This is a soba restaurant located inside the Keihan Tambabashi Station. It can be accessed from both inside and outside the station. I sometimes use it when transferring to Kintetsu. This time, for dinner, I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered kitsune soba with added grated yam. From the first bite, the flavor of the kelp broth spread throughout my mouth, and I enjoyed it until the last bite.

Today I had lunch here. I was planning to take it easy for lunch after a morning of moving around on site, but unfortunately I didn't have much time so I ended up slurping udon here. The tempura, although called tempura, is nothing special like Kansai-style kakiage (^o^; The broth is on the stronger side, but the tempura at udon shops in Kansai is simple everywhere, so this udon shop doesn't stand out. Thank you for the meal♪

This is a soba restaurant located inside the Keihan Tamba Bridge Station. You can enter from both inside and outside the station, and there are chairs available, making it convenient for transferring to Kintetsu line. This time, I had the set meal of mixed rice and kitsune soba for 620 yen. It's a bit pricey, but still affordable. The food was served quickly, the mixed rice was hot and delicious with plenty of ingredients, giving a good value for the price. The kitsune soba was well-balanced, tasty broth, and the large fried tofu was a highlight.

Today I had work near Tanbabashi Bridge. For breakfast, I decided to try a noodle restaurant that I had been eyeing for a while, located right next to Keihan Tanbabashi Station. You can enter the restaurant without a ticket. I ordered the udon breakfast set, which came with kake udon, rice, raw egg, and pickles for only 390 yen! It's so cheap! The udon had a light Kansai-style flavor with a slightly sweet broth that warmed me up. I finished with the familiar TKG (tamago kake gohan). The breakfast set with kake udon and onigiri was also a steal at 400 yen! A friend to the common people! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. Thank you for the meal!

Hybrid type stores that can be accessed from both inside and outside the station are convenient. Even when you're not taking the train, you can still use them. I always thought that at fast-food soba/udon shops in Osaka, when you order "tempura udon/soba," it often comes with a thin, hard disc on top. One day, without thinking, I bought "tempura" udon from the automatic ticket machine, only to realize that there was a cheaper "tempura" udon option after I pressed the button. I might have lost out a bit, I thought. I entered the shop while pondering this. At that moment, I didn't particularly imagine what would be on top of the udon. What came out was clear broth with floating udon and a fluffy tempura on top. Oh, it's just a normal tempura, I thought. I had always thought that the hard disc was the only option at fast-food soba/udon shops in Osaka, but it seems that was only for "tempura." If you order "kakiage," you get the fluffy one. It was a small (but not really) discovery.

The food is a stand-up soba place, and I was impressed by the amount of green onions they give you. Located next to the ticket gate at Tanbabashi Station on the Keihan Railway, this standing udon and soba shop has a good atmosphere and can be used both inside and outside the gate. The price is reasonable, and I didn't order any alcohol or drinks. I gave this place a rating between 3.0 and 3.5.

I went on a trip to the Kansai region. First, I took the Shinkansen to Kyoto Station. From there, I transferred to a different train line, wandering around until I reached the transfer station called Tanbabashi. I crossed the connecting bridge to the Keihan train station. Right after passing through the ticket gates, I found a restaurant right there. I realized I hadn't eaten yet, so I decided to go in and try it out. The restaurant is located right inside the Keihan Tanbabashi station, accessible from both inside and outside the ticket gates. There's a ticket machine next to the entrance with a variety of menu items, including traditional dishes and Kansai specialties like sliced herring. I purchased a ticket for the tempura soba (350 yen) and entered the restaurant. The seating area is small with only counter seats available. I sat down at an empty counter seat and handed my ticket to the staff. The meal was quickly prepared and served. The noodles were thin and seemed to be pre-boiled, lacking a strong chewiness but not overly soft. The broth was a light soy sauce-based soup with a decent umami flavor. The toppings included tempura and green onions. The tempura mostly consisted of small shrimp inside a crispy batter. Overall, it was a typical station soba dish, but being in Kansai made it feel a bit different from what I'm used to in the Kanto region. I would like to try the set with takikomi gohan (seasoned rice) next time.

I tried the menu called "Cold Spring Udon" that caught my eye. The cold noodles were topped with plenty of green onions, rolled omelette, bamboo shoots, and fish cake. The presentation with white, yellow, green, and pink colors was quite beautiful. The noodles were dipped in a dipping sauce. The basic noodles and sauce were well-balanced. The rolled omelette was softer than expected, but had a somewhat artificial taste. The bamboo shoots were surprisingly large, but lacked flavor and had a bitter aftertaste, which was emphasized by the cold temperature. Serving bamboo shoots in a cold dish at this price range seems like a mistake. I also wonder why there is black pepper and powdered ginger on the table.

On this day, I headed to Demachiyanagi in the morning. Let's have breakfast at "Men-za Demachiyanagi" located inside Demachiyanagi Station (Keihan), which is a transfer station from Kintetsu to Keihan. I think the first time I had standing soba (udon) was when I was 13 years old, so it was about 35 years ago. I have been to various shops since then. I think the first railway soba shop I went to was Hankyu Soba. I have also been to shops in JR and JNR station premises, as well as Kintetsu, Hanshin, and Nankai. But this time is my first time at Keihan!! This shop is not standing, but you sit down to eat. I purchased a ticket for "kake soba" at the ticket machine in front of the store. It costs 240 yen including tax. It was served quickly. It doesn't have tenkasu (tempura bits) (they are not even placed on the table), but it has plenty of fresh green onions!! I also sprinkled plenty of shichimi (seven spice). Mmm. It's just delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Visited Menza at Tanbabashi Station for the first time! This is a soba restaurant part of the Keihan Electric Railway group, with three locations including Neyagawa Station and Nakashojima Station. I tried their kakiage soba, which was tasty with a slightly sweet broth, but the kakiage itself was disappointing - it was like a lump of flour. At Neyagawa Station, they fry the kakiage fresh in-store, so it's crispy and hot when served. It's a shame that the quality varies between locations. Thank you for the meal.

I casually noticed that they had "duck soba" on the menu and decided to try it. It was a set for 600 yen. When asked if I wanted udon or soba, I chose soba. And when asked about onigiri or inari, I chose onigiri. There were two onigiri, one with salmon and seaweed, and the other with pickled vegetables mixed in. The rice itself was not bad. The duck, three slices of lean meat, had a nice smoky flavor and was surprisingly good. The broth was on the sweeter side, which helped to bring out the duck's flavor. The soba just about had a hint of soba flavor. Overall, I think it's a good deal for 600 yen.

A noodle shop located inside the Tamba Bridge Station on the Keihan line. I decided to eat here due to the long wait for transferring from Kintetsu line caused by Keihan's schedule change. I ordered curry udon, which had a standard taste. The good thing is that it came out quite quickly after ordering. Surprisingly, the shop was quite popular with customers constantly coming in.

I came on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. I ordered the rolled omelette set meal. Both the rolled omelette and udon were incredibly delicious and fantastic. My mouth was filled with happiness. It permeated through my whole body. I am completely satisfied and full of happiness. Thank you for the feast. I will definitely visit again. I will appreciate all the ingredients in this world. Calling for delicious food♪ The more you eat, the more overflowing power♪

When you come to Kyoto, you must visit Men-za Tanbabashi. This time, I ordered the seasonal limited edition ginger tempura udon. The slightly sweet and flavorful broth with ginger is a perfect match. It warms up my body and puts me in a happy mood. I was surprised to find two large shrimp tempura in the bowl. The broth here is a mix of Kanto and Kansai styles, with a good balance of dashi and soy sauce that complements the udon very well. I hope they expand to Tokyo, but since there is high demand for soba there, it might be a bit tricky. I think it's a valuable experience that can only be enjoyed in this area.

The happiness of being able to eat during the transfer time. When you think about how tough it would be to go back home for over an hour and then have dinner, come here. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, it's hard to know when they are open... If you rely on it, they might be closed. Be sure to check the signboard.

The morning salmon set that I reviewed before was no longer available. Instead, it seems that they have introduced a new menu item called "dashi tamago set". I tried the "morning udon" for 330 yen, which includes two rice balls and a small bowl of udon. The taste was nothing special. Additionally, the morning menu is completely gone at the Nakashima Island store.

I visited around 11:10 on a normal day. There was one person sitting at the ticket gate. I ordered a simple kitsune udon because I felt like eating it after a long time. It was my first time having kitsune udon in about 30 years. I didn't really like the texture of the noodles. The broth seemed like a flavor that would appeal to everyone.

I found the "Morning Salmon Set Meal" for 360 yen at the Tanbabashi store and decided to order it. It includes udon/soba noodles with rice, pickles, and a small piece of salmon. The salmon is heated in a vacuum pack. The udon has a slightly sweet mirin and flavorful broth. For a station udon, considering the taste and price, it's satisfactory. The salmon tastes better than the salmon at gyudon chains. Although it doesn't look impressive, it has a good amount of volume by focusing on thickness rather than surface area. At this price, it's worth it.

The udon at train stations is similar everywhere, so even a small difference can make a big impact. When traveling from Keihan to Kyoto via Kintetsu, the options are Menza in Tanbabashi or Menzanmai in Kyoto. Menza in Tanbabashi allows you to sit down, and the broth is similar to my preference (similar to the broth of Kyobashi Udon). I ordered the Tsukimi Udon, and enjoyed slurping the noodles without touching the egg at first, then mixing in the egg halfway through for a change in flavor. This second half was also to my liking. Although I was intrigued by the yellow soba curry mentioned in other reviews, it seemed to not be a regular menu item. However, the curry udon with egg was also delicious.
