I visited Sanjusangendo Temple in Fushimi, Kyoto, which is about a 10-minute walk from the Sumizodo Station on the Keihan Line to see the hydrangeas. Although the hydrangeas were nearing the end of their bloom, there were still some in full bloom. While exploring the hydrangea garden, I came across a tea house called Hananochaya, where I saw a refreshing hydrangea parfait. Since it was over 30 degrees, I decided to take a break at the tea house. The parfait was colorful with candy-like toppings, but when I tried it, the candy was a bit hard and the plastic container it was served in took away from the experience. I felt that the taste was diminished and the experience was not as enjoyable as it looked in the picture. I hope they focus more on the taste rather than the presentation. It would be better if the dessert resembling hydrangeas was softer, making it easier to eat for both young and elderly customers. It's better to have a good taste experience rather than being told it's hard to eat after trying it. What do you think? ( ^-^)ノ∠※。.:*:・'°☆o(^o^)oo(^o^)o

I recently visited a plum garden where they also had a weeping plum garden, rhododendron garden, azalea garden, hydrangea garden, and a maple azalea garden. There is a shop between the azalea garden and the hydrangea garden. I tried the matcha jelly and matcha set there. I enjoyed it at an outdoor seating area while looking at the azaleas. The matcha wasn't to my liking, but the weather was great.

In the midst of the Golden Week frenzy, I visited Hana no Tera and Mimurotoji temples early in the morning. As expected, there were few people around. Perhaps because half of the azaleas were already in bloom. This year, the flowers bloomed early. But on the slopes of the mountain, you can still see plenty of flowers. I enjoyed some matcha jelly while looking at the flowers. The delicious outdoor air, bird songs, and azalea flowers made it taste even better.

I went to Sanjusangendo Temple to see the hydrangeas. Even though it was a weekday Friday, there were so many people from the parking lot to the temple grounds. After enjoying the hydrangeas, we had shaved ice at the flower tea house. We shared a strawberry milk shaved ice for 880 yen. There were plenty of seating areas outside the shop, so we could easily stop by. This time, my wife and I went together and sharing the shaved ice was just the right amount. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I am Dr. Fujisaki, the director of BODYPIT KYOTO. Today is a day off, so I took my mother and sister to Sanjusangendo Temple, famous for its hydrangeas. The sun came out and it started to get hot, so we took a break at the flower tea house. Shaved ice. Maybe it was a bit too early for shaved ice. It got a little cold. However, when we sat in the sun, it got hot again. The hydrangeas were beautiful, and it was a very satisfying day off.

At Sanjusangendo Temple, after being healed by the cute hydrangeas, I headed to the tea house in the hydrangea garden. The tea house called "Hanano Chaya" operates with a system where you first pay at the register, receive a number tag, choose a seat, and then signal when your number is called to have your order brought to you. I fell in love at first sight with the menu featuring a photo and chose the "Hydrangea Heart Parfait" for 1,000 yen. The parfait was decorated with beautiful hydrangea flowers, perfectly capturing the world of hydrangeas. The "Hydrangea Heart Coaster" and "Sesame Candy" that came on the tray were complimentary, which was a nice surprise. The parfait had a delightful mix of textures, from the crunchy cookies to the soft whipped cream, jelly, matcha ice cream, and purple sweet potato ice cream. There were also various types of mochi balls and matcha jelly at the bottom, making it a fun experience until the last bite. The shop can get crowded on busy days, so it might not be the best place for a leisurely break, but enjoying Japanese sweets while taking a short rest was a nice experience. Thank you for the meal! ☺️

I strolled around the Hydrangea Temple ♬ Found a resting place in such a place (゚∀゚) It was so hot that I felt like I was going to pass out, so I went in (^^♪ I was told they didn't have Hydrangea soft serve ice cream except at Kyoto Station... I guess I won't go there^^; I'll have the Hydrangea drink!! The taste of ginger is nice!! It felt really strong, so I added water to dilute it and it was really delicious♡ Regained energy with the sweetness (^O^)/ I think more people were eating the Hydrangea parfait (*´∀`*)

I went on a pilgrimage to the 33 temples in the western part of Japan. During hydrangea season, I visited Sanjusangendo Temple in Uji. Unfortunately, it was raining, and since it was a Saturday, there were a lot of people! The parking lot was full. I made an offering, saw the hydrangea garden, and took a break at a tea house that is only open during the flower season. I tried the Hydrangea Shiratama Zenzai for 800 yen. The ice seemed to be slightly melted (maybe because it's not shaved ice), but the shiratama had various colors on top, creating a colorful zenzai resembling the colors of hydrangea flowers.

This is a tea shop located inside the Ajisai Temple and Sanboto Temple. I ordered the Ajisai parfait, tea soba set, and matcha set. There are table seats inside the shop, but I enjoyed my meal on the outdoor veranda while admiring the hydrangea flowers. It was a bit crowded due to the hydrangeas being in full bloom, but the service was smooth. It would probably be very busy during normal times. The taste was average, neither good nor bad.

"I thought this was the perfect place at this time of year." That's what I thought when I tried the shaved ice at Sanjusangendo Temple, popular for its hydrangeas. It was mid-June when I visited the temple, which has 10,000 hydrangea plants, and I want to share my experience of trying the shaved ice at the tea house on the temple grounds. The shaved ice came in flavors like strawberry and matcha, but I decided to try the "Hydrangea Ice" on that day. It was like a traditional shaved ice with white syrup, but it was decorated to look like hydrangeas with jelly toppings. It even came with a hydrangea-shaped coaster. The jelly on top was grape-flavored, and the flowers were made of amber sugar. Inside, there were fruits commonly used in traditional Japanese sweets. The overall sweetness was subtle, making it enjoyable even for those who don't like overly sweet treats. I'm not sure if they serve the hydrangea-themed shaved ice and parfait all year round, but if you're interested in trying unique items or Instagrammable dishes, I recommend giving them a try. After leaving the tea house, I even found some hydrangea-shaped objects around the area. If you're interested, I suggest looking for them too."

I took some photos of hydrangeas at the famous Sanjusangendo Temple, and then I ordered a shaved ice dessert called Uji Kinmochi. It may be a bit early for shaved ice, but having a snack in Uji seemed fitting. It was nice to relax at a teahouse surrounded by hydrangeas.

I visited Sanjusangendo Temple on a pilgrimage, on my way back from work during Golden Week, and stopped by Mimurotoji Temple. It was my third time visiting Mimurotoji Temple, but it was my first time visiting during the azalea season. It was also the first time I saw this shop open. So, even though I had just started my journey from Mimurotoji Temple, I suddenly took a break on my way back. Even though I had already eaten lunch, I couldn't resist trying the Matcha Warabi Mochi Parfait. The staff at the shop were friendly, but since it was a seasonal item, they seemed a bit unfamiliar with it. There were no napkins available for hand wiping, and the presentation of the parfait was not the best. The Warabi Mochi was large and delicious, but the overall presentation was lacking. Many people were drinking cold sweet drinks, so I think I'll try one next time.

When I visited Sanjusangendo Temple for a stroll, I heard that there were hydrangea parfait and hydrangea shaved ice at the tea house on the premises, so I decided to try it out. Since it hadn't been too long since I had lunch, I opted for the shaved ice. The hydrangea shaved ice was priced at 750 yen. The idea of combining ice with jelly was quite unique, but unfortunately, the quality of the ice was not good at all. Towards the end, it became a solid block of ice. My friend ordered the hydrangea parfait, but it was also not very impressive. However, it was a good way to cool off on a hot day.

I visited a teahouse surrounded by azaleas at Sanjusangendo Temple in Uji. When in Uji, you can't miss out on matcha. This place is a sweet shop surrounded by flower fields where you can also enjoy a light meal. The Hanaari Café is a lovely spot to order inside, receive a number tag, and wait for your order to be brought to you. I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the view. I tried matcha ice cream and matcha Bavarian cream, not too sweet, with a nice balance of milk and matcha flavors. The flowers change with the seasons, making it a delightful place to visit.

This is a tea house located in the garden of Mimurotoji Temple in Uji City, Kyoto. I decided to visit Mimurotoji Temple, famous for its azaleas, rhododendrons, and hydrangeas, on a whim. It's very easy to access from Shiga, just a short drive from Uji Higashi IC on the Keiji Bypass after passing through the tunnel at Seta. It only takes about 20-30 minutes. I was worried that it might be too late for the azaleas in May, but I found out they were still in full bloom. I paid the entrance fee of 500 yen near the parking lot and headed towards the main hall. On the right side, there was a stroll-style garden with azaleas in full bloom. There was a tea house inside, so I decided to visit. They serve udon and other dishes, but this time I ordered "Shiratama Zenzai (sweet red bean soup with rice cakes) - cold" for 600 yen (tax included) and "Secret chilled sweet ginger drink" for 400 yen (tax included) for myself and my companion. The zenzai was subtly sweet, allowing the flavor and sweetness of the red beans to shine through even more, enhanced by the rice cakes. The chilled sweet ginger drink was something new to me. It's apparently very famous in Kansai and Chugoku regions, but I had only heard of it before. I tried it out of curiosity without knowing how it would taste. Surprisingly, it was sweet at first... and had a gentle ginger flavor in the aftertaste. I later learned that it's made from syrup extracted from top-grade rice and malt, with added ginger for a finishing touch. I was impressed by its clear taste with no additives. The color was also a beautiful amber. The view of the azaleas from the tea house was truly breathtaking. I left wanting to visit again during hydrangea season.

It is a tea house located in the azalea garden of Sanjusangendo Temple. I ordered chilled sweet red bean soup to enjoy while gazing at the azaleas, and sat at an outdoor table. The beautiful azaleas made the chilled sweet red bean soup even more delicious. When the sun was too strong, it might be better to use an indoor table without forcing yourself. I tried sitting in various positions to find shade under the umbrella (lol).

When I went to Sanjusangendo Temple to see the hydrangeas, I took a break at this tea shop. It is the only Japanese-style tea shop where you can have a meal in the precincts of Sanjusangendo Temple. It is located in a garden where hydrangeas bloom abundantly. However, it is open only during a limited period, from April 13 to July 13, during the open period of the azalea, rhododendron, and hydrangea garden. * Business hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Hydrangea light-up on Saturdays and Sundays: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm It's a perfect spot to take a break when you're feeling good after seeing beautiful flowers, so you can't help but want to go in. It's a small tea shop, but there are outdoor tea seats inside and outside. Some have umbrellas and some don't. The menu is extensive. Sweets and parfaits include: Chilled amazake jelly 600 yen / Shiratama zenzai (cold) 600 yen / Shiratama zenzai (hot) 600 yen Matcha Shiratama zenzai (cold) 680 yen / Warabi mochi 600 yen / Matcha ice cream 550 yen Matcha babaroa 550 yen / Matcha jelly 600 yen Matcha parfait 800 yen / Matcha warabi mochi parfait 850 yen / Ukifune parfait 950 yen Meals include: Tea soba 750 yen / Tea soba set (with side dish rice) 950 yen / Mimuro udon 750 yen / Mimuro udon set (with side dish rice) 950 yen Most people who eat meals were eating inside the tea shop. However, those who only drink or eat sweets were mostly sitting outside. Outdoor tea seats with tea umbrellas. Maybe it's more elegant this way♪ First, place your order and pay at the cash register, receive a number tag, and wait for your order to be ready. The staff will bring sweets on a tray while calling out the number. I thought it was self-service, but they brought it to our table. We ordered Matcha ice cream ¥550 and Matcha jelly ¥600. There was also a cute tissue paper with a hydrangea illustration. The Matcha ice cream was okay, but the Matcha jelly was not cold, it was at room temperature which was disappointing. The portions were quite generous. You will end up feeling full. The popular items were the summer limited edition "Hydrangea shaved ice 700 yen" and "Hydrangea Shiratama zenzai 700 yen". These sweets were created with hydrangeas in mind, so they looked cute and cool.
