• Date: March 16, 2022, 18:30 • Crab Course: ¥14,840 • Asa Tsuki (breakfast included): ¥4,240 • Hotaru (firefly squid with vinegar): ¥440 • Yellowtail sashimi (grilled): ¥500 • Butterbur sprout (vegetable with oil): ¥280 • Homemade roasted pork: ¥580 • Bottle of beer: ¥480 • Local sake Yosakonatsu (2 cups): ¥620 • Oolong tea: ¥220 • Made a phone reservation about a month ago. • Visited "Yoshinono Sato" hot spring that I wanted to go to, but it was under renovation. Ended up going to "Tomitaya" and enjoyed the carved bath. Had the Crab Course for 1 person/2 people starting at 18:30. • Asked if they could serve everything at once, and they agreed. The course included sashimi, boiled crab, grilled crab, large shrimp tempura, crab nabe, and zosui, with each dish served with half a crab. • The sashimi was particularly sweet, as mentioned by the staff. • The grilled crab was served on a hot plate and had a delicious smoky flavor. • Also ordered firefly squid with vinegar and yellowtail sashimi from the whiteboard menu. • Enjoyed the flexibility of being able to add additional dishes to the Crab Course for two people. • The large shrimp tempura was good, but I found myself longing for more crab dishes. • The crab nabe included a new addition of tteokbokki. • Prepared the remaining crab from the boiled crab dish to add to the zosui. • Satisfied with the crab dishes, ordered butterbur sprout tempura and homemade roasted pork for snacking in the room. • The homemade roasted pork was crispy and flavorful, making it a perfect snack. • Had Asahi Super Dry beer in a large bottle, Yosakonatsu local sake served hot, and Asahi oolong tea in a 200ml bottle. • Stayed in room number 3. • Noticed that the yukata and toothbrush were not provided in the room. • Opted not to use the stove and requested to have the kerosene charge removed. • Learned from the restaurant's Instagram that the owner is the president. Also found out about a gathering of "SHEENA & THE ROKKETS" at the restaurant during the late Aikawa Makoto's passing. The atmosphere of the restaurant always had a rock 'n' roll vibe, and hearing about this meeting between a beloved rock 'n' roller and a favorite restaurant was very exciting. The gathering took place at table number 4. • Heard about the restaurant being featured in "POPEYE (2023.1)" magazine, which further piqued my interest. • Despite the significant price increase, the Crab Course at Tomitaya is worth it for the quality and experience.

During my trip from Tango to Maizuru, I stopped by the long-awaited Tomitaya. Even though it was a weekday, people were already lining up before the store opened. There were cute flowers on the roadside trees, but I'm not knowledgeable about plants so I don't know their names. I chose the daily special tempura set for 550 yen (cash only) after debating between that and simmered fish. It came with fish (maybe horse mackerel?), carrots, and sweet potato. As always, it was delicious and worth the 3150 yen! I think it's about time I come here for dinner. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant opens at 11 o'clock, and when I arrived at 11:30, there were already about 10 people waiting in line outside. I accidentally ended up at the back of the line and had to write my name at the entrance. The ramen costs only 420 yen, which is like a price from the Showa era. There are other dishes with great value as well. Locals probably order those, but as a tourist, I went for the sashimi set. It had 6 types of fresh and delicious sashimi, including sazae, all for just 1100 yen, which is very cheap. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it! ✨✨

This time, I revisited "Tomitaya" in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture. It has been a year and a half since my last visit, but the restaurant is still bustling, and I couldn't contain my excitement from the moment I stepped inside. I ordered the sashimi set meal for 1,100 yen, and it was absolutely delicious. The fresh fish melted in my mouth, and I couldn't stop exclaiming how tasty it was! I definitely want to go back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

4th visit. The weather was bad today, so there was little supply from the fishing association. That's why there are hardly any shellfish or fish. Oh well. But no matter what you eat here, it's always good. Today, I got sea cucumber vinegar, and it was shocking. I've never had such a firm sea cucumber before. Every time I come here, I end up ordering it because it's so good. When I come here, I really can't help but order the same menu every time! This place is definitely the number one restaurant where I end up eating too much! LOL 😆

I have used this place for lunch before, but today I visited at night. There are many set meal options and it's cheap, plus it's in Miyazu, so I thought it wouldn't be too crowded in the evening, around 6 pm on a weekend. However, my expectations were completely shattered as it was packed. There was a board in front of the restaurant where you write your name and wait. When I wrote my name, there were already 14 groups waiting. Some people seemed to have given up and left even after writing their names. But I waited for an hour. It was hot during the day, but it got cooler as the sun set, so I managed to wait. I ordered a set meal plus a sashimi platter for dinner. The set meals were in the 600 yen range, which is incredibly cheap. And the sashimi platter was in the 900 yen range, which was impressive for the quality. The chicken set meal was delicious, so I ordered it again. And of course, I had to have some seafood, so I got the sashimi platter. The quality for this price is amazing. Using this place for lunch is good, but I also think it's great for evening use like an izakaya. The cost performance is unbeatable!!

First time at Tomitaya. Arrived a little after 1pm and had to wait in line for about 15 minutes as there were 3 groups ahead of us. Ordered the sashimi set and the rock oysters. The rock oysters were a bit smaller than expected, but when dipped in ponzu sauce, they tasted like the sea itself. At 800 yen each, they may be a bit pricey compared to other dishes on the menu. The sashimi included yellowtail, amberjack, sea bream, ark shell, and bonito - all delicious and satisfyingly fatty. The sashimi set for 1100 yen was a great deal. Finished every last bite!

I arrived around 11:30 am on a regular day, but there was already a wait and the parking lot was full. I had to park at a nearby parking lot and wait for about 40 minutes before finally being seated. It would have been nice if the inside of the restaurant was cooler, as it was hot outside. I ordered the grilled fish set meal, but it didn't meet my expectations and just seemed like a regular dried fish.

Sashimi, vinegar (vinegared dishes), oil (fried dishes), grilled (grilled fish), simmered (simmered dishes) are listed on the left column of the whiteboard. When they are sold out, the prices disappear. Oil and grilled dishes are recommended as they are freshly fried or grilled and cost between 300 to 600 yen, offering good value for money. I took a taxi from Fairfield Marriott to the restaurant, which cost one meter fare (570 yen). I had the hotel call a taxi for the trip there, and I took a taxi back from Miyazu Station. (Note that taxi apps cannot be used in this area)

Miyazu Station front is a famous restaurant. The boiled fish heads with rice, miso soup, side dish (dried fish with grated daikon), and pickles included for 590 yen is unbelievably cheap nowadays. This time, the boiled fish heads dish had heads of four different types of fish served on the plate. The flavor was not too strong, not too sweet, and I really liked the seasoning. The miso soup was the type with almost dissolved wakame seaweed commonly found in school cafeterias. The service by the staff, which was not at all problematic as mentioned in other reviews, was very friendly. Looking at the menu and dishes other customers were eating, it seems that this restaurant is more of a cheap, filling diner in a seaside town rather than a place to enjoy fresh seafood. Thank you for the meal!

I had been curious about the restaurant Tomitaya for a while and finally got to go there! The sashimi was fresh and delicious. My husband decided on the sashimi set meal (1100 yen) while I, as I can't eat much raw fish, opted for the grilled meat set meal (790 yen). We also ordered the sardine tempura (300 yen). The grilled meat set meal was to my liking and very tasty. It had more volume than it appeared. The sashimi set meal also had sashimi hidden underneath and I was satisfied. Everything was fresh and delicious. The sardine tempura was especially good with grated daikon. I hope there are more restaurants like this nearby with a wide variety of menu options. Thank you for the meal!

This is a shop located in front of Miyazu Station. I visited before 8:00 PM, but it was full and had to wait for about an hour. The waiting system is to write your name outside the shop. Everything was delicious, but I especially liked the Inego sashimi for its rich flavor and beautiful appearance.

I came to this area to eat rock oysters, so I ate at Sakana Terrace, then at Maizuru Toretore Center, and now I came to eat rock oysters for dinner again. This is my second visit to Tomitaya. The boiled fish set meal, grilled fish set meal, rock oysters, sardine tempura, and large shrimp tempura were all delicious, but the grilled fish set meal with horse mackerel was especially tasty. Even with eating all of this, the cost performance is amazing! No wonder there are always so many customers coming. I will visit again when I want to eat a variety of fish dishes.

If you take the highway from Osaka, it's about an hour and a half, but if you take the leisurely route, it's about three hours. Even if you go early, it can get quite crowded around lunchtime and in the evening, so around 3 pm is a good time to aim for. This place is really delicious. People often say it's because the ingredients are fresh, but it's not just that. There are so many skilled chefs in the kitchen. They specialize in grilling fish or handling shellfish... Well, I'm not entirely sure about that, but the shellfish here is amazing! Really amazing! If you eat here, you won't be able to eat anywhere else! I used to think that shellfish like oysters, turban shells, or ark shells had a certain taste that made them delicious, but I was wrong. The true deliciousness of shellfish is just the taste of the shellfish itself. When it comes to fish, you might think sashimi is the way to go. But no! Here I learned that grilling is the best way. And don't pour soy sauce over it. At first, eat it as it is (because it already has a salty taste). The fish is so fatty, so occasionally add some grated daikon radish to refresh your palate. You know, there are those people who immediately pour soy sauce over the grated daikon radish (better than pouring it directly on the fish), but that's not good! The fish here teaches you the proper way to enjoy grilled fish... I think. There may be individual differences though (laughs).

I revisited the restaurant after the disappointing cost performance of the sashimi set meal last time, but the food log rating was still good. I arrived at 12:20, expecting it to be crowded, but there was no line and plenty of empty seats inside, so I was seated right away. When I asked the staff about the fish for the boiled fish set meal and grilled fish set meal, they replied, "It's chef's choice." I decided to order the boiled fish set meal. The seasoning was a bit strong, but it went really well with the rice and was delicious. While eating, I noticed that the man next to me who arrived later was also asking about the fish for the grilled fish set meal, but he got the same indifferent response, "I don't know, it's chef's choice." It seems like they don't want to bother going to the kitchen to find out. Even though they may not be able to list the daily catch on the menu, I wish they would at least tell us the type of fish for the day, like "Today's fish is red snapper" or "Today's fish is rockfish." The service attitude was also questionable, and I wonder why this place has such high ratings. Are they getting a bit too full of themselves? This restaurant's style doesn't suit me.

I had a delicious lunch here with lots of fresh fish during my sightseeing in Kyoto. Although it was a bit late, around 1 pm, there were many people lining up. The staff efficiently managed the customers, so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. We ordered a sashimi set, a boiled fish set, and also a sashimi of amberjack. The amberjack sashimi was fatty and had a firm texture, very delicious. The boiled fish was seasoned slightly strong, which went well with the rice. It was a cozy lunch experience. Thank you for the meal.

Famous Tondaya restaurant. There are many people waiting in front of the shop. I ordered the popular sashimi set meal. My companion ordered the grilled fish set meal. It was indeed delicious. The sashimi was fresh and there was a generous portion. In terms of taste, atmosphere, and reasonable pricing, it may be at the top level for a casual dining place. Although the kitchen was bustling with many people, it no longer felt like a casual dining place, but more like a concept they were going for. So, I think it would be good for people who enjoy that kind of atmosphere.

Miyazu in Kyoto is a town known for its fish. There aren't many accommodations or restaurants around. However, in the quiet Miyazu Station area at night, there is a lively restaurant called "Dondaiya". Despite the lack of pedestrians outside, the restaurant is almost always full. I managed to find a seat and ordered a chu-hi. The menu on the whiteboard had a huge variety of dishes, making it difficult to decide quickly. I carefully chose sashimi and fried food. I switched to sake and ended with a set meal. You can have a satisfying meal here without needing to go to another place.

This is a cozy and long-established izakaya in front of Miyazu Station. All the dishes have great value for money and taste delicious. The seafood dishes are especially good. There are many menu items written on the whiteboard. It's a very popular restaurant with a lot of customers. The unique and somewhat quirky service from the older female staff members adds to the enjoyable atmosphere.

Last time I went was about 5 years ago, I thought... but it's actually been 7 years (^^; Still as popular as ever ♥ There are a lot of young people (≧◡≦), making the place lively ♥ The staff, who are older than me, are so quick and efficient amidst all the orders flying around (◍˃̶ᗜ˂̶◍)ノ" The taste and cost performance are still excellent ♥ I had a tempura set with 3 plump shrimp that were delicious ♥

"Tomiya" in Miyazu Good evening. Tonight, as the winter footsteps draw near, I will introduce a long-established store in the northern part of Kyoto, Miyazu! The Miyazu Ine area is often visited by people as a short trip from Kansai. There are many touristy places with high prices, but Tomiya is a local favorite with excellent cost performance. The location is excellent, right in front of JR Miyazu Station (parking available). You can enjoy a set meal for lunch or start drinking early, making it convenient for tourists. The lunch set meals (sashimi set meal recommended) are top-notch in terms of volume and quality. On this day, I visited around 3 pm, so of course I used it as an izakaya! I started with a large bottle (480 yen) and then moved on to a highball (310 yen). Day drinking is the best, so tasty! The cost performance is really good! Now, onto the food. There is a great variety of sashimi, meat dishes, rice dishes, and side dishes, all of which are top-notch. In addition, the daily fish specials written on the whiteboard can be prepared in various ways according to your preference, such as simmered, grilled, fried, or raw. Some of the orders include: - Assorted sashimi (950 yen) - Tempura assortment (850 yen) - Grilled hormone (350 yen) - Simmered fish head (350 yen) - Grilled young chicken (350 yen) As you can see from the photos, the prices are surprisingly low... yet the quality is outstanding. The sashimi was fresh, and the side dishes were perfect for drinking. We couldn't stop drinking! Especially recommended were the large shrimp tempura and simmered fish head! The tempura was incredibly plump and juicy. The simmered fish head was tender with a rich broth flavor. Just with these dishes and rice, I was more than satisfied! Everything was excellent without a doubt. The nostalgic atmosphere inside the restaurant was also good, and it was a relaxing experience in many ways. When you visit the nearby area including Toyooka, it is definitely worth a visit, so please check it out! It's a must-visit place, so be sure to stop by and try it out!
