, and they stayed firm and delicious until the last bite.

One clove of garlic and a little bit of ramen sauce was just right for me. The pickled mustard greens were delicious too. The lid indicates that it is quite spicy, but I didn't find it extremely hot. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and I enjoyed my meal. I also appreciate that they are open all day.

I went around 2:00 PM and there were about 15 people lined up in front. It seems like there is always a line here. I had the red ramen. I usually like it spicier, but this was still delicious. I added extra spicy pickled mustard greens and enjoyed it. I was a bit concerned about the salt content in the soup, so I only had a little bit before stopping, but it was a flavor that made me want to add more rice.

Located on the 10th floor of Kyoto Isetan, this is the Hakata Ikkousha Kyoto Ramen Koji store. Various ramen shops gather here, allowing visitors to enjoy a ramen food tour. The ramen at Hakata Ikkousha was my first time trying it in the restaurant, as I had only had the dry noodles from a package before. I arrived a little before 1 pm and had to wait for about 4 people ahead of me. I purchased my meal ticket from the machine and waited. I ordered the ramen (extra firm) and rice. The turnover was quick, and I was seated at the counter sooner than expected. The noodles were thin and straight, similar to Nagahama style, with a typical Hakata tonkotsu texture. The toppings included 2 slices of chashu, green onions, and thinly sliced wood ear mushrooms. I added some free pickled ginger on top. The soup was a slightly thick soy sauce blended tonkotsu broth, with soy sauce as a subtle flavor enhancer. The seasoning was light. The restaurant had a slight tonkotsu smell, but it was not overpowering, similar to Ichiran. I ordered an extra serving of noodles, which came without any toppings, and added some garlic and sesame seeds. The garlic was a bit mild in flavor. The extra noodle sauce was more flavorful, which I should have added from the beginning. I also tried the rice with spicy pickled mustard greens, which added a perfect amount of spice to the dish. Overall, I enjoyed the ramen and the rice dish.

Famous shop for Hakata-style pork bone ramen. It's known for its original foamy soup, but honestly, I didn't feel that much foam. The soup has a bit of soy sauce flavor, so it's more like soy sauce pork bone ramen than just pork bone ramen. I got a great coupon from the app this month, which was for an extra 2 slices of chashu, so I ended up adding an extra serving of noodles. Thank you for the meal.

I felt like eating Hakata ramen, so I headed to Kyoto Ramen Koji! It was a busy day, so all the shops in Kyoto Ramen Koji were bustling, but I went to my destination here! First, I bought a meal ticket, lined up, and while waiting in line, I handed over the meal ticket and specified the firmness of the noodles. I think I waited about 15 minutes in line. The turnover rate was good, so my turn came quickly, and when I entered the shop and sat down, my ramen arrived fairly quickly! Ajitama Tonkotsu Ramen ¥960 - True to Hakata ramen style, it had a strong pork bone flavor! The inside of the shop also smelled of pork bone (a compliment!) The soup was rich and delicious! The staff were lively, and it was a very nice atmosphere in the shop. I will definitely revisit when I crave a hearty pork bone ramen. The pork bone smell is strong in the shop, so your clothes might pick up the smell, so it might not be good to wear overly fancy clothes... I also want to visit other shops in Kyoto Ramen Koji.

Kyoto Ramen Koji on the 10th floor of Kyoto Station Building is convenient for tourists. Around 5:30 pm on weekdays, I was the fourth group in line. I was seated without waiting for 10 minutes. I ordered the Ajitama Negi Chashu Ramen for 1,230 yen. On cold days, I crave pork bone ramen. I like my noodles thin and firm. Maybe I should have gone for extra firm. It was my first time trying a creamy broth, and it was deliciously light. The ramen came with seasoned egg, white spring onions, and four slices of chashu, providing a satisfyingly generous portion.

I'm in Kyoto. How about eating ramen before heading home? When it comes to late night near Kyoto Station...how about Kyoto Ramen Koji? So I went there. Wow, there are lines at every shop. Where should we eat? We wandered around thinking about it. Since Hakata Ikkousha was relatively empty, we decided to eat there. I've eaten at the main store in Hakata and the Osaka Ekimaru store before. I like the taste of their ramen, so I chose to eat here. I ordered the Ajitama Chashu Ramen from the ticket machine. After a short wait, it arrived. The foamy soup looks good. When I tried it... it's a bit different from the taste at the main store or the Osaka store. I would like to go to Hakata again to enjoy the authentic taste.

I went shopping at Isetan and then headed to Ramen Alley after a long time. Even though it was a weekday, it was really crowded. I had soy sauce ramen at Mirei-ya the other day, so tonight I was in the mood for tonkotsu ramen! That's why I decided to visit Hakata Ikkousha for the first time. Luckily, I was able to get in right away. The smell of tonkotsu at the ticket machine was amazing! I had high expectations! I ordered the Ajitama Ramen (extra firm) for 960 yen. The foam on the soup is only on the surface! This was the first time I encountered this kind of foam, and I thought the whole soup would be like potage. It was just creamy enough for me, as having it all creamy might make me tired of it at the end. The tonkotsu broth was not as strong as the smell inside the restaurant, so even those who are hesitant at first will be fine. The soup was delicious, and I ended up drinking quite a bit of it. Towards the end, I enjoyed changing the flavor with the white ginger, spicy pickled mustard greens, and sesame. In particular, I liked the white ginger, as it gave a refreshing taste when added to the soup. The chashu pork was a bit thin, but the ajitama (seasoned soft-boiled egg) was delicious and creamy. Many people were ordering extra noodles to pay in cash directly, and by the time my order was ready, a line had formed, so I was lucky with the timing. Thank you for the meal.

Hakata Isshokusya Kyoto Ramen Koji Store on Tabelog rating 3.40 (Reference: Main Store 3.53) * Both as of the posting date "Ajitama Negi Chashu Ramen (1230 yen)" Points - Directly connected to Kyoto Station - Free toppings like takana and garlic - Be prepared to wait during weekend lunch hours - Excellent combination of custom-made noodles and soup - Relatively mild pork bone smell - Free upsizing of ramen with Kyoto Ramen Koji app coupon - Rarely available mentaiko rice at a ramen shop [Explanation/Impression] The ramen here is characterized by its frothy soup and beautiful presentation, with slightly firm noodles that pair perfectly with the soup! The mentaiko rice uses the famous Hakata mentaiko from "Fukuya," allowing you to enjoy authentic tonkotsu ramen and mentaiko even in Kyoto. Thank you for the meal!!

Located in Ramen Alley, which is directly connected to Kyoto Station and attached to Isetan, this ramen shop specializes in Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen. Ramen Alley is known for gathering famous ramen shops from all over the country, so it is always quite crowded. I decided to stop by on a holiday night before taking the Shinkansen, looking for a place to eat. Since it was a day off, it was quite busy, but this shop had the shortest line so I chose it. The shops in this area sometimes change, but Ichiran has been here since I used to frequent this place about 10 years ago. Impressive. While I don't vividly remember the taste from back then, the tonkotsu broth is creamy, easy to drink, and delicious, although it may lack a bit of depth. It's enjoyable as a soup, but for ramen, I felt like it could use a bit more punch. I wonder if this is how the shops in Hakata taste as well? They also provide complimentary takana (pickled mustard greens).

Sometimes, I miss the old days when I used to live in Hakata. Especially during the pandemic when I can't even go out to play, I start to crave tonkotsu ramen. The colleagues I worked with there, the clients... and that slightly thick soup. Sigh, I want to go back.

After wandering around Kyoto Station for a bit, I suddenly had a craving for tonkotsu ramen, and when it comes to tonkotsu, I always think of either Ippudo or Ikko Sha! I couldn't decide whether to go to Porta or head up to the station building, but this time I chose Ikko Sha, which has a shop in the station building ramen alley. I ordered the Ajitama Chashu Ramen from the ticket machine and sat at the counter. The noodles were firm. Despite being almost full around 6 pm on a weekday, the turnover was quick, and customers were coming and going rapidly. The food was served promptly, in about 2 minutes! The creamy, milky tonkotsu broth with wood ear mushrooms, green onions, and seasoned egg looked appetizing. There were four thinly sliced chashu around the bowl. The soup had a slightly porky smell. The taste was creamy and mild, with a little thickness. The slightly smelly soup was an irresistible accent for tonkotsu lovers. Personally, I might prefer it to be a bit stronger. The ultra-thin slices of chashu were flavorful and delicious. The free topping of pickled mustard greens was excellent and added an unbeatable flavor when added midway through! The noodles were the classic thin straight type, with a satisfying chewiness that made me think of Hakata ramen. I added a half serving of noodles without hesitation, also firm. I finished every drop of the soup and thoroughly enjoyed the Hakata tonkotsu ramen! Famous restaurants like this never disappoint. Thank you for the meal. - Ajitama Chashu Ramen 1180 yen - Half serving of noodles 100 yen

Today, I had a rare gathering with some older gentlemen for a "stroll around Kyoto and drink sake" event. We met at 1:30 at Kyoto Station. For lunch, we chose this restaurant. By chance, one of the members and I arrived at 12:30. I had only been to "Kyoto Ramen Koji" on weekdays before, so I was surprised by how crowded it was! When I bought my meal ticket at the vending machine, I checked the line and saw about 10 people. I thought, "I have an hour, so maybe it'll be okay?" and bought my ticket, but when I looked for the end of the line, I realized the line was almost 20 people long. I gave up. Did I waste the 1180 yen ticket? But I couldn't give up, so after a walk of almost 20,000 steps and a drinking party later (I held back at the drinking party), I revisited around 8 pm. The line had 8 people. I waited for about 30 minutes and was seated inside. Yes! I didn't have to wait long. I took a sip of the soup right away. "This is it!" I could feel the richness of the tonkotsu broth on my tongue, but it wasn't heavy. The thin straight noodles were perfect! The wood ear mushrooms did a great job too. Truly "Hakata tonkotsu ramen!" I wish there was some pickled ginger, but it was perfect for ending a drinking session! Of course, I finished every drop of the soup! I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the second restaurant on Kyoto Ramen Street, "Ikko Sha." I had been wanting to visit this place for a while. I arrived after 9 pm and there was a line outside. I purchased a ramen ticket for 780 yen from the ticket machine and ordered my noodles to be firm. I sat down and waited for about 5 minutes before being seated at the counter. I also ordered the complimentary spicy pickled vegetables and garlic. The bowl of ramen came with slices of pork, wood ear mushrooms, and chopped green onions. The soup was creamy and rich from the pork bones, with a hint of soy sauce to enhance the flavor without overpowering it. The noodles were firm and thin, with a great texture that paired well with the soup. The pork slices were large and thin, and the crunchy texture of the wood ear mushrooms added to the overall enjoyment. Adding half a clove of garlic to the soup deepened the flavor, and dipping the spicy pickled vegetables in the soup with a spoon made for a delicious combination.

The instant ramen I received was delicious, so I wanted to visit the actual store. The instant version was tasty, but the taste of eating at the restaurant was different and delicious. When you make it at home, you have to choose your own toppings, but at the restaurant, I could taste their original flavor. The soup was richer.

Ramen [Hakata Isshoka Kyoto Ramen Koji Store] at Kyoto Ramen Koji. Original creamy broth. Wow, it smells amazing. The creamy tonkotsu broth with plenty of fat bubbles has a matured flavor. It has a smooth texture with no greasiness and is easy to drink. The thin noodles I ordered were soft and had a nice elasticity and chewiness. I wanted to get a second helping, but I refrained due to overeating. I added some spicy mustard greens and fresh garlic halfway through. It's delicious.
